11. 6614 WSB Card Appendix RAID Setup IEI Technology Corp ROCKY 6614 CPU Card Introduction E 1 1 RAID Support The SiS964 southbridge chipset integrated controller supports the following three SATA RAID levels JBOD RAIDO RAID1 E 1 2 What is RAID RAID or redundant array of inexpensive disks is a method of saving data on multiple disks so that if one of the disks is damaged or destroyed the data on the disks will not be lost Although there are more RAID levels than those mentioned above only the three RAID levels mentioned above can be implemented on your system JBOD stands for Just a Bunch Of Disks This is not a RAID level and if any thing happens to one hard drive all the information on that drive will be lost RAIDO refers to disk striping That is data is distributed striped over multiple disks This increases the overall disk performance but the data is not redundantly stored and therefore any damage to the system disks will result in a loss of information RAID1 refers to disk mirroring The information on one disk is completely mirrored onto a second disk That means the effective storage capacity of your hard disks is halved but the data on the disks is safe If one of the disks is destroyed or damaged in any way the information on that disk can be retrieved from the second disk E 2 RAID Setup E 2 1 Introduction To setup the RAID the following proce
