16. ared services agreement with the NYS DOT They are allowing us the use of their Ludingtonville Road salt storage building for one year which is a God send for the Town of Kent Luckily amp coincidentally the DOT needs fill right around the corner from our garage on Ludingtonville Road to close up an open excavation they were required by the DEC to remove amp fill because of a previous oil spill The excess soil from our yard project this autumn can now be trucked by NYS amp Town of Kent Highway vehicles which will be loaded by the borrowed Putnam County Highway Department Excavator to this site Government working together Attached correspondence includes information on a pre engineered salt shed structure I have met with Mr Jacques Kessous of Dome Corporation of North America at our site for a field inspection he concurs with me that this is an easy fit for our terrain Mr Kessous Company is the only firm in North America that builds these types of structures He is available to make a presentation to our Town Board at our request I encourage that we do so as soon as possible His dome buildings are very visible throughout the United States Interstate Highway system They are round with a poured concrete base with a salt resistant preserved domed roof with a projected lifespan of the base of 50 years The structures are far superior to the gambrel wood frame buildings seen throughout many municipalities in our area in which the wood rots out a

33. partment permission to erect a temporary sand amp salt storage facility for a maximum of two years This was done However a permanent structure was never built Subsequently in 2006 2008 and this past February of 2014 the fabric cover once again collapsed under the weight of snow and ice it was never designed for a long term solution which is obvious The Town did replace the cover twice but I cannot in good conscience repeat the same mistake yet again This cover is a fabric material stretched over a minimal load bearing metal tube inadequate truss system arichored on top of stacked concrete mafia block jersey barriers These blocks shift constantly from the freeze thaw cycle and are also pushed outward from the interior pressure of the bulk products stored inside This constant movement undermines the load bearing capacity of the truss roof covering above thus the approval from the DEC for this as a temporary solution Since January of 2014 we were able to remove approximately 20 junk amp other unidentifiable abandoned vehicles from our facility yard Additionally we have removed approximately another dozen 30 yard dumpsters full of scrap metal and a tractor trailer full of old tires from our yard which has opened up and revealed a plethora of space for us to utilize and make this department into a very effective organization The facility was surveyed this spring and the men placed permanent steel benchmarks into the ground so we always
