1. fee is geared toward photographers at any skill level but is primarily geared towards digital photography with an emphasis on Lightroom Photomatix Pro and Photo shop post processing We will convene on two days the first to discuss how to take Higher Dynamic Range images and the second to review and process them On the first day Saturday April 17t Howard will begin with a discussion of the equipment that you may find helpful when taking photographs with very high contrast in all light ing conditions along with techniques and tips that can improve your results Then we will spend a few hours in the field taking sample images in and around Morro Bay including a sunset shoot at Morro Strand Beach weather permitting If it is foggy an alternate location will be announced On the second day Thursday April 22 Howard will discuss workflow using similar images taken during the photo shoot including how to load the images and post process them using Lightroom Photomatix Pro and Photoshop He will then share advanced techniques such as dealing with noise and moving objects in your composition A video of the evening s lecture will be distributed at the end of the workshop Howard will also set up a group on Flickr for those who would like their images reviewed after the photo shoot More informa tion and a flyer will be distributed at the April general meeting Contact Cheryl Strahl the workshop coordinator at 466 7611

3. 24 2009 while re sponding to a broken leg call at Oceano Dunes svra He was the first member in the history of the sLo Search and Rescue team to be killed in the line of duty Found in his car after his death were two applications to paramedic school ready to be mailed He had chosen to go with what he loved Chris was planning on attending para medic school last fall but never got the chance The Meadows family has set up a memorial fund to provide paramedic school scholarships and awarded the first 2 500 scholarship a few weeks ago The recipient Scott Schieber attends the Central Coast paramedic program at Cuesta College On Saturday May rs the family is putting on a major wine tasting and silent auction fundraiser at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Luis Obispo from April 2010 3 00 6 00 PM As Chris was a budding amateur photographer they will be showing and selling some of his images but are also interested in obtaining dona tions from other local photographers that they can auction off Chris posthumously won 2 d place amateur at last year s Mid State Fair for a black and white they entered on his behalf The details of the event are as follows Saturday May 15 from 3 00 6 00 PM at the Embassy Suites Hotel Atrium 333 Madonna Road in San Luis Obispo Admission is 25 and may be paid in advance by check to the Christopher Meadows Memorial Fund Attention Megan Grose 132 El Viento Avenue Pismo Bea

SA Lis Oho Camera Club Volume 40 Number 4 April 8 2010 Main Program Ae es alle By Walter K Robie he Reverend Walt Robie of Cambria is our guest presenter at the April 2010 meeting Walt is a retired clergyman who has spent his retirement years photographing wild and beautiful places His latest program is called AG ture s Ballet and he says the following Nature s Ballet shows pictures of the eastern side of the High Sierra which has been called one of the great continuous mountain ranges in the world by the late Galen Rowell The program features the picturesque rocks and stone formation of the Alabama Hills storm clouds boiling off Mt Whitney fall colors on the June Lake loop the play of light on Mono Lake and surrounding grasslands and the iconic but always new Yosemite Valley The program begins with still life photographs of flowers taken by Walt in his home The back ground music is cello and piano J Each year at this time Walt writes a letter to all the churches of the Presbytery announcing his new multimedia program for the coming year After serving as Pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church of Cambria he and his wife chose to spend their retirement years in this seaside village along the Central Coast It was a good decision particularly where his avocation has been landscape photography During these retirement years Walt has created multi image programs and made them avail

12. ws While he had shown interest in rid ing along with the fire department and listening to a scanner in high school Christopher Meadows began his pursuit of an emergency medical career in earnest while he was studying in the business school at Cal Poly During his senior year in parallel with his Cal Poly Studies he enrolled in the EMT program at Cuesta College After successfully completing the EMT I certification he hired on with San Luis Ambulance as a reserve EMT in December 2006 From then until graduation from Cal Poly in June 2007 Chris worked as many shifts as possible immersing himself in the job with the desire to learn as fast as possible and absorb as much as possible He loved being an EMT so much that he put his potential business career on hold so he could work full time in emergency service for a year The more he worked as an EMT the more he realized that emergency care was right for him and he was good at it One year turned into two and Chris agonized over which path to pursue a business career that would be financially SLO Camera Club Courier rewarding and leverage his college train ing or one in emergency services which he did well and loved but would never make him rich Chris also joined the Search and Res cue team and learned all he could about that effort He was in the process of being appointed the medical lead when as a search and rescue volunteer he was tragically killed May
