1. WARNING Not complying with this proce dure can expose you to the risk of burns CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES To connect the accessories to the delivery de vice proceed as follows Straight extension accessory 1 Curved extension accessory 4 Bring the accessory chosen into line with the delivery device nozzle O and rotate the ac cessory until it locks into place Fig 9 For normal treatments use the straight exten sion accessory 1 Use the curved extension accessory 4 to ac cess hard to reach points INCREASE THE VERSATILITY OF CIMEX ERADICATOR WITH OUR OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES Cimex Eradicator can tum into an excellent green cleaning system thanks to its optional ac cessory kit PRECAUTIONS FOR DELICATE SURFACES Before treating leather special fabrics and wood surfaces consult the manufacturer s instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden part or on a sample of the mate rial Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deforma tions have occurred e Please pay careful attention when cleaning wooden and treated terracotta flooring as prolonged use of steam may damage the 22 wax polish or colour of the surfaces to be cleaned We therefore recommend adjust ment the steam to minimum if your ap pliance has steam adjustment and never direct the jet of steam directly on the sur face but cover the brush with a cloth Do not keep spraying steam in t

6. all spots requiring a stronger closer treatment without connecting the brushes The more re sistant the stain the closer you should hold the gun the steam pressure and temperature being higher at the source Always wipe with a dry cloth or a slightly abrasive sponge if the spot is a difficult one to remove after using the gun Steam gun is particularly efficient at Breaking down rug and carpet stains before they are treated with the large brush Cleaning stainless steel surfaces panes mirrors enamelled surfaces Cleaning hard to reach corners such as stairs window sills door posts Cleaning cooking top knobs taps bases Cleaning window shutters heaters car in teriors Spraying plants from a distance Removing odours and creases from clothes To reach higher points the steam gun can be connected to one or both extension tubes EXTENSION TUBES 10 The two extension tubes are perfect for easy access to distant surfaces from floors to cei lings FLOOR BRUSH 14 To clean floors attach a dry clean cloth to the brush and pass it moving from top to bottom without pressing When one side is dirty turn the cloth Use the brush without cloth over dirty or scaled areas and over tile joints making la teral movements to lift the dirt For vertical washable surfaces or uphol stery and ceilings cover the brush with a dry cloth and proceed as for the floor On all types of synthetic or wool floor wall carpets as
7. all window surfaces e Tile and other small surfaces To clean wood doorposts floors etc do not apply the steam directly but cover the brush big or small with a doubled cotton cloth For furniture cleaning direct the steam jet onto a dry cotton cloth and then start the cleaning The warm moisture on the cloth traps the dust spots and the static electricity so that the furniture stays clean longer ENGLISH ENGLISH CIMEX ERADICATOR 120 STEAM NOZZLE 12 The 120 nozzle which can be connected di rectly to the gun or together with the exten sion tubes allows you to concentrate a powerful jet of steam to otherwise inaccessi ble locations such as radiators door posts sills and shutters as well as for sterilising toi let bowls It s a very useful and indispensable tool WINDOW SQUEEGEE TOOL 16 DO NOT USE STEAM ON GLASS FREEZING TEMPERATURES The window squeegee tool allows you to clean effectively and rapidly all glass surfaces without using detergents Your glass will remain cleaner longer thanks to the absence of the film nor mally left behind by chemical cleaning products on which new dust and grease can attach them selves The accessory is equipped with two spa tulas short spatula 16a long spatula 16b IN Cleaning glass is done in two stages e Steaming the surface to be cleaned to dis solve the dirt using the steam command le ver 9a Using the spatula to remove dirt without ven ti
8. ed material is resistant to high temperatures STEAM FLOW ADJUSTMENT Cimex Eradicator are equipped with a steam regulator control D fig 4 You can increase the steam flow by turning the control in an anti clockwise direction Turning it in a clock wise direction reduces the steam flow PRESSURE INDICATOR Cimex Eradicator is equipped with an indicator E displaying operating pressure PATENTED SAFETY CAP WATER OUT The appliance is equipped with a safety cap which prevents opening of the generator tank as long as there is any pressure remaining in side This is an important and indispensable safety device and it is necessary to follow the procedure here below when re filling the ge nerator tank Water out is notified by the indicator light H and by an acoustic warning if present inside the appliance When you have used up all the water in the tank proceed as follows e Switch off the machine at the generator on off switch F e Operate the steam request switch K of the Steam Disinfector until the steam flow ceases e Switch OFF the accessory on off switch A e Disconnect the power supply cable I from the mains e Unscrew anti clockwise the patented safety cap B ENGLISH ENGLISH CIMEX ERADICATOR e Wait for a few minutes to allow the genera tor tank to cool down e When cool proceed to carefully refill the tank as described in paragraph Prepara tion for Use
9. er attempt to disassemble it but refer to an authorized Polti Service Centre This appliance is equipped with safety devices which are to be replaced only by a suitably qualified technician Before cleaning or storing the appliance always first ensure that the appliance has cooled down completely Do not direct the steam jet at people animals or debris Never place your hands inside the jet of steam While refilling with water switch off and disconnect the appliance from the mains Do not use if the appliance has been dropped has visible signs of damage or leaks Before connecting the appliance to the current ensure that the continuous steam jet button is not pressed Before refilling the appliance when it is hot allow it to cool for a few minutes Keep your face away if you fill the boiler when it is still hot the water can evapo rate on contact with the hot boiler causing a jet of steam When filling a hot boiler we recommend adding small amounts of water to avoid the water evaporating instantly with the risk of burning Do not empty the appliance when the water inside the boiler is still hot Do not try to unscrew the cap when the appliance is in operation Regularly check the status of the safety cap and seal replace with original parts as necessary Make sure the safety cap is screwed on properly otherwise it may cause steam leaks Do not force open the cap when there is a minimum pressure of

11. he same place For wooden surfaces furniture doors etc we recommend cleaning with a cloth which has been steamed previously e Also on particularly delicate surfaces e g synthetic materials lacquered surfaces etc it is recommended to always cover the brushes with a cloth and to use steam to a minimum If cleaning glass surfaces in particularly low temperatures preheat the glass using the hand gun from about 50 centimetres di stance from the surface to be cleaned e For care of your plants vaporise at a mini mum distance of 50 centimetres TIPS Here are some tips for using the steam control e Strong steam to remove scale stains grease and sanitise e Regular steam for carpets rugs windows floors e Gentle steam to steam plants clean delicate fabrics wall coverings sofas etc USING OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES All Cimex Eradicator accessories can be con nected directly to the steam gun or extension tu bes as follows Fig 12 e Bring the locking button 10a on each ac cessory to the OPEN position e Attach the desired accessory to the handle or extension tube e Bring the button 10a to the CLOSED posi tion e Check the strength of the connection To connect the flexible hose to Cimex Eradica tor follow the same procedure used for the con nection of the Steam Disinfector CIMEX ERADICATOR THE OPTIONAL ACCESSORY KIT CONSISTS OF STEAM GUN 9 The steam gun can be used directly on
12. iance must be resting on a surface table or floor The handle is only used for transport Keep the device out of the reach of children when it is on and during cooling ENGLISH ENGLISH CIMEX ERADICATOR A li Read these instructions carefully before using the appliance Dear Customer thank you for purchasing our product Cimex Eradicator provides an innovative and effective method to eliminate the problem of bed bugs Laboratory tests and field trials have shown that Cimex Eradicator treatment with dry saturated steam heated to 180 C is able to eliminate 100 of eggs and larvae as well as a high percentage of adult in sects The special Steam Disinfector delivery device allows delivering steam at a temperature of up to 180 C Steam Disinfector is equipped with a controlled expansion heat exchange device Polti world patent which further heats the steam generated by the Cimex Eradicator boiler to the temperatures reported above In this way eggs larvae and insects die in a few seconds from heat shock Upon delivery steam is mixed with the sanitising agent HPMED a water alcohol solution that can be delivered in the presen ce of people which removes bed bug odours On designing Cimex Eradicator our team of experts have provided the device with special tools to make your work safer and more efficient The Safety Cap a unique Polti patent prevents opening whilst any residual pressure remains in the system The water boil
13. ion to permit recycling treatment and environmentally compatible disposal helps prevent negative impact on the environment and human health and promotes recycling of the materials making up the product For more information on available collection facilities contact your local waste collection service or the shop where you bought this appliance 19 IMPORTANT Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested For this reason your Cimex Eradicator may contain some residual water in the boiler from the testing HPMED The characteristics of HPMEd make it the ideal aid to the action of dry saturated steam at high temperatures delivered by Cimex Eradicator Adding HPMED to the steam flow delivered by Cimex Eradicator allows the removal of eggs organic traces due to bed bug faeces and the complete elimination of the characteristic bed bug odour from surfaces Instructions for use Fit the disposable bot tle into the delivery device following the in structions in paragraph INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Switch on the machine following the manu facturer s instructions Once the system is ready distribute the steam and HPMED Mixed with the steam the product will nor mally dry within 30 seconds to one minute depending on the environmental conditions Warnings Keep out of the reach of children Do not ingest In case of contact with eyes rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice HPMED i
14. le to continue standard operations BEFORE TREATING SURFACES IT IS ADVISABLE TO DIRECT THE FIRST JET OF STEAM ONTO A CLOTH OR DOWNWARDS FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS WITHOUT HOOKING UP THE FITTING FOR THE DISPOSABLE BOTTLE 2 THIS WILL ENABLE THE OPTIMUM TEMPERATURE AND PRES SURE TO BE REACHED TIPS FOR USE Before treating delicate or unusual surfaces with the steam system consult the manufacturer s instructions and always carry out a test on a hid den part or on a sample of the material Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred Direct the steam downwards for 2 se conds in order to bring all the components of the machine to their correct tempera ture in order to avoid condensation Bring the delivery device into a position perpen dicular to the surface to be treated and keep it at the distance provided by the spacer bracket support N Avoid direct contact in case of deli cate material Fig 11 Deliver the steam on a continuous movement using brushing movements to cover the sur face to be treated In this way the flow of dry 21 steam at high temperatures will kill the bugs de vitalising their eggs on all treated surfaces Cimex Eradicator delivers dry saturated steam at high temperatures that will dry without leaving residues within 30 seconds to 1 minute depen ding on environmental conditions Before use make sure that the treat
15. ng the steam e For extra abrasive action and more effective removal of dirt we recommend using the bristles supplied with the large window cleaning kit To clean especially large glass surfaces attach the window squeegee tool to the extension tubes SPARE SEALS FOR ACCESSORIES 17 Regularly check the status of the coloured washer located in the connector assembly Q If necessary replace with the appro priate spare part 17 as described below Remove the damaged washer Insert the new washer placing it on the steam nozzle and pushing it until it is in its place See Fig B Lubricate the gasket with silicone grease or Vaseline or alternatively with small quanti ties of vegetable oils 24 Fig B Make the same check also on the con nection washers of the extension tubes 10 and of the steam gun 9a If neces sary replace with the appropriate spare part 17 as described below Remove the damaged washer Insert the new washer placing it on the steam nozzle and pushing it until it is in its place See Fig C Lubricate the gasket with silicone grease or Vaseline or alternatively with small quanti ties of vegetable oils Fig C USE OF THE ACCESSORIES HOLDER The accessories holder allows to fix the tube with the brush mounted on it on the appliance body Reposition on the appliance body make the groove on the back of the brush slide into the guide of the acce
16. off the appliance unplug it from the mains and wait for it to cool before screwing the cap back on e Connect the power supply cable I into an earthed power supply of the correct vol tage NOTE when filling make sure that the water does not overflow to avoid wetting the sur face on which your Cimex Eradicator is re sting WARNING Never leave the filling bottle or the funnel resting on the mouth of the boi ler with the product connected to the power supply since this could cause burns 20 e Press down the generator on off switch F and the accessories on off switch A wich will light up together with the pressure indi cator light G e Wait until the steam pressure indicator light G goes out Cimex Eradicator is now ready for use e Open the cover of the central connector block P and insert the central connector R pressing the connector button S and taking care that the locking tab Q is cor rectly positioned in the lock in aperture U on the block Fig 3 e Unscrew the cap of the disposable bottle 2 Fig 5 e Insert the stopper 3 into the disposable bottle fig 6 until it rests on the base of the bottle ensuring that it stays as straight as possible Fig 7 e Screw the bottle into the bottle fitting taking care to ensure that the stopper enters the hole inside the fitting perfectly without ben ding Fig 8 WARNINGS Do not screw the bottle to the gun without the s

18. s a cleaning product for hard surfa ces Contains lt 5 non ionic surfactant EEC Reg 648 2004 SET UP Before using Cimex Eradicator for the first time assemble the pivoting wheels as indica ted in the Fig A ENGLISH ENGLISH CIMEX ERADICATOR PREPARATION FOR USE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE e Unscrew the patented safety cap B and fill the boiler with about 2 litres of water using the filler bottle 7 making sure that it does not overflow Fig 1 WARNING When filling a hot boiler we recommend adding small amounts of water to avoid the water evaporating in stantly with the risk of burning This appliance has been designed to work with normal tap water However since water contains limescale by nature which may cause scaling in the long run we recommend using a mixture of 50 tap water and 50 demineralised water or treated with water softener systems To use tap water only and avoid scale formation we recommend the addition of the special natural scale removal agent Kalstop FP2003 Absolutely do not use distilled water dryer condensate water perfumed wa ter rain water battery water water from air conditioning systems and the like Do not use chemical substances or deter gents e Carefully screw on the safety cap to hand tight Fig 2 Make sure the patented safety cap B is fully and correctly screwed on otherwise you may experience steam esca ping from around the cap In this case turn
19. ssories holder on the appli ance Fig 14 KALSTOP Water by its nature contains magnesium mi neral salts and other deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build up in the tank In very hard water areas we re commend the use of our Kalstop FP2003 a special natural base decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down limescale This is a preven tive against scale build up and protects the metal walls of the boiler Kalstop FP2003 can be found in small appliance stores Polti ser vice centres and on the web site www polti com CIMEX ERADICATOR STORING THE DEVICE When you have finished using the device put it away in a clean and dry place after discon necting it from the power mains Keep it away from sources of heat and protect from the weather MAINTENANCE Before carrying out any maintenance on the device always unplug it from the power mains and allow it to cool down before proceeding e For cleaning the outside of the device we recommend using a damp cloth Do not use solvents or detergents as these could da mage the surfaces e If the monotube is torn it must be replaced by an authorised service centre CLEANING OF THE DELIVERY NOZZLE Clean the delivery nozzle every 10 15 hours of use Clean the delivery nozzle using the brush 6 included in the supply sliding it inside the tube so as to remove any residues of scaling in it Fig 10 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLE
20. steam in the boi ler Never leave the filling bottle or the funnel resting on the mouth of the boiler with the product connected to the power supply since this could cause burns CIMEX ERADICATOR SAFETY WARNINGS using the appliance This appliance has been designed to work with normal tap water Absolutely do not use distilled water dryer condensate water perfumed water rain water battery water water from air conditioning systems and the like Do not use chemical substances or detergents Do not use limescale products other than Kalstop FP2003 Never leave the appliance exposed to the weather Do not place the appliance near a live element an electric stove or any other source of heat Do not expose the appliance to temperatures under 0 C or over 40 C Press the buttons only with a finger without excessive force and avoid using a pointed object such as a pen Do not wind the power cable around the appliance especially when the ap pliance is still hot To avoid prejudicing the safety of the appliance when repairing or replacing ac cessories use only original spare parts Let the appliance cool down before cleaning it Before storing the appliance make sure that it has completely cooled down It is necessary to keep the unit in horizontal position during operation Always rest the appliance on a stable surface Do not place the hot appliance on heat sensitive surfaces During use the appl
21. topper elfno consumption of HPMED is seen du ring use of the product this means that the stopper has not been inserted correc tly or has folded within the bottle Unscrew the bottle and repeat the inser tion procedure taking care to position it correctly Do not refill the disposable bottle e Wait until the heating lamp L turns off e Adjust the steam flow by turning the knob D to medium see Steam flow adjust ment section e Press the steam delivery push button K so that steam will be delivered through the delivery device Note e The handle is fitted with a safety switch J to prevent the accidental activation of steam delivery by children or people CIMEX ERADICATOR unaware of its function Should the ap pliance be left momentarily unguarded move the safety switch J to the off posi tion To continue steam delivery move the switch back to its original position e The first burst of steam may contain some water droplets due to imperfect thermic stabilisation inside the flexible hose We would therefore advise that the first jet of steam is played onto an old cloth until a constant pressure of steam is obtained e During use the delivery lamp L and the steam pressure indicator light G will light up and turn off This indicates that the electrical resistor is starting to work to keep the tempe rature in the delivery device steady This is a normal occurrence and it is therefore possi b
