4. 12 14 EZ Life Systems KateZ Lift User Manual Tilt switch operation Your KateZ Lift is equipped with an internal tilt switch located inside the housing that prevents the chair from tilting more than 5 If you are lifting the wheelchair when the tilt switch engages you will hear a beep and the wheelchair will stop rising If this happens e Push the blue button down until the KateZ Lift retracts under the wheelchair Then move to stable ground and raise the wheelchair again Quick release operation Note Have an assistant help with releasing and re engaging the KateZ Lift to your wheelchair To release your KateZ Lift 1 Remove the wheelchair user 2 Detach the hand control from the arm rest before releasing KateZ Lift 3 Engage breaks 4 Rotate the handle next the control box counter clockwise 5 Roll the wheelchair forward and out of the way of the KateZ Lift To re engage your KateZ Lift 1 Remove the wheelchair user 2 Roll wheelchair back over the KateZ Lift until it stops over the column lift 3 Rotate the handle next the control box clockwise 4 Reattach the hand control to the arm rest before releasing KateZ Lift 5 Disengage breaks 6 Raise the wheelchair to engage KateZ Lift Last Updated 6 4 2012 15 EZ Life Systems KateZ Lift User Manual Care and Maintenance General cleaning guidelines e The KateZ Lift can be hand washed with soap and water However automatic drive through car washes should b

6. anual Lift Stability KateZ Lift must be used on stable ground Although sensors will prevent the lift from raising on unstable ground never use the lift on a slope greater than 5 or uneven surfaces on slick or wet surfaces or surfaces prone to shifting such as gravel or sand Using KateZ Lift on unstable ground may adversely affect the stability of the wheelchair resulting in serious bodily injury to the user and passenger and damage to the wheelchair and surrounding property Reaching and Leaning Safety See the Safety Handling section for more detailed information Negatively affecting the center of gravity on a wheelchair can easily be done with extended motions such as reaching or leaning These actions make the wheelchair more prone to tipping over The consequences of these extended motions are further increased when in a lifted position Once you affect the center of gravity the wheelchair is instantly more prone to tipping over Instead of reaching or leaning you should do the following 1 Move the wheelbase as close as possible to where you need to be 2 Use a tool like an extension grabber to pick up things beyond your reach Last Updated 6 4 2012 5 EZ Life Systems KateZ Lift User Manual Safety Handling Be sure to reference your wheelchair safety manual for any safety concerns A WARNING ALWAYS wear your seat positioning strap Inasmuch as the seat positioning strap is optional on wheelchairs using it is stron

14. re to reference any wheelchair manuals for any wheelchair operational concerns General Operation guidelines Unless otherwise noted all service and adjustment should be performed while the wheelchair is unoccupied Practice bending reaching and transferring activities in several combinations while keeping your center of gravity in the presence of a qualified healthcare professional before attempting active use of the wheelchair in lift position When reaching leaning or bending forward it is important to sit back in the chair to keep your center of gravity in the center of the wheelchair to maintain stability and balance If the KateZ Lift battery is exposed to extreme temperature above 100 F or below 4 F high humidity and or becomes wet prior to use it must be allowed time to adjust to the difference in environmental conditions before being used Otherwise damage or injury may occur Avoid storing or using the KateZ Lift near open flame or combustible products Serious injury or damage to property may result DO NOT DO NOT attempt to reach objects if you have to move forward in the seat or reach down between your knees as this may cause the KateZ Lift and wheelchair to tip over DO NOT lean over the top of the back upholstery to reach objects behind you as this may cause the KateZ Lift and wheelchair to tip over DO NOT lean over the side of the armrests to reach objects next to you as this may cause the KateZ Lift and w

16. tery Last Updated 6 4 2012 17 EZ Life Systems KateZ Lift User Manual Limited Warranty EZ Life Systems Seller warrants that the KateZ Lift Goods will be free from defects in material and workmanship for 24 months beyond the date of sale shipment Warranty Seller warrants its Goods only to the original buyer Buyer Additionally in the event that Goods are manufactured based upon Buyer s designs or specifications or are not installed in accordance with Seller s instructions or guidelines Buyer accepts the Goods As is with all faults The Warranty in this Section is in lieu of and excludes all other warranties All other such warranties are hereby expressly disclaimed by Seller and waived by Buyer Seller does not warrant that the goods will be suitable for Buyer s specific needs will work in any particular environment will perform without interruption or be error free or will work in conjunction with Buyer s equipment If Buyer makes a warranty claim written notice of claimed defect must be given to Seller within thirty 30 days from the date any such defect is first discovered or in the exercise of reasonable care should have been discovered In no event whatsoever may a claim be made later than thirty 30 days following the end of the 24 month warranty period Buyer shall be deemed to have waived any claim not made within thirty 30 days from when the defect is first discovered or
