15. age 21 The large 3 digit display shows the actual position of the column in mm here 276 mm The 1 digit Channel Display shows that Channel 0 has been selected The 2 digit Program Display shows There are no special functions activated The 3 digit Information Display bottom right shows r3 therefore the ramp 3 is activated The Linear Display shows the battery voltage 5 of the 8 digits are alight which means that the battery voltage is 23 V also see p 21 www movietech de the easy working film equipment Macnum DOLLY 1an07 1 movieTech MovieTech Magnum Dolly Electronic Advanced Version Program Channel 0 2 Selecting the Column s lift range Under certain circumstances when operating the Magnum Dolly it may be necessary to reduce the lift range of the column For example when operating the Duo Jib under a low ceiling or under a low hanging lighting set up The Magnum Dolly s programming facility caters for such circumstances as follows When Channel 0 is selected it is possible to dictate a new bottom and top end position via the programming keys in the hand control unit The column can therefore be driven only within this new lift range until otherwise instructed To memorize and to cancel the limits it is necessary to press 2 of the programming keys simultaneously always GRF another key Current position is set as bottom limit This position cannot longer be passed There are
16. dicates that the battery is fully charged Should the red LED alight this indicates that the battery is not fully charged At this point it should be explained that the Mains Charger Unit also acts as a battery charger As long as the column is not being driven the mains unit trickle charges the battery The charging cycle takes approximately 4 hours per battery The mains unit can also be used externally as a charger with the aid of a Charger Adapter Plate Note Newer models of the Mains Charger Unit are fitted with a manual switch over from lamp to 5 amp charge It is recommended to charge the batteries once a week on the 1 amp cycle Charging time is approx 8 hours per battery Once the power supply has been provided the following procedure should be followed 1 Ensure that the General Safety Tips have been followed 2 Connect the Hand Control Unit pos 6 photo 3 via the Hand Control Cable pos 7 photo 3 to the Control Cable Socket pos 8 photo 3 in the Electronic Unit Housing 3 Select the required drive ramp pos 6 photo 3 4 Activate the electronic by pressing the Main On Off Switch integrated in the Hand Control Unit 5 Press the Manual Control Switch in the desired direction i e forwards to go up press back to go down Note Upon activation should the column be in a fully retracted or extended position it is necessary to clear the two end switch areas This simply means that the column should be driven depending upon
17. elow 17 V for more than 2 seconds 5 H L The battery should be recharched as soon as possible This fault can occur when the motor due to a mechanical blockage is not able to provide the correct amount of revolutions as instructed by the electronic It can also 2 occur when due to a defective electromagnetic brake the column moves uncontrolled or the digital rotatable encoder is defective Emergency Back up Switch The Magnum Column contains an integrated emergency back up It can be found directly above the connection for the hand control cable in the electronic housing For easy access if is necessary to disconnect the hand control cable In the event of an electronical malfunction the column can be driven up or down by pressing the switch accordingly The emergency back up connects the motor directly with the battery and opens the electromagnetic brake for as long as the switch is pressed The result is a fast raw movement without any drive ramp control IMPORTANT THERE IS NO AUTOMATIC DECELERATION Should the column be driven completely to the end either at the or bottom and the switch is being pressed it is possible that motor damage will be caused It is therefore recommended that the emergency back up only be used when the electronic is not working www movietech de the easy working film equipment MAGNUM DOLLY SYSTEM 1an07 T Movierech MovieTech Magnum Dolly Electronic Advanced Version Overall View of
