12. en need to run the BIOS setup pro gram to set the configuration information in memory There are three situations in which you will need to change the CMOS settings 1 You are starting your system for the first time 2 You have changed the hardware attached to your system 3 The CMOS memory has lost power and the configuration informa tion has been erased The SOM 2365 Series CMOS memory has an integral lithium battery backup The battery backup should last ten years in normal service but when it finally runs down you will need to replace the complete unit Warning Always completely disconnect the power cord from your chassis whenever you are working on it Do not make connections while the power is on because sensitive electronic components can be damaged by the sudden rush of power Only experienced electronics personnel should open the PC chassis SOM 2365 User s Manual 18 3 2 Award BIOS setup Award s BIOS ROM has a built in Setup program that allows users to modify the basic system configuration This type of information is stored in battery backed CMOS RAM so that it retains the Setup information when the power is turned off 3 2 1 Entering setup Power on the computer and press lt Del gt immediately This will allow you to enter Setup CMOS Setup Utility Copyright C 1984 2000 Award Software Load Optimized Defaults Esc Quit F9 Menu in BIOS E Select Item F10 Save Exit Setup
