4. elow This appliance is not intended for use by people including children with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Use only cold water when filling The water level must be between the MAX and MIN marks Switch the kettle off before removing it from the base Always ensure that the lid is tightly closed The base and exterior of the kettle must not become wet USING YOUR KETTLE FOR THE FIRST TIME Please read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place Before using for the first time boil fresh water at least twice and discard Do not add anything to the water USING YOUR KETTLE 1 Place the machine on a flat surface 2 Open the lid by pressing the button on the handle then fill with water The water level is shown by the water level indicator on the side of the kettle Please do not overfill the kettle 3 Close the lid by pressing down with your hand until it clicks shut 4 Place the kettle flush on the base ELECTRICAL CONNECTION 1 Check that the mains voltage supply you intend to use is the same as that of the kettle For information on the voltage supply of the kettle please see the identification plate on the base
5. o avoid an electric shock do not insert the discarded plug into a socket Fitting a new plug If for any reason you need to fit a new plug the flexible mains lead must be connected as shown here The wires in the mains lead fitted to this appliance are coloured in accordance with the following code Earth green yellow Neutral blue Live brown Connect BLUE to Neutral N Connect GREEN amp YELLOW to Earth E Connect BROWN to Live L 13 amp fuse to be used If the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance do not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows The wire which is coloured green and yellow MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter E Earth or coloured green The wire which is coloured blue MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N Neutral or coloured black The wire which is coloured brown MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L Live or coloured red Before refitting the plug cover check that there are no cut or stray strands of wire inside the plug Use a 13 amp BS1362 fuse Only BSI or ASTA approved fuses should be used If you are at all unsure which plug or fuse to use always refer to a qualified electrician Note after replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded plug which has a fuse cover the cover must be refitted to the plug the applian
