1. 3 Go to your computer and start an internet connection Start your web browser if necessary and go to our Web site at www iFIT com Follow the desired links on our Web site to se lect a program Read and follow the on line instructions for using a program Follow the on line instructions to start the program When you start the program an on screen count down will begin 24 Return to the treadmill and stand on the foot rails Find the clip attached to the key and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes 7 When the on screen countdown ends the program will begin and the walking belt will begin to move Hold the handrails step onto the walking belt and begin walking During the program an electronic chirping sound will alert you when the speed and or incline of the treadmill is about to change CAUTION Always listen for the chirp and be prepared for speed and or incline changes If the speed or incline settings are too high or too low you can manually override the settings at any time by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons on the console However when the next chirp is heard the speed and or incline will change to the next settings of the program To stop the walking belt at any time press the Stop button on the console The time will begin to flash in the main display To restart the program press the Start button or the Speed button After a moment the walking b

The center of the main display will show the total number of miles that the walking belt has moved LAPSO DISTANCE OPU An E for English miles or an M for metric kilometers will appear on the right side of the main display Press the Speed button to change the unit of measure ment IMPORTANT Make sure that there is not a letter D in the main display If a D appears in the display the console is in the demo mode This mode is intended to be used only when a treadmill is displayed in a store When the console is in the demo mode the power cord can be plugged in the key can be removed from the console and the displays and indicators on the console will automatically light in a preset sequence although the buttons on the console will not operate If a D ap pears in the display when the information mode is selected press the Speed button so that it disap pears heso OPULSE FATO CALORIES To exit the information mode remove the key from the console 25 HOW TO USE THE AROMATHERAPY SYSTEM To make your workouts more enjoyable the console features an aromatherapy system To use NordicTrack RE JUVENAIRE essential oils with the console press the scent pads into the recepti cals beside the fans Deposit a few drops of es sential oil onto each scent pad As you exercise turn on the fans to cir culate

Various factors including the user s move ment may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The pulse sensors are intended only as exercise aids in determining heart rate trends in general The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex ercise program For more detailed exercise informa tion obtain a reputable book or consult your physician EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity The proper intensity level can be found by using your heart rate as a guide The chart below shows recom mended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise HEART RATE TRAINING ZONES AEROBIC 165 155 145 140 130 125 115 MAX FAT BURN 145 138 130 t25 118 110 103 FAT BURN 125 120 115 110 105 95 90 Age 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper heart rate for you first find your age near the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the nearest ten years Next find the three numbers above your age The three numbers define your train ing zone The lower two numbers are recommended heart rates for fat burning the higher number is the recommended heart rate for aerobic exercise To measure your heart rate during exercise use the pulse sensor on the console Fat Burning To burn fat effectively you must exercise at a relatively low intensity level for a sustained period
6. current segment simply press the Speed or Incline buttons When the current segment is completed the new setting will be saved in mem ory To increase the length of the program first wait until the program is completed Then press the Start button and program speed and incline settings for as many additional segments as desired Note While you are adding segments to the program the speed settings in the program display will not move to the left Instead each time a segment is completed the flashing Current Segment column will move one column to the right If the Current Segment column reaches the right side of the pro gram display when the current segment is com pleted all columns of indicators in the program dis play will move three columns to the left When you have added as many segments as desired press the Stop button twice To decrease the length of the program press the Stop button twice at any time before the program is completed To stop the program temporarily press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the main dis play To restart the program press the Start but ton or the Speed button To end the program press the Stop button remove the key and then reinsert the key 4 Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on page 12 5 When the program has ended remove the key See step 7 on page 15 HOW TO USE HEART RATE PROGRAMS Heart rate programs automatically adjust the speed
7. darken in those columns as well Note If you manually adjust the speed setting so that all of the indicators in the Current Segment column are lit the speed settings in the program display will not move downward as described above Note If you manually override the speed or incline setting when the next seg ment begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To stop the program temporarily press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the main dis play To restart the program press the Start button or the Speed button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next segment begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To end the program press the Stop button remove the key and then reinsert the key 4 Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on page 12 5 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 13 G Turn on the fans if desired See step 7 on page 13 When the program has ended remove the key 15 Step onto the foot rails and make sure that the in cline of the treadmill is at the lowest level Next remove the key from the console and put it in a se cure place Note If the displays and indicators on the console remain lit after the key is re moved the console is in the demo mode See page 25 and turn off the demo mode When you are fini
8. in memory for future use cess programs directly from the internet Additional op tions are soon to be available See www iFIT com for In addition the console offers four heart rate programs more information that automatically adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill to keep your heart rate near a target level while you exercise 10 A CAUTION Before operating the console read the following precautions e Do not stand on the walking belt when turn ing on the power e Always wear the clip see the drawing below while operating the treadmill e Adjust the speed in small increments in order to avoid sudden jumps in speed e The pulse sensors are not medical devices Various factors including the user s move ment may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The pulse sensors are intended only as exercise aids in determining heart rate trends in general e If you have heart problems or if you are over 60 years of age and have been inactive do not use the heart rate programs If you are taking medication regularly consult your physician to find whether the medication will affect your exercise hart rate e To reduce the possibility of electric shock keep the console dry Avoid spilling liquids on the console and place only a sealed water bottle in the water bottle holder GETTING STARTED 1 Attach the clip to the waistband of your clothes Stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attac
9. is about to change the speed setting and or incline setting will flash in the main display to alert you When the first seg ment is completed all speed settings will move one column to the left The speed setting for the second segment will then be shown in the flashing Current Segment column and the treadmill will au tomatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the second segment Note If all of the indica tors in the Current Segment column are lit after the speed settings have moved to the left the speed settings will move downward so that only the high est indicators appear in the program display If some of the indicators in the Current Segment col umn are not lit when the speed settings move to the left again the speed settings will move back up The program will continue in this way until the speed setting for the last segment is shown in the Current Segment column and no time remains in the program The walking belt will then slow to a stop If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low during the program you can manually override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline but tons on the console Every few times one of the Speed buttons is pressed an additional indicator will light or darken in the Current Segment column If any of the columns to the right of the Current Segment column have the same number of lit indi cators as the Current Segment column an addi tional indicator may light or
10. lap will then begin Full Spectrum Programming The Training Zone display As you exercise the Training Zone display will show the approximate intensity level of your exercise For example if four to six indicators in the display are lit your intensity level is ideal for fat burning wm OO ODO O FATBURN ENDURANCE TRAINING ZONES J sn RR con TRON a PERFORMANCE m eo m WARM UP COOL DOWN The main display The main display will show the following information Incline The left side of the main display shows AE the incline level of the E treadmill aon INCLINE Time Pace When the manual mode or the iFIT com mode is se lected the next section of the main display will show the elapsed time and your current pace pace is measured in min utes per mile The display will change from one number to the other every few seconds the Pace indicator will light when your pace is shown When a program is selected the display will show the time remaining in the program your current pace and the time remaining in the current segment of the program O SEG TIME PACEO TIME Distance Laps The center section of the main display shows the distance that you have walked and the number of 1 4 mile laps you have completed The display will change from one number to the other every f
11. rate using either the handgrip pulse sensor or the chest pulse sensor To use the hand grip pulse sensor stand on the foot rails and place your hands on the metal contacts on the handgrip pulse sensor Your palms Metal Contacts must be resting on the upper contacts and your fingers OPULSE FATO must be touching CALORIES the lower con tacts avoid mov ing your hands When your pulse is detected the Pulse indicator will light and then your heart rate will be shown in the main display For the most accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds Turn on the fans if desired To turn on the fans at low speed press the Fans button To turn on the fans at high speed press the Fans button a second time To turn off the fans press the Fans buttons a third time Note Any time that the walking belt is stopped for a few minutes the fans will automatically turn off When you are finished exercising stop the walking belt and remove the key Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and adjust the incline of the treadmill to the lowest level The incline must be at the lowest level when the treadmill is raised to the storage position or the treadmill will be damaged Next remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place Note If the displays and indicators on the con sole remain lit after the key is removed the console is in the demo mode
12. replaced see page 30 OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PERFORMANT LUBE WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE a high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking plat form Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or service man if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded Do not modify the plug provided with the product f it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician Your treadmill like any other type of sophisticated electronic equipment can be seriously damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interference can result from weather conditions or from other appli ances being turned on or off To decrease the possi bility of your treadmill being damaged always use a surge suppressor with your treadmill see draw ing 1 at the right To purchase a surge suppres sor see your local NordicTrack dealer or call 1 800 806 3651 and order part number 146148 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge sup pressor TVSS The surge s

Knob 113 back onto the Latch Pin 107 3 With the help of a second person raise the Walking Platform 24 to the storage position and make sure that the latch pin is engaged as described on page 26 Position the Base Plate 91 on the treadmill as shown Attach the Base Plate with the three 2 Bolts 92 Note It may be helpful if a second person tips the treadmill slightly as you tighten the Bolts If the treadmill rocks slightly turn one or both of the Leveling Feet 127 under the Uprights 99 until the rocking motion is eliminated Carefully lower the Walking Platform 24 to the floor as described on page 27 4 7 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill Keep the included allen wrench in a secure place The allen wrench is used to adjust the walking belt see page 29 To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Insert a Handrail 138 into each side of the console as sembly Note It may be helpful to twist the Handrails as you insert them Cut the tie securing the Upright Wire Harness 119 Have a second person hold the console assembly near the Uprights 99 Connect the Upright Wire Harness to the wire harness extending from the Console Base 130 The connectors should slide together easily and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again Insert the connectors and the Upright Wire Harness down into the right Uprigh

UTION The power does not turn on a Check the reset off circuit breaker located on the Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet see page 9 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 9 Important The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is fully inserted into the console treadmill frame near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the circuit breaker has tripped To reset the circuit breaker wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Tripped The power turns off during use a d e Check the circuit breaker located on the treadmill frame near the power cord see c above If the circuit breaker has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Make sure that the power cord is plugged in If the power cord is plugged in unplug it wait for five minutes and then plug it back in Remove the key from the console Reinsert the key fully into the console Make sure that the reset off circuit breaker is in the reset position If the treadmill still will not run please call our Customer Service Department toll free The displays of the console do not function properly a Remove the key from the console and unplug the power c

22. e PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the allen wrench to turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left bolt counterclock wise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered b If the walking belt slips when walked on first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn both rear roller bolts clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each side of the walking belt 3 to 4 inches off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Plug in the power cord insert the key and care fully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened PROBLEM The treadmill rocks during use SOLUTION a If the treadmill rocks slightly during use turn one or both of the Leveling Feet 127 under the Upright 99 until the the rocking motion is eliminated Note If nec essary tip the treadmill forward and use a phillips screwdriver to turn the Leveling Feet 29 PROBLEM The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly
23. e Wear appropriate exercise clothes when using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recommended for both men and women Always wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals When connecting the power cord see page 9 plug the power cord into a surge suppressor not included and plug the surge suppressor into a grounded circuit capable of carrying 15 or more amps No other appliance should be on the same circuit Do not use an extension cord Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 9 To purchase a surge suppressor see your local NordicTrack dealer or call 1 800 806 3651 and order part number 146148 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 Failure to use a properly functioning surge suppressor could result in damage to the con trol system of the treadmill If the control sys tem is damaged the walking belt may change speed or stop unexpectedly which may result in a fall and serious injury Keep the power cord and the surge suppres sor away from heated surfaces Never move the walking belt while the power is turned off Do not operate the treadmill if the power cord or plug is damaged or if the treadmill is not working properly See BEFORE YOU BEGIN on page 5 if the tread mill is not working properly Never star

56. until assembly is completed Assembly requires the included allen wrench and your own flat bladed screwdriver wire cutters gt and adjustable wrench ni Note The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high performance lubricant During shipping a small amount of lubricant may be transferred to the top of the treadmill or the shipping carton This is a normal condition and does not affect treadmill performance If there is lubricant on top of the walking belt or foot pads simply wipe off the lubricant with a soft cloth and a mild non abrasive cleaner For help identifying the assembly hardware see the PART IDENTIFICATION CHART on page 35 1 Slide the treadmill out of the box Insert the three Cage Nuts 96 into the three indicated holes in the treadmill Note To insert each Cage Nut first hook one side of the Cage Nut into a hole see the inset drawing and then use a flat bladed screwdriver to press the other side into the hole 2 With the help of a second person carefully raise both Uprights 99 to a vertical position Make sure that the Latch Knob Sleeve 111 is in the left Upright Remove the Latch Knob 113 from the Latch Pin 107 Make sure that the Latch Pin Collar 109 and the Spring 110 are on the Latch Pin Note If there are two Latch Pin Collars place one on each side of the Spring Insert the Latch Pin into the Latch Knob Sleeve 111 and the Left Upright 99 Tighten the Latch
