MPH or Kilometres per Hour The display is accurate to about 10 when the wheel size is correctly calibrated and the tyre inflated as per the manufacturers recommendations To change from MPH to KMH or vice versa press the SET and DOWN buttons together and hold for 10 seconds Until the MPH or KMH indicator flashes The Wheel Size indicator will then start to flash and the units can be changed from MPH to KMH by pressing the UP or DOWN buttons Or When the desired units are showing press the SET button to confirm The display will stop flashing and the new KM H units are now selected Wheel Size Setting It is important to set the correct wheel size to calibrate the display so that reasonably accurate speed and distance can be shown The GRANITE and DIAMOND models are supplied with 26 wheels and are set to 26 2 2133 when they leave the factory The QUARTZ model is supplied with a 20 wheel and has been set to 20 2 1590 prior to leaving the factory If you replace the original tyre with a different size then refer to the table at the end of this manual for the correct calibration settings Page 30 Alternatively you can determine the circumference of the tyre by measuring the distance travelled in one revolution of the tyre on the ground and set the display to the nearest value available measured in mm To change the wheel size setting press and hold the SET butto

Weather and terrain will affect the performance In hilly areas or when the bike is heavily loaded there will be a significant increase in power used from the battery and hence the range will decrease accordingly A lightly loaded bike will achieve higher performance levels These results were obtained by test riders in optimal conditions 75kg rider level ground no wind Due to the smaller wheel size the QUARTZ model may exhibit speeds slightly lower than those stated in the table for the GRANITE and DIAMOND models The maximum speed and the range should still be similar to that stated in the table above No Assistance Normal Pedal Bicycle r Ifthe Assistance level is set to 0 ZERO then the motor will not be turned on Your BATRIBIKE will now act and feel like a normal bicy x cle This is useful when you are feeling fit at the start of a journey or using your bike for exercise purposes Power is still only a button Assist ss away Using the Twist Grip Throttle Country Specific To activate the throttle select AUTO mode The AUTO indicator will AUTO be displayed In this mode the right hand handlebar grip throttle control is now live In all other assistance levels the throttle is not functional You can still pedal the bike but power will not be applied until the throttle is twisted towards the rider Use the throttle control gently A small twist will apply a small amount of power Twisting more will increase
6. icon is selected the lower right of the display will show the distance travelled since the last reset This will show in Miles or Km de pending on the units selected 16 __ A T m T 17 x fo TIME When the TRIP TIME icon is selected the lower right of the display will show the time spent cycling since the last reset This will show in hours and minutes Un MAXIMUM SPEED When the MAXIMUM SPEED icon is se lected the lower right of the display will show the maximum speed reached since the last reset This will display in Miles or Km depending on the units selected Rolling Display Mode The display can be set to roll through the above values automatically Press the SET button then use the UP or DOWN buttons to select the ROLLING DISPLAY icon Then press the SET button again to confirm the selection The display will change every few seconds to show each of the values in turn TOTAL DISTANCE TRIP TIME TRIP DISTANCE MAXIMUM SPEED then re turn to TOTAL DISTANCE to start the sequence again Resetting the TRIP The TRIP functions of TIME DISTANCE and MAXIMUM SPEED can be reset to zero by pressing and holding the DOWN button for 5 seconds The values will be reset to zero The TOTAL DISTANCE will not be reset STANDARD BICYCLE FUNCTIONS Gears The DIAMOND GRANITE amp QUARTZ are provided with 7 speed Shimano gears To change gear you use the right handlebar

8. the power until the control is fully rotated when full motor power will be applied Throttle assistance can also be used without pedalling A handy way of using the throttle is to pull away from junctions or when starting on inclines as the rider will pull away easier and is less likely to wobble It can also be useful when in normal bicycle mode to pull out and overtake slower cy clists smoothly and quickly When in AUTO mode pressing the DOWN button will take you back to maximum pedal assistance level 6 Alternatively the UP button if pressed when AUTO is selected will take you to assis E tance level No assistance PLEASE NOTE The throttle control is not fitted for some countries due to legal restrictions Please refer to your dealer for help and advice 14 If you want help in setting off on inclines or to get a smooth getaway at junctions and traffic lights there is a system avail able whereby the motor can be applied even when no assis tance is selected This is known as Launch Assist and is acti vated by holding down the UP button for 2 seconds The motor will be switched on in low speed and will continue on until the UP but ton is released The bicycle will be powered at approximately 4 MPH 6 KMH This system is designed for intermittent use and should not be used for more than a few seconds at a time If you want continuous power then the Assist modes should be selected BS EN15194 C

12. ed for height and angle to suit the rider Hex keys not supplied will be required to carry out these adjustments Luggage Rack The luggage rack provided is designed to carry a maximum load of 25kg Make sure that any items carried are securely strapped and nothing is able to get caught in the rear wheel All other operation of your BATRIBIKE Electric Bicycle is as per a normal pedal cycle MAINTAINANCE SCHEDULE Maintaining your bicycle ensures you ll get the most out of every ride and out of the entire life of your BATRIBIKE electric bike How much of your bike s maintenance you can do yourself will depend on your knowledge skill experience and whether you have the necessary tools for the job Beyond this manual it is good to consult your BATRIBIKE dealer for advice if you are at all unsure about any of the procedures described Normal maintenance is not covered under the warranty and this service may be chargeable Before every ride Mechanical safety checks use a fully charged battery visual inspection for damages After every ride or WEEKLY Clean the bike including chain rings and sprocket Clean and lightly oil the chain and gears This must be carried out after every ride in dusty marine or winter conditions due to the salt laden atmosphere Every 20 30 hours of riding or MONTHLY Squeeze the brakes and rock the bike to check for any looseness of the headset or brake mechanisms with eac
13. h forward of backward movement If any are loose have your dealer check it e Lift the front wheel and turn handlebars left and right to check for tightness of steering If tightness is detected it may be necessary to lubricate bearings and or adjust the headset Check and adjust the brakes replace if worn out Squeeze spokes in adjoining pairs between your thumb and index finger They all should have the same tension Have your dealer re spoke or true the wheel if necessary Check cables for rust kinks and fraying have your dealer replace them if necessary Check bottom bracket for play and adjust if necessary Check wheel bearings for play and adjust lubricate if necessary 22 After 3 000 miles 5 000 km or YEARLY Hub motor and general inspection We recommend you arrange to have a thorough inspection of your bicycle by a BATRIBIKE dealer This includes opening up the hub motor to inspect and lubricate the gears Tyre Pressures The tyres should be pumped up to within the range stated on the sidewall This should be regularly checked as running with the correct pressures will ensure maximum range from the battery Repairing a punctured tyre If you have a punctured tyre we recommend that you get a specialist to carry out the repairs You can always of course consult a specialist and carry out the repairs on your own if you are confident that you have the necessary skills As there are no electronic co
14. ilarly switch off at the mains before unplugging the charger from the battery 7 Plug the charger into the mains socket and switch on at the wall outlet The lights on the charger will illuminate after a few seconds The RED light indicates that mains power is applied The other light will Show ORANGE whilst charging is taking place This may take up to six hours for a flat battery Q Qo When the battery is charged the ORANGE light will change to GREEN Once charged switch off at the wall outlet and unplug Unplug the charging lead from the battery and slide the cover back over the charging socket NOTE f the battery is charged and the charger left switched on for an extended period the charger will enter a low power state indicated by both the RED and ORANGE GREEN LEDs flashing slowly Switch off and unplug as above Alternative Charger Type An alternative type of charger may be supplied with one light instead of the two described above In this case the light is RED when Charging and GREEN when the charge cycle is complete CHARGING IN Um 5055655 Len CHARGE p COMPLETE The battery does not have to be completely discharged before it is recharged The Lithium battery has no and therefore can be charged at any time It is perfectly acceptable to recharge the battery after a short ride so that the battery is fully charged before the next ride If your BATRIBIKE
15. is not in use for an extended period it Is imperative that you charge the battery before storage and then charge the battery once a month to prevent deterioration When not in use store the battery in a warm dry place FAILURE TO FOLLOW If Lithium batteries are left flat for THIS PROCEDURE WiLL an extended period then they may INVALIDATE YOUR no longer be functional and a new BATTERY WARRANTY replacement will be required With correct User Care as outlined above your battery should have a lifetime of around 1000 charges Your BATRIBIKE Electric Bicycle can be used as a normal pedal cycle by simply not switching on the battery or using in Assist Level 0 see below Display Information Areas BATTERY STATUS SPEED Buttons _ POWER SET ASSISTANCE CYCLE LEVEL COMPUTER Display Information Areas a n N FN qp ELECTRIC BICYCLE FUNCTIONS Switching On To use under electric power plug in the battery with the blue plug located on the end of the battery beneath the rear of the seat Then press the POWER button on the handlebar LCD display Initial Display The display will initially show all of its indicators as part of the self test routine followed briefly by the wheel size current settings See separate section for calibration information Once the power is on the display will show the current settings and Total Trip Distance The Assistance Level will be that selec
16. mounted selector Gear number 1 is low for hills and rough terrain and gear 7 is high for normal road use To increase the gear simply press the button with your right thumb To decrease the gear push the black lever away from you with your thumb You must be pedalling forwards as you change gears Lights Lights are provided on your BATRIBIKE bicycle These are power efficient LED units which achieve a long life on each set of batteries SAFETY FEATURE The power for the front and rear lights is kept separate from the main power supply so that in the event that the battery is exhausted you will still have lights for safety The front light is powered by 3 AAA size batteries and is switched on by the black push button switch at the rear of the unit To replace the batteries simply twist the lens anti clockwise and pull free There is a small warning light on top of the front lamp unit This lights to show that the batteries are getting low and should be replaced _ Aa AAA Aa The rear light requires 2 AA batteries You will require a small Philips screwdriver to take off the red lens for battery replacement It is switched on and off by the small red push button switch on the underside of the unit Braking To stop release the throttle and pull the brake levers Centre Stand where fitted To put the bicycle on its stand 1 While holding the bicycle upright place your foot behind the stand 2 Pull
17. mponents on the front wheel its removal follows standard procedures as with normal bicycles Removing the Rear Wheel If you need to remove the rear wheel for example to replace the rear tyre then the motor can be unplugged to aid disassembly The plug is located on the lower rear arm of the frame as shown Left Remember to ensure that the cable is suitably secured to the bicycle frame upon re assembly Be mindful of the tightening assembly sequence of washers nuts and spacers Battery Fuse If the battery will not operate or charge correctly firstly check the battery fuse rated 30A located on the side of the battery beneath the screw cover Use a large flat bladed screwdriver or a small coin to remove the cover WARRANTY CONDITIONS The following warranty conditions are in addition to your legal rights Requirements for Warranty As the makers we guarantee against possible material or construction defects Provided the following conditions are satisfied Please retain your receipt as this is your proof of purchase and entitle ment to Warranty The guarantee starts on the date of purchase Warranty is non transferable and applies only to the original owner The Frame of your new BATRIBIKE Granite Diamond amp Quartz is guaranteed for 3 years from date of purchase e The Motor and Electronics are guaranteed for 2 years from date of pur chase Other main cycle parts have a warranty of 1 ye

19. ompliance The BATRIBIKE LCD range is tested and certified to BS EN15194 For the British market the addition of a twist grip throttle has rendered this not compliant in some countries You are recommended to seek advice from the relevant authorities in the country you are visiting before travelling Other Functions The SPANNER icon indicates a Service Code E n If this is shown then switch off the power and disconnect the bat tery for 2 minutes Plug back in and switch on If the SPANNER icon is still shown make a note of the CODE displayed and contact your dealer for assistance CYCLE COMPUTER The LCD models have several useful Cycle Computer functions built in There is a built in sensor and pickup located in the rear hub which activates the speed and distance readings TOTAL DISTANCE The default display mode will show the TOTAL DISTANCE travelled by the bike This cannot be reset to zero by the user Depending on the units selected the display will read in Miles or Kilometres Changing Modes select the required Cycle Computer Function press SET the SET button and use the UP and DOWN buttons to select the various modes available The icons will flash 98 0 m IPress the SET button again once the desired mode icon is displayed If no but ton is pressed for 10 seconds the display will revert to showing the last selected function KM TRIP DISTANCE When the TRIP DISTANCE

22. the bicycle backwards until the stand is in place Make sure bicycle is on solid ground Side Stand where fitted To put the bicycle on its stand 1 While holding the bicycle upright push the stand to its full extent 2 Lean the bicycle over onto the stand Make sure bicycle is on solid ground Do not sit on the bicycle whilst the stand is down It is designed to take the weight of the bicycle and not the additional weight of the rider Quick Release fittings for Seat Height Adjustment With the locking lever in the loose position tighten the nut until finger tight The final tightening is done by moving the lever to the locked position To undo move the lever to the loose position to enable height adjustment Loose Fold pedals by squeezing in as per photo and turning through 90 degrees Turn the pedals to a suitable position so they are not trapped when folding the frame Release centre frame lock as follows Flip catch Turn to side Lift up lever to release pin from frame Fold frame front to back o Unscrew handlebar folding lock fully and fold down handlebars HANDLEBAR FOLDING Loosen the clamp and fold in the direction shown Take care not to trap the wires and cables Handlebar Clamp CLOCKWISE TIGTHEN ANTI CLOCKWISE LOOSEN Reverse procedure to return bicycle to riding position Adjusting the Handlebars Granite amp Diamond The handlebars can be adjust
