14. d up our own interface from scratch but Unified Microsystems has a nice PC sound card interface kit It has the case circuit board and parts to build the interfa ce It is a first class kit with transformer isolation and optical PTT interface This kit has a great low price of 24 95 Go to their website to download the user manual diagram and cable pin outs Their website is http www unifiedmicro com Delta Amateur Radio Club January 2014 Sparks Page 5 AMATEUR HARDWARE UPDATE By James Butler KB4LJV Many new Ham radio projects use microprocessors The PICA XE microprocessor is one of the new ones in use To build a programmer for the PICAXE just takes a couple of resistors a DB9 serial cable and a 5 volt p ower supply When it is hooked to you computer with some free software you can program your PICAXE Many Amateurs build up their own programmer boards I found some ZIF zero insertion force sockets on Ebay for under 2 00 that worked perfectly to make a programmer I built up the programmer for the 18 pin PICAXE chips It works great The ZIF socket lets me plug in the microprocessor to program and remove without bending or damaging the pins The case I used was a 4 AA battery case to mount everything in The PICAXE site has diagrams and instructions for programming all the different PICAXE chips The site is http www picaxe com 2014 TRAINING CLASSES Submitted by Joe Lowenthal WA4OVO Director of Training Ther
