4. to the top of the walking belt or the shipping carton This is a normal condition and does not affect treadmill performance If there is lubricant on top of the walking belt simply wipe off the lubricant with a soft cloth and a mild non abrasive cleaner Assembly requires the included small allen wrench and your own phillips screwdriver E J ee mallet o wire cutters SSeS adjustable wrench QI and needlenose To identify small parts during assembly use the PART IDENTIFICATION CHART in the center of this manual 1 Make sure that the power cord is unplugged WARNING Hazardous Voltage Risk of Electric Shock Unplug Treadmill before Assembly IDisassembly With the help of a second person carefully tip the treadmill onto one side Partially fold the Frame 75 so that the treadmill is more stable Do not fully fold the treadmill until it is completely assembled Attach four Base Pads 40 to the Base 11 with four 3 4 Tek Screws 102 2 With the help of a second person tip the treadmill down to the position shown Attach a Wheel 37 to each side of the Base 11 with a Wheel Bolt 36 and a Wheel Nut 38 as shown Identify the Right Upright 62 and the Left Upright 76 there are two small holes in the side of the Left Upright While a second person holds the Right Upright near the Wire Harness 21 insert the end of the Wire Harness into the lower end of the Right Upright and out

RECAUTIONS A WARNI NG To reduce the risk of burns fire electric shock or injury to persons read the following important precautions and information before operating the treadmill 1 It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure 9 Wear appropriate exercise clothes when that all users of this treadmill are adequately using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes informed of all warnings and precautions that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recommended for 2 Use the treadmill only as described both men and women Always wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet 3 Place the treadmill on a level surface with at wearing only stockings or in sandals least eight feet of clearance behind it and two feet on each side Do not place the treadmill 10 When connecting the power cord see page 8 on any surface that blocks air openings To plug the power cord into a surge suppressor protect the floor or carpet from damage place not included and plug the surge suppressor a mat under the treadmill into a grounded circuit capable of carrying 15 or more amps No other appliance should be on 4 Keep the treadmill indoors away from mois the same circuit Do not use an extension cord ture and dust Do not put the treadmill in a garage or covered patio or near water 11 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on 5 Do not operate the treadmill w

THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds 20 kg in order to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the treadmill with your hands in the locations shown at the right To decrease the possibility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight As you raise the tread mill make sure to lift with your legs rather than your back Raise the treadmill about halfway to the vertical posi tion 2 Move your right hand to the position shown and hold the treadmill firmly Press out on the storage latch Raise the treadmill until the storage latch closes over the catch Make sure that the storage latch is fully engaged over the catch To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in temperatures above 85 Fahrenheit HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill convert the treadmill to the storage position as described above Make sure that the storage latch is fully engaged over the catch 1 Hold the upper ends of the handrails Place one foot on the base as shown 2 Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the front wheels ae Carefully move the treadmill to the desired location To re e duce the risk of injury use extreme caution while mov Ze ing the treadmill Do not move the treadmill ove
9. age surge sup pressor TVSS The surge suppressor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules The surge suppressor must be electrically rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps There must be a monitoring light on the surge suppressor to indi cate whether it is functioning properly Failure to use a properly functioning surge suppressor could result in damage to the control system of the treadmill If the control system is damaged the walking belt may change speed or stop unexpect edly which may result in a fall and serious injury This product must be grounded If it should malfunc tion or break down grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of elec tric shock This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment grounding conductor and a grounding plug Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances Important The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets This product is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illus trated in drawing 1 below A temporary adapter that looks like the adapter illustrated in drawing 2 may be used to connect the surge suppressor to a 2 pole receptacle as shown in drawing 2 if a properly
10. e 14 To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PERFORMANT LUBE WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE a high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking plat form Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or service man if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded Do not modify the plug provided with the product if it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician Your treadmill like any other type of sophisticated electronic equipment can be seriously damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interference can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off To decrease the possibility of your treadmill being damaged always use a surge suppressor with your treadmill see drawing 1 at the right To purchase a surge suppressor see your local WESLO dealer or call toll free 1 800 806 3651 and order part number 146148 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient volt

12. er miles or kilometers To see which unit of measurement is selected hold down the Stop button insert the key into the console and continue to hold the Stop button for a moment An E for English miles or an M for metric kilometers FAT CALORIES 10 will appear in the Calories Fat Calories Pulse dis play Press the Speed A button to change the unit of measurement When the desired unit of mea surement is selected remove the key and then reinsert it To reset the displays press the Stop button re move the key and then reinsert the key Measure your heart rate if desired To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and place your thumb on the pulse meter as shown Do not press too hard or the circulation in your thumb will be restricted and your pulse will not be detected After a few seconds the PULSE indicator beside the Calories Fat Calories Pulse display will light and then your heart rate will be shown Hold your thumb on the pulse meter for about 15 seconds for the most accurate reading If the displayed heart rate appears to be too high or too low or if your heart rate is not displayed lift your thumb off the pulse meter for a few seconds Then place your thumb on the pulse meter as de scribed above Make sure that you are applying the proper amount of pressure Remember to stand still while measuring your heart rate When you are finished exercising remove

15. g belt when turn ing on the power Follow the steps below to operate the console Always wear the clip see the drawing Insert the key fully into the console above while operating the treadmill Adjust the speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps in speed To reduce the possibility of electric shock keep the console dry Avoid spilling liquids on the console and place only a sealed water bottle in the water bottle holder STEP BY STEP CONSOLE OPERATION Before operating the console make sure that the power cord is properly plugged in see page 8 Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attached to the key see the drawing above and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes Insert the key fully into the console After a moment the displays will light Test the clip by carefully tak A few seconds after the key is inserted the dis plays will light Press the Start button or the Speed button to start the walking belt A moment after the button is pressed the walking belt will begin to move Hold the handrails and begin walking As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed buttons Each time a button is pressed the speed setting will change by 0 1 mph if a button is held down the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 mph Note The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers see SPEED DISTANCE D

18. ic Aerobic exercise is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time This increases the demand on the heart to pump blood to the muscles and on the lungs to oxygenate the blood For aerobic exercise adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Each workout should include the following three parts A Warm up Start each workout with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A proper warm up in creases your body temperature heart rate and circula tion in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise After warming up increase the intensity of your exercise until your pulse is in your training zone for 20 to 60 minutes During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your pulse in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath A Cool down Finish each workout with 5 to 10 min utes of stretching to cool down This will increase the flexibility of your muscles and will help prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest be tween workouts After a few months you may com plete up to five workouts each week if desired The key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your

20. nce Knob 13 PROBLEM The walking belt slows when walked on SOLUTION a Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 8 b If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn both rear roller adjustment bolts counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each side of the walking belt 2 to 3 inches off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Plug in the power cord in sert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes p Rear Roller Adjustment Bolts Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened c If the walking belt still slows when walked on please call our toll free Customer Service Department PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the allen wrench to turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the bolt counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered
21. ning and aerobic exercise HEART RATE TRAINING ZONES AEROBIC 165 155 145 MAX FAT BURN 145 138 130 125 118 110 103 125 120 115 110 105 95 90 Age 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 140 130 125 115 FAT BURN To find the proper heart rate for you first find your age near the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the nearest ten years Next find the three numbers above your age The three numbers define your train ing zone The lower two numbers are recommended heart rates for fat burning the higher number is the recommended heart rate for aerobic exercise To measure your heart rate during exercise use the pulse sensor If your heart rate is too high or too low adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill Fat Burning To burn fat effectively you must exercise at a relatively low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses easily accessible carbohydrate calories for en ergy Only after the first few minutes does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the speed and incline of the tread mill until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill until your heart rate is near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular sys tem your exercise must be aerob
22. oO If the walking belt slips when walked on first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn both rear roller bolts clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tight ened you should be able to lift each side of the walk ing belt 2 to 3 inches off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened 14 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES AWARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physi cian This is especially important for individu als over the age of 35 or individuals with pre existing health problems The pulse sensor is not a medical device Various factors including your movement may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The sensor is intended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex ercise program For more detailed exercise informa tion obtain a reputable book or consult your physician EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity The proper intensity level can be found by using your heart rate as a guide The chart below shows recom mended heart rates for fat bur
23. of the upper end 3 Insert a Plastic Shim 103 into each side of the post on the right side of the Base 11 Next orient the Right Upright 62 as shown and insert it into the Base Make sure that the Wire Harness 21 does not fall into the Right Upright Be careful to avoid pinching the Wire Harness Note If necessary tap the Right Upright with a rubber mallet until it is fully seated in the Base If the Right Upright cannot be fully seated remove the outer Plastic Shim and then insert the Right Upright Attach the Right Upright 62 to the Base 11 with three 1 Bolts 8 and three Star Washers 9 Do not tighten the Bolts yet Assemble the Left Upright not shown in the same way Identify the Right Handrail 47 which has a large hole in the left side Feed the Wire Harness 21 into the hole in the bottom of the Right Handrail and out of the large hole in the left side Note It may be helpful to use needlenose pliers to pull the Wire Harness out of the large hole Press a Handrail Cap 41 onto the lower end of the Right Handrail as shown Insert the rectangular bracket on the Right Handrail 47 into the top of the Right Upright 62 so the Handrail Cap 41 is against the Right Upright Attach the Right Handrail and the Handrail Cap with three 1 Bolts 8 and two Washers 57 as shown Do not tighten the Bolts yet Attach the Left Handrail not shown as described above Note There is not a wire harne

25. r on the Console Insert the excess Wire Harness down through the opening in the Console Base Refer to the inset drawing in step 6 above Securely tighten the plastic tie on top of the Console Base to prevent the Wire Harness from slipping Then cut off the end of the plastic tie Set the Console 10 on the Console Base 46 Insert the excess Wire Harness 21 into the large hole in the side of the Right Handrail 47 Securely tighten the plastic ties on the bottom of the Console Base to prevent the Wire Harness from slipping Then cut off the ends of the plastic ties Attach the Console 10 to the Console Base 46 with two 1 2 Silver Screws 97 and four 3 4 Screws 13 Start all six Screws before tightening them do not over tighten the Screws 8 Attach the Storage Latch 14 to the left Upright 76 with two 3 4 Screws 13 Be careful not to overtighten the Screws Lift the treadmill frame see HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE on page 12 but do not latch it Make sure that the frame is centered between the Handrails 1 47 not shown Firmly tighten all of the bolts and screws used in assembly steps 3 4 5 and 6 Then lower the frame to the floor 9 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill Note Extra hardware may be included Keep the included allen wrenches in a secure place The large allen wrench is used to adjust the walking belt see pag
26. ss on the left side Hold the Crossbar 34 between the Handrails 1 47 Attach the Crossbar with two Crossbar Screws 53 Do not tighten the Crossbar Screws yet Attach the ring on the end of the ground wire to the small hole in the side of the Right Handrail 47 with a Silver Ground Screw 104 This hole must be on this side 6 Place the Console Base 46 on the Right Handrail 47 and the Left Handrail not shown Attach the Console Base with four 1 1 4 Screws 105 only two Screws are shown Do not tighten the Screws yet Insert the Wire Harness 21 through the two indicated plastic ties on the Console Base 46 Next insert the Wire Harness up through the indicated opening in the Console Base Make sure that the Console Cover 96 is securely attached to the Console Base Refer to the inset drawing Look at the top of the Console Base 46 Insert the Wire Harness 21 through the plas tic tie on top of the Console Base 7 Hold the Console 10 near the Console Base 46 Touch the Right Upright 62 to discharge any static Plug the widest connector on the Wire Harness 21 into the widest connector on the Console If the connector does not fit easily rotate it and then connect it Plug the other connector on the Wire Harness into the other con necto

28. the key Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and remove the key from the console Keep the key ina secure place A WARNING Removing the key does not cut off power to the incline sys tem To prevent movement of the treadmill and possible injury unplug the power cord when the treadmill is not in use THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has been operated and the total number of miles that the walking belt has moved The information mode also al lows you to switch the console from miles per hour to kilometers per hour To select the information mode hold down the Stop button insert the key into the console and continue to hold the Stop button for a moment When the informa tion mode is selected the following information will be shown An E for English miles or an M for metric kilometers will appear in the Calories Fat Calories Pulse display Press the Speed A button to change the unit of measurement PULSE FAT CALORIES 11 The Time display will show the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used The Distance Laps display will show the total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved SPEED DISTANCE To exit the information mode remove the key from the console HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD
