1. and footrest may now be folded up and if necessary the lift swivelled back against rail to reduce it obstructing other stair users Bison 50 l S Straight Stairlift EA User Manual BISON Issue 3 March 2005 5 Additional Options 5 1 Powered Swivel Seat To sit onto a powered seat at the top of the stairs move the Stairlift to face you by operating the remote control 8 button Sit in the seat and fasten the seatbelt then press the Direction Controller to move the Stairlift down The seat will swivel to its operating position and move down the stairs To get off a powered seat when the Stairlift is at the top of the stairs continue to hold down the Direction Controller 1 After the Stairlift stops moving the seat will swivel round automatically Switch the Stairlift off using the On Off Holding Switch 2 on the arm rest It is now safe to undo the seat belt and alight from the Stairlift The Stairlift can be called to the bottom of the stairs by using the remote control button 5 2 Remote Direction Controls The Stairlift must be in its correct operating condition with the seat facing forward and switched on with the On Off Holding Switch before remote controls can be used These controls can be used to call the Stairlift and operate hinged rails or platforms when fitted Press the or Y buttons continuously until the Stairlift stops at the end of its travel Do not leave the Stairlift parked part way up the stairs

4. e mains electricity supply has been switched off or interrupted allow them to recharge for a minimum of 2 hours before 7 using the lift If the batteries are not being recharged you will see this flashing symbol on the fault indicator and hear a bleep alarm The Symbol will stop flashing when the lift is on a powered charge point Bison 50 t S Straight Stairlift EA User Manual BISON Issue 3 March 2005 3 2 Safe Operation WARNING Do not allow children to play with the Stairlift or the remote controls Ensure pets are clear of the Stairlift at all times Do not exceed the safe weight limit the Stairlift is designed to carry see the label on the carriage Always use the seatbelt Before operating your Stairlift ensure that there are no obstructions on the staircase The Stairlift is fitted with seven safety edges 1 amp 2 each side of the carriage 3 amp 4 each side of the footrest 5 under the footrest 6 amp 7 each side of the carriage above the rail If these encounter any obstruction the Stairlift will stop immediately Move the Stairlift back in the opposite direction and remove the obstruction Bison 50 j So Straight Stairlift Gy ITL User Manual BISON Issue 3 March 2005 4 Using Your Stairlift Before attempting to get on or off the lift ensure that it is switched off at the holding switch If calling via the remote control please see section 5 2 1 Lower the footres

6. t 2 Lower the seat and arms IF LIFT IS AT TOP OF STAIRS 3 If necessary swivel the seat to face you Sit in the seat and fasten the seatbelt 4 Hold down one of the swivel paddles and swivel the seat until it locks into its operating position as shown IF LIFT IS AT BOTTOM OF STAIRS 4 Sit in the seat and fasten the seatbelt OPERATING THE LIFT 5 Switch the Stairlift on with the On Off Holding Switch on the arm rest its green lamp will illuminate indicating the power is on 6 Press the Direction Controller in the direction of travel 7 After a short delay the Stairlift will beep and begin to move slowly at first until it reaches full speed Keep the Direction Controller item 6 pressed down continually throughout the journey 8 The Stairlift will automatically slow down and stop when it has reached the end of its travel It is important to let the lift stop itself at the end of it s travel for safety and to ensure that it recharges 9 Switch the Stairlift off using the On Off Holding Switch on the arm rest item 5 IF LIFT IS AT BOTTOM OF STAIRS 10 It is now safe to undo the seat belt item 4 and alight from the Stairlift The arms seat and footrest may now be folded up IF LIFT IS AT TOP OF STAIRS 10 To swivel the seat push down a seat paddle item 3 and rotate the seat until it locks into position partly or fully around It is now safe to undo the seat belt item 4 and alight from the Stairlift The arms seat
7. t is switched on and off using the On Off Holding Switch 2 The Stairlift is moved up and down the stairs by the user operating the Direction Controller on the armrest 1 For your safety there is a slight delay between the Stairlift changing direction or restarting in the same direction When not in use please ensure that the seat belt is kept clear of the rail 3 1 Charging Your Stairlift The Stairlift batteries are recharged from charging points when the Stairlift is in its parked position at the top and bottom of the stairs The charging points are connected to a 30 volt power supply fed from the mains electricity After installation and demonstration are complete it is important the lift batteries are fully charged to achieve optimum performance of the lift The lift should be moved to either rail charge point and left on charge for a minimum of 8 hours This is a one off operation following this initial charging period the batteries will be conditioned and the lift ready for normal operation If there is a mains electricity supply failure or if the supply to your Stairlift is switched off it will continue to operate for several journeys However the batteries will eventually lose their charge and the Stairlift will not operate To keep batteries fully charged the mains electricity supply should always be switched on and the lift parked on its charge points If the batteries have lost their charge because th
