Appendix Troubleshooting Appendix Troubleshooting Make sure that all cables are well seated Check that the keyboard mouse cables are not swapped Label and bundle the cables for each computer to avoid confusion when connected to the KVM switch A 1 Problems Causes Solutions Symptom Mouse does not work Causes Too many mouse drivers are installed in the computer e In Auto Scan keyboard and mouse are not operable Solutions Make sure that there is only one mouse driver installed in each computer e Remove all unnecessary keyboards and mouse drivers e Press any front panel button to select a computer then use the keyboard and mouse Symptom Newly installed USB device does not work Causes e Improper device driver e Device consumes too much power e Device consumes too much power instantaneously e Improper device initialization e When the unit works under self power that is no power supply is added it supports a maximum of 100 mA as per USB specifications Solutions e Re install the device driver Page 24 724 746 5500 blackbox com Appendix Troubleshooting e The device should be self powered Add a power adapter to the device e f the device does not have a power jack add a power adapter with 9 12 VDC and less than 1 A current rating to the unit Make sure the USB cable is well seated for good communications e Remove all power sources to the unit by unplugging all USB A B cable
