8. e Keep your tool case away from walk areas so that other people will not trip over it e Do not wear loose clothing that can be trapped in the moving parts of a machine Ensure that your sleeves are fastened or rolled up above your elbows If your hair is long fasten it e Insert the ends of your necktie or scarf inside clothing or fasten it with a nonconductive clip approximately 8 centimeters 3 inches from the end e Do not wear jewelry chains metal frame eyeglasses or metal fasteners for your clothing Remember Metal objects are good electrical conductors e Wear safety glasses when you are hammering drilling soldering cutting wire attaching springs using solvents or working in any other conditions that might be hazardous to your eyes e After service reinstall all safety shields guards labels and ground wires Replace any safety device that is worn or defective e Reinstall all covers correctly before returning the machine to the customer CAUTION Electrical current from power telephone and communication cables can be hazardous To avoid personal injury or equipment damage disconnect the attached power cords telecommunication systems networks and modems before you open the computer covers unless instructed otherwise in the installation and configuration procedures Electrical safety Observe the following rules when working on electrical equipment Copyright Lenovo 2013 3 Important Use only a

Power management Power management reduces the power consumption of certain components of the computer such as the system power supply processor hard disk drives and display Automatic configuration and power interface ACPI BIOS Being an ACPI BIOS system the operating system is allowed to control the power management features of the computer and the setting for Advanced Power Management APM BIOS mode is ignored Not all operating systems support ACPI BIOS mode Automatic Power on features The Automatic Power On features within the Power Management menu allow you to enable and disable features that turn on the computer automatically e Wake Up on Alarm You can specify a date and time at which the computer will be turned on automatically This can be either a single event or a daily event e Wake on LAN If the computer has a properly configured token ring or Ethernet LAN adapter card that is Wake on LAN enabled and there is remote network management software you can use the Wake on LAN feature When you set Wake on LAN to Enabled the computer will turn on when it receives a specific signal from another computer on the local area network LAN To enable the Wake on LAN function or the Wake Up on Alarm function on the Windows 8 operating system do the following 1 Open Control Panel 2 Click Hardware and Sound gt Power Options 3 In the left panel click Choose what the power buttons do 4 In the Shutdown setting secti
