Operator s Manual DIGITAL CONTROL INCORPORATED l gt CI Fluid Pressure Transmitter Using a fluid pressure transmitter FPT or TensiTrak will show instantaneous fluid pressure on the right side of the screen The pressure icon on the Home Normal screen will flash yellow slowly when the pressure reaches the warning level and f flash red quickly when it reaches the critical level These warnings are accompanied bv audible beeps A blue ball on the gauge marks the maximum Warning recorded pressure it resets when Aurora restarts Z Readings exceeding the maximum value of 250 psi 17 2 bar will display as OL Critical Warning and critical values are user defined as specified on the Alarms screen f see page 14 The Fluid Pressure Historv graph below the pressure value shows a graph of the Historv last four minutes of fluid pressure readings Use this historv to determine if HAW pressure is trending up or down If you are not using an FPT or TensiTrak transmitter pressure data will not display Depth Readings When the receiver takes a depth reading at the locate line LL Aurora adds the blue Depth Bar which provides transmitter depth and pitch information beside the roll indicator IOC F5 Ch 1 b S 3 12PM og Depth timer 100 1 HAG on Current pitch gt 1 0 Depth at time of reading Depth bar Pitch at time of reading ale Home Screen Depth Reading

6. on the receiver for a standard transmitter will displav on Aurora automaticallv To enable roll offset for a cable transmitter tap Main Menu e Peripherals B and then the Roll Offset o tab Menu shortcut Tap and hold the roll indicator 00 The letters RO on Aurora s roll indicator indicate when it is compensating for roll offset Temperature All DigiTrak transmitters including TensiTrak are equipped with an internal Normal digital thermometer Drill head temperatures typically range from 64 to 104 F l 18 to 407 C during drilling The temperature icon on the Home screen will flash orange slowly when the temperature reaches the warning level and flash red l quickly when it reaches the critical level These warnings are accompanied by Warning audible beeps Suspend drilling when drill head temperature exceeds 118 F d 487 C to permit cooling Because the digital thermometer is inside the transmitter temperature increases Critical due to external drilling conditions will take time to transfer to the transmitter and d then the thermometer Resolve increases in temperature quickly to avoid irreversible damage g Historv Warning and critical values are user defined as specified on the Alarms screen see page 14 The Temperature Historv graph below the temperature value shows a graph of the last four minutes of temperature readings Use this historv to determine if temperature is trending up or down 22 DigiTrak Aurora
7. panel shows the transmitter drill head having reached the intended bore path and drilling directly toward the target While drilling monitor the yellow steering indicator ball closely make small steering adjustments and watch and wait for the results The closer the drill head is to the receiver the more sensitive the steering indicator becomes s it approaches the target reduce the amount of the turn When the indicator is centered on the target and surrounded by a green ring the drill head is correctly positioned on the intended bore path to drill toward the target IDET F5 Ch 1 byd F 3 12PM Alignment marks LE Target Steering Screen Drill Head Aligned On Intended Bore Path This screen shows the drill head correctly aligned to reach the target at 7 8 2 3 m ahead and the drill head is currentiv 1 11 0 6 m below the horizontal plane of the receiver At this point the closer the pitch is to zero the less the indicator will tend to move above or below the target The red alignment marks help show when the drill head is aligned with the target The yellow steering indicator ball can only show steering corrections within the limits of the target steering screen Once the ball nears the edge or has pegged drilling farther off course will not be reflected on the remote display Make the necessary steering corrections and when the ball begins moving closer to the target be prepared to reduce t
8. symptoms of overheating is an unresponsive touchscreen To restore functionalitv in this case shade the displav from direct sunlight turn down the screen brightness and allow it to cool If possible turn the displav completelv off using the power button or bv removing power from the displav After sufficient cooling time full functionality will return If Aurora senses it is overheating it will slow processing tasks to minimize heat and protect internal components lf overheating continues it will shut down before anv damage can occur lf this happens stop drilling immediatelv keep the Aurora off and in shade and allow fifteen minutes for it to cool before restarting If excessive heat causes the touch function to become unresponsive vou can still use a USB mouse to make selections such as accessing the Settings window to lower the screen brightness General Turn off the displav when not in use Store the displav in its case awav from extremes of heat cold and moisture Test to confirm proper operation prior to use Inspect the display daily and contact DCI if you see any damage or problems Do not disassemble or attempt to repair DigiTrak Aurora Operator s Manual 3 gt CI DIGITAL CONTROL INCORPORATED Introduction Aurora DigiTrak Series Display Panel Mounted AP8 The Aurora DigiTrak Series Display is a multifunction touchscreen device that is compatible with SEP F Series and future model DigiT
