Rino 520 530 Owner s Manual APPENDIX gt TRANSFERRING MapSource DATA 9 WorldMap Map data transfer requires the use of a PC a Garmin MapSource Data Disk and the PC Interface Cable with USB port connector supplied with this unit Follow instructions for data transfer in the MapSource User s Manual To set up for data transfer 1 Before attaching the data cable to your PC install the Trips and Waypoints Manager CD ROM provided with your unit It also installs USB drivers specifically needed to communicate with your Rino Remove the Data Port cover on the back of the unit by lifting up on the protective cover on the back of the unit Connect the Mini USB connector on the cable to the PC USB port Connect the remaining Mini USB connector to the back of the Rino 520 530 by orienting the connector with the slot on the back of the unit Turn on the Rino 520 530 and follow instructions for map data transfer provided in the MapSource User s Manual 103 APPENDIX gt TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Radio Troubleshooting Guide range between radios If GMRS power may be set too low You can hear others but they cannot hear You are on the same channel but a different Code If you are using Code zero 0 you will hear all transmissions on that you Or you see an incoming transmission but channel Use the same Code 1 38 as the other party or use Scan to nothing is heard Find what Code they are using Message garbled

Owner s Manual Highway Page When you are navigating a Go To or Route the Highway Page can guide you to your destination using navigation data fields and a graphic highway Up to four user selectable data fields display information such as speed distance time to next point on the route etc The Show Data Fields options are similar to the Map and Compass pages The highway graphic provides a visual path to your destination Your course 1s represented by a center line in the middle of the graphic As you move toward each point on the route the graphic shows the direction you should move to stay on course to the point You can add this page to the page sequence by using the Page Sequence Setup option To navigate using the Highway Page 1 While on an active route press the Page Quit button or the Main Page button to access the Main Menu Rino 520 530 Owner s Manual Unit OPERATION gt HIGHWAY PAGE Highlight the Highway Page icon from the Main Menu and press the Thumb Stick In to observe your path of travel displayed on the highway graphic Press the Options Menu button to display the Options Menu and select Data Fields to customize the page to your requirements Select Show 3 Data Fields or 4 Data Fields Highlight the first field and press the Thumb Stick In to display the list of data options Repeat for each field a El x Speed Dist To Next ETA At Dest Time To Next 11 03 00 42 Highw

18. a voice scramble feature This feature causes your message to sound garbled to other FRS users that are not part of your group However it does not guarantee your conversations will be 100 percent private and secure Other casual FRS users will not hear your messages but users with similar radios or more technically oriented users can still monitor your conversations FRS Limitations If you are operating in an urban environment or in varying terrain some features such as canyons or mountains act as obstructions limiting the maximum reception range of your FRS radio The UHF FRS frequencies are line of sight meaning that the signals do not follow the surface of the earth but instead radiate in a straight line from the transmitting antenna If there Rino 520 530 Owner s Manual is an obstruction between the transmitting FRS radio and the receiving FRS radio the signal will not be received Smaller obstructions such as trees cars and even crowds of people cause some loss of signal resulting in reduced maximum range GMRS Radio The use of a GMRS General Mobile Radio Service radio requires an FCC license refer to the Web site http www_wireless fcc gov uls for details No license is required in Canada to operate on GMRS channels The operating frequency of GMRS ranges from 462 550 to 462 725 MHz GMRS radios can use repeater channels 15R 22R and repeater towers to extend the range of the operation A repeater tow
