7. ANN PLEASE NOTE The microphone is a special ultrasonic sensor made in MEMS technology Because of the highly sensitive technology the microphone is sensitive against humidity Therefore with fog rain or condensed water the sensitivity can decrease massively Please do not blow into the microphone Particles from cigarette smoke can damage the microphone permanently In most cases the normal function is restored the next day Please keep the device at a clean and dry place e g in a dry wooden box Adding a package of silica gel would be useful Please do not try to dry with excessive warmth like using an oven microwave hairdryer or heater If the normal function does not appear again after several days possibly lime salt or dirt particles have settled within the microphone In these cases the problem can be repaired only by exchange of the microphone By newer SSF BAT2 devices with serial number ending with S or marked with a green dot the serial number is in the battery compartment the microphone is now a plug in device and can easily be exchanged by the customer Spare microphones can be ordered for 10 00 at the company Microelectronic Volkmann Older devices must be sent in for microphone exchange to the company Microelectronic Volkmann In this case there is a service charge of 15 00 plus shipping costs The service includes a plug in for easy microphone exchange firmware update and an additional hand strap
