2. lead before beginning work This can be done with lead test kits or by a professional decorator Ifin doubt we recommend the following precautions when sanding any paint or MDF PERSONALSAFETY No children or pregnant women should enter the work area where the paint sanding is being done until all cleaning up has been completed Adust mask or respirator should be worn by all persons entering the work area The filter should be replaced daily or whenever the wearer has difficulty breathing Note Only those dust masks suitable for working with lead paint dust and fumes should be used Ordinary paint masks do not offer this protection No eating drinking or smoking should be done inthe work area to preventingesting paint particles Workers should wash and clean up before eating drinking or smoking Articles of food drink etc should not be left in the work area where dust could settle on them ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY Paint should be removed in such a manner as to minimise the amount of dust generated Areas where paint removal is occurring should be sealed with plastic sheeting Sanding should be done in a manner to reduce tracking of paint dust outside the work area CLEANING ANDDISPOSAL All surfaces in the work area should be vacuumed and thoroughly cleaned daily forthe duration ofthe sanding project Vacuum filter bags should be changed frequently Items of clothing dust sheets toys washable furniture and utensils should be

10. our sander canbe used in one of two ways withthe sanding platen either with the pointed detail section atthe frontofyour sander orwiththe square section atthe frontofyoursander FITTING THE SANDPAPER Your sander uses pre cut punched nylon backed sheets of a specific size and shape To fit the sandpaper proceed as follows Disconnectthe plug from the electricity supply Detach the two diamond shaped spare tips from the main sheet Place the sandpaper onthe pointed base making sure the holes of the paper are aligned Never use your sander without sandpaper and always use a full sheet of paper Each sheet of sandpaperhasa Sh removabletip withtwo sparetips attached To obtain maximum use fromeachsheet detach andturnthe tip when the front partis worn When the whole tip is worn replace it with a newtip whichis available as an accessory The tip of the backing pad is removable When the front partis worn turn the tip When the tip is completely worn replace the tip Spare tips are available as accessories When the tip of the hard plastic tip holder is worn remove the screw and turn the holder Spare holders are available as accessories ENGLISH DUST EXTRACTION SYSTEM Most of the dust from the work surface is collected in the dustbag The extraction fan of your sander draws the dust from the surface through the holes in the sanding platen The dustthen passes through the fan shro

12. t OPERATING YOURSANDER To switch your sander on slide the on off switch forward until the mark I appears To switch your sander off slide the on off switch to the rear until the mark 0 appears Before plugging your sander in make sure itis switched off SPEED CON TROL KA 110E The speed control switch 2 givesthe bestoperating performanceforeach material As a general rule use low speed for polishing and for sanding acrylic synthetic materials and high speed for wood and metal The following table gives an indication of which settings to use Material Variable speed setting Hardwood beech 4 5 Softwood pine 4 5 Veneerwood 3 4 Synthetic materials 2 3 Acrylic sheet 1 3 Non ferrous metals 4 5 Steel 3 4 Lacquer and paintremoval 3 5 Polishing 1 2 Rustremoval 4 5 REM OVING AND REFITTING THE SANDING PLATEN Proceed as follows Disconnectthe plug from the electricity supply Ne Turnthe platen locking lever 3 anti clockwise to the left from the front of your sander and lift your sander offthe platen To refitthe sanding platen place the back of the sander into the locating points on the platen and push the front downwards The platen locking lever should now be turned clockwise to the right from the front of your sander ENGLISH into the locked position Note Make sure that the leveris fully down before operating the sander Y
13. ud to the dustbag You can connect your sander to avacuum cleaner for dust extraction purposes An adapter is available from Black amp Decker as a part REM OVINGAND EMPTYING THE DUSTBAG Disconnectthe plugfromthe electricity supply Hold your sander vertically withthe dustbagfacing downwards Pullthe bag gently holding the grips on the side of the dustbag Emptythe dustbag and replace onthe sander Aclickis heard when the dustbag is correctly fitted Do not wash the dustbag Empty the dustbag every 10 minutes HANDY HINTS Always hold your e Always sand with the grain of the wood If you sand across the grain you may leave swirl marks e Your sander can be used in two different ways either in detail mode for accessing corners or in orbital mode for flush sanding up against edges e Replace worn sandpaper e Usethe correct grade of sandpaper Low grit coarse sandpaper gives a high material removal rate with a coarse finish High grit fine sandpaper gives a low material removal rate with a finer finish Asa general rule start with the low grit paper and finish with the higher grit TOOLCARE Do not apply excessive pressure when you use your sander This can cause your sander to overheat If your sander becomes too hot operate it off load for 2 minutes Keep the cooling vents on the motor housing clear sander with two hands To clean your sander proceed as follows Disconnectthe plug from t
