Legacy Windows NT 4 0 w Service Pack 6 A clean install of the operating system with no other software installed is preferred The operating system CD ROMs may be required during installation Available disk space 3 Gb on Drive C Monitor resolution 1024x768 256 colors minimum Lower resolutions will not display the entire Software RIP Network Network interface card configured in operating system with the network protocols and services to be used required network cabling PCI Expansion slot One available PCI expansion slot is required to install the VideoNet interface card Parallel port One available parallel port is required to install the RIP Key Other 3 1 2 inch diskette drive CD ROM drive keyboard mouse Operating system account with Administrator privileges to install the ColorMark Software RIP and related software and Guest access for all printer users Category 5 Ethernet cable If the computer is connected directly to the printer recommended use a standard Category 5 Ethernet crossover cable with RJ45 con nectors If you are connecting the printer to the computer with a hub in between use a standard Category 5 Ethernet straight through cable These cables can be pur chased at computer stores or from a computer networking specialist Grounding strap the computer VideoNet card and other electronic computer components are susceptible to damage from ele2. However if you choose not to install the software the quality of your output may not be satisfactory and only CMYK printing is enabled 1 Place ColorMark CMS CD ROM into the CD ROM drive of the ColorMark Software RIP computer 2 Answer Yes when asked if you would like to install ColorMark 3 Follow the on screen prompts to complete the installation Step 7a Install the Printer in Windows XP Windows 2000 see the next section for Windows NT During the following process you must be logged in to Windows with Administrator rights assigned at least temporarily to install the printer 1 Load the Printing Tools CD ROM into the CD ROM drive If the Printing Tools CD ROM is not available load the ColorMark Software RIP CD ROM instead 2 On the Windows Start menu click Settings Printers and Faxes Windows XP or Printers Windows 2000 The Printers window opens Double click the Add Printer icon to start the Windows Add Printer Wizard Select Next then click Local Printer but do not check Automatically Detect and Install My Plug And Play Printer Click Next Click the button next to Use the following port From the drop down box scroll to and select pipe winlinkOOOO Select a Printer Port Computers communicate with printers through ports Select the port you want your printer to use If the port is not listed you can create a new port Oy ee Use the following port IRE Note Most computers use the L

18. tion The VideoNet card and your computer are susceptible to damage from electrostatic discharge Do not remove the card from its protective packaging until instructed to Ate do so in this procedure Start with the computer powered off and unplugged from the power outlet and all peripherals 2 Install the VideoNet card into an available PCI expansion slot in the computer a b c d g h Place the computer on a sturdy table with ample clear space preferably not on a carpeted floor Remove the cover from the computer case Touch the frame of the computer chassis to get rid of any static charge build up from your body Select an available PCI expansion slot for the VideoNet card and remove the slot cover if installed by removing the screw Remove the VideoNet card from its protective packaging Press the VideoNet card carefully but firmly straight down into the PCI expansion slot as shown below Ensure that the card s electrical contacts are seated firmly all the way to the bottom of the slot Take care to avoid damag ing any other components in the computer Secure the VideoNet card with the screw you removed from the slot cover Replace the computer case cover 3 Install the RIP Key on the parallel port of the computer Verify that the parallel port is enabled in the computer s BIOS Do not daisy chain connect in serial the RIP Key with any other parallel port device G 900000000000 O 000000000
