73. it is the driver s responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure even if under inflation has not reached the level to trigger illumination of the TPMS low tire pressure telltale e Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate when the system is not operating properly The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure telltale When the system detects a malfunction the telltale will flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated This sequence will continue each time the vehicle is restarted as long as the malfunction exists e When the malfunction indicator is illuminated the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly Always check the TPMS malfunction telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure that the replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to continue to function properly NOTE Tire pressures change by approximately 1 psi 7 kPa per 12 F 7 C of air temperature change Keep this in mind when checking tire pressure Inside a garage especially in the Winter Example If garage temperature is 68 F 20 C and the outside temperature is 32 F 0 C then the cold tire inflation pre

104. t Electronic Speed Control can be dangerous where the system cannot maintain a constant speed Your vehicle could go too fast for the conditions and you could lose control A collision could be the result Do not use Electronic Speed Control in heavy traffic or on roads that are winding icy snow covered or slippery 2 OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CVT e While conventional automatic transmissions typically have 4 5 or 6 speeds the Continuously Variable Transmission CVT has an infinite number of speeds This allows it to adjust to exactly the right ratio to optimize performance and fuel economy e Under hard acceleration you may hear more engine noise than with a conven tional transmission The CVT may also occasionally feel like it is shifting These characteristics are perfectly normal and contribute to the CVT s efficiency SIX SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION e This electronically controlled transmission provides a precise shift schedule The transmission electronics are self calibrating therefore the first few shifts on a new vehicle may be somewhat abrupt This is a normal condition and precision shifts will develop within a few hundred miles kilometers e The transmission shift lever has only PARK REVERSE NEUTRAL and DRIVE shift positions Manual shifts can be made using the Autostick shift control Moving the shift lever to the left or right while in the DRIVE p
