USER MANUAL Thank you for purchasing the GOLDMUND EPILOGUE 2 Please take some time to read this manual It may provide you with useful information to make your pleasure of listening to the Epilogue even higher INTRODUCTION GOLDMUND EPILOGUE 2 Bass Speaker System Goldmund was founded in 1978 and has ever since been dedicated to the accurate reproduction of sound and image At Goldmund we strive to lead in the creation development and manufacture of the industry s most advanced technologies including audio and video systems home networking and music distribution The guiding principle at Goldmund is to produce a precise sound with the least possible loss of quality through the different stages Goldmund will never adopt a technology before it is sufficiently developed to satisfy the high quality standards we set This is why Goldmund has often rejected mainstream technologies and developed its own User Manual GOLDMUND Epilogue 2 2 W A R N I N GI These extremely high quality speakers possess new technical features which are a necessity for an accurate sound reproduction in the best audio systems Only careful installation and use can provide the satisfaction you are expecting The installation instructions must be scrupulously carried out and the mentioned precautions taken to get the expected result and to avoid deteriorating the speakers Nevertheless if the instructions are perfectly carried out you w
4. by moving a speaker without lifting the point User Manual GOLDMUND Epilogue 2 6 NOTE The short pointed bar is for mounting on the bottom of the Epilogue 1 You have to assemble it to the bottom of the Epilogue 1 ASSEMBLING THE SPEAKER FEET NOTE This is for users who will NOT use the Epiframe 1 The Epiframe 1 is an external structure holding an Epilogue 2 and an Epilogue 1 together This accessory is sold separately e First put the speaker on its side on the floor Use a soft cushion to avoid damaging it e Screw the long pointed bar in the threading accessible in the speaker s bottom plate after removing the big screw used for shipment Tighten as much as you can e Take the 2 transparent acrylic feet and assemble them to the back of the Epilogue 2 speaker each with 2 washers and screws Do not over tighten the screws to avoid cracking the acrylic e Lift the Epilogue 2 speaker and put it on its feet Adjust the leveling screw of each acrylic foot to properly level each Epilogue 2 speaker e You will now be ready to put the Epilogue 1 on top of the Epilogue 2 e Use the transparent acrylic small blocks to receive the back of the Epilogue 1 e The pointed bar assembled previously on the bottom of the Epilogue 1 must be set in the gliding row engraved on the top silver plate of the Epilogue 2 User Manual GOLDMUND Epilogue 2 7 CONNECTING THE AMPLIFIER S The Epilogue 2 and Epilogue 1 together may be powere
5. d using any of the following combinations e One single stereo amp or a pair of monos with one single Speaker Cable set e One single stereo amp or a pair of monos with dual Speaker Cable e Two stereo amp or two pair of monos with each a Speaker Cable set See the connection schematics below for more detail on each type of connection NOTE You may also use an electronic crossover to separate Epilogue 2 and Epilogue 1 frequencies In such a case one power amp will feed the Epilogue 1 and one will feed the Epilogue 2 On the Epilogue 2 move the large switch to Direct which disconnects the internal crossover for the Epilogue 2 drivers In all other above cases leave this switch to STD ATTENTION Each Epilogue 2 Speaker is delivered with two gold plated jumpers on the bottom 5 way binding posts Leave those jumpers in place only if you use one single stereo amplifier or a single pair of mono amplifiers with a single set of speaker cables In all other cases you have to remove them before making any connection If you do not use Goldmund amplifiers select amplifiers with sufficient speed and dynamic range to do justice to the qualities of the Epilogue A slow amplifier will not have the capability to properly hold the ultra fast drivers of the Epilogue You may now connect first the short coaxial cable between the Epilogue 1 and the Epilogue 2 On the Epilogue 2 connect it to the connector marked Epilogue 1 Other cable
6. essitate a lot of care Open the two cartons and remove the speakers If you already own a pair of Epilogue 1 Satellite System and have purchased the Epi Frame support open the Epi Frame box too and remove the feet parts Unpack the speakers close to the location where they will be standing ATTENTION If you need to return the speakers to the factory or to your local representative for a warranty repair please note that it must be repacked in the original packing This packaging has been designed specifically to protect the Epilogue 2 in transit Use of alternative packaging is likely to result in damage invalidating warranty cover User Manual GOLDMUND Epilogue 2 5 SELECTING THE SPEAKERS LOCATION Even more than for the Epilogue 1 alone you will need a very strong support for the Epilogue 1 plus Epilogue 2 system A very rigid floor is very important for the optimal sonic result of your Epilogue speakers Select a position of the speaker that will provide the most rigid possible coupling with the floor Solid coupling is essential and if your support is standing on a suspended floor optimal result requires that you arrange the support to have at least the pointed foot above a supporting beam or close enough from a supporting wall ATTENTION The pointed feet supporting the front of the Epilogue 2 are very hard They are designed to go through a carpeted floor If your floor is made of wood or tile be careful not to scratch it
