Attach the Upright 13 to the Frame 1 with three M8 x 25mm Button Screws 33 and three M8 Split Washers 59 Tip Avoid pinch ing the Wire Harnesses during this step 9 Identify the Left Pedal 24 which is marked with an L sticker Using an adjustable wrench firmly tight en the Left Pedal counterclockwise into the left arm of the Crank 31 Tighten the Right Pedal not shown clockwise into the right arm of the Crank IMPOR TANT Tighten both Pedals as firmly as possible After using the exercise cycle for one week retighten the Pedals For best performance keep the Pedals tightened Adjust the Left Pedal Strap 25 to the desired posi tion and press the end of the Left Pedal Strap onto ODI the tab on the Left Pedal 24 Adjust the Right Pedal AS Strap not shown in the same way sp Tab 10 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the exercise cycle Note After assembly is completed some extra parts may be left over Place a mat beneath the exercise cycle to protect the floor HOW OPERATE THE EXERCISE CYCLE HOW TO ADJUST THE SEAT FRAME HOW TO ADJUST THE PEDAL STRAPS For effective exer cise the seat should be in the proper position As you pedal there should be a slight bend in your knees when the pedals are in the most forward posi tion To adjust the seat frame first loosen the adjust ment knob on the frame Slide the seat frame forward or backward to the des

3. follow the steps beginning on page 12 To use a preset workout see page 14 To use the sound system See page 14 Note If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console remove the plastic HOW USE THE MANUAL MODE 1 Press any button on the console or begin ped aling to turn on the console When you turn on the console the displays and the workout target pacer will light A tone will then sound and the console will be ready for use Select the manual mode When you turn on the console the manual mode will be selected If you have selected a workout reselect the manual mode by pressing one of the eight workout buttons on the console repeatedly until a track appears in the left display mr ttt rere 2080 Begin pedaling and change the resistance of the pedals as desired As you pedal change the resistance of the pedals by pressing the a Magnetic Resistance Resistance increase and decrease buttons There are ten resistance levels Note After you press the buttons it may take a moment for the pedals to reach the selected resistance level Follow your progress with the displays The upper right display can show the elapsed time the approximate number of calories you have burned and the dis tance you have pedaled The display will change information every few seconds 12 The lower right display can show your pedaling speed and the resistance level of
4. segment indicates the resistance level for the cur rent segment At the end of each segment of the workout a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash If a differ ent resistance level is programmed for the next segment the resistance level will appear in the display for a few seconds to alert you The resis tance of the pedals will then change During the workout the workout target pacer will prompt you to keep your pedaling speed near the target pace setting for the current segment When a left indicator lights increase your speed when a right indicator lights decrease your speed When the center indicator lights maintain your current speed IMPORTANT The workout target pacer is intended only to provide a goal Make sure to pedal at a speed that is comfortable for you GO FASTER gt GO SLOWER WORKOUT TARGET PACER If the resistance level for the current segment is too high or too low you can manually override the resistance level by pressing the Magnetic Resistance increase or decrease buttons However when the current segment ends the resistance of the pedals will automatically adjust to the resistance level programmed for the next seg ment If you stop pedaling for several seconds a series of tones will sound and the workout will pause To restart the workout simply resume pedaling The workout will continue until the last segment of the workout end

6. metal contacts on the handgrip pulse sensor remove the plas tic In addition make sure that your hands are clean To measure your heart rate hold the handgrip pulse sensor with your palms resting against the metal contacts Avoid moving your hands or gripping the contacts tightly When your pulse is detected a heart shaped sym bol will flash in the lower right display each time your heart beats one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate reading hold the con tacts for at least 15 seconds If your heart rate is not shown make sure that your hands are positioned as described Be care ful not to move your hands excessively or to squeeze the metal contacts tightly For optimal performance clean the metal contacts using a soft cloth never use alcohol abrasives or chemi cals to clean the contacts 13 Turn on the fan if desired The fan has high low and auto speed settings while the auto mode is selected the speed of the fan will automatically increase or decrease as you increase or decrease your pedaling speed Press the Fan button repeatedly to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan Note If the pedals do not move for about thirty seconds the fan will turn off auto matically Pivot the thumb tab on the right side of the fan to adjust the fan angle To turn off the fan press the Fan button again Note If the pedals do not move for abou

When the Reed Switch is cor rectly adjusted reattach the left side shield and the BATTERY REPLACEMENT left pedal If the console display becomes dim the batteries should be replaced most console problems are the result of low batteries To replace the batteries see assembly step 6 on page 8 HOW TO ADJUST THE REED SWITCH If the console does not display correct feedback the reed switch should be adjusted To adjust the reed switch you must first remove the Left Side Shield 9 Using an adjustable wrench turn the Left Pedal 24 clockwise and remove it Next remove the M4 x 16mm Screws 57 and the M4 x 25mm Screw 45 Then carefully remove the Left Side Shield HANDGRIP PULSE SENSOR TROUBLESHOOTING If the handgrip pulse sensor does not function properly see step 5 on page 13 15 EXERCISE GUIDELINES WARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physician This is especially important for persons over the age of 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The pulse sensor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The pulse sensor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin ing heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successfu

14. l results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 145 138 130 125 120 115 130 125 115 Y 118 110 103 Y 105 95 90 20 30 40 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 16 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascu
15. lar system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic exercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest between workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent s

19. s 4 Follow your progress with the displays See step 4 on page 12 5 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 5 on page 13 6 Turn on the fan if desired See step 6 on page 13 7 When you are finished exercising the console will turn off automatically See step 7 on page 13 HOW TO USE THE SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console s sound system while you exercise plug an audio cable not included into the jack on the console and into a jack on your MP3 player or CD player make sure that the audio cable is fully plugged in Next press the play button on your MP3 player or CD player Adjust the volume of the speakers using the volume control on your MP3 player or CD player 14 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the exercise With the left side shield removed locate the Reed cycle regularly Replace any worn parts immediately Switch 43 Turn the Crank 31 until the Magnet 38 is aligned with the Reed Switch Next loosen but do To clean the exercise cycle use a damp cloth and a not remove the indicated M4 x 16mm Screw 57 small amount of mild soap IMPORTANT To avoid Slide the Reed Switch slightly closer to or away from damage to the console keep liquids away from the Magnet and then retighten the Screw Turn the the console and keep the console out of direct Crank for a moment Repeat until the console dis sunlight plays correct feedback

22. the pedals The display will change modes every few seconds The display will also show your heart rate when you use the handgrip pulse sensor see step 5 on page 13 The left display will show a track repre senting 1 4 mile As you exercise indicators will appear in succes sion around the track until the entire track appears The track will then disappear and the indicators will again begin to appear in succession To change the display mode press the Display but ton repeatedly until the desired exercise information appears in the upper or lower right display After several seconds the displays will change modes automatically as before Note The console can display speed and dis tance in either miles or kilometers The letters MPH or KM H will appear while your ped aling speed is dis played to show which unit of measurement is selected To change the unit of measurement first press the Display button for a few seconds until the display is blank then release the Display button Press the Fan button repeatedly to change the unit of measurement You can also adjust the volume of the console tones at this time Press the Magnetic Resistance increase and decrease buttons to select a volume level between 1 and 5 When you have selected the desired unit of measurement and vol ume level press the Display button again 5 Measure your heart rate if desired If there are sheets of clear plastic on the
