Reading your script from the teleprompter really helps you focus on your speaking part lets you speak with greater confidence and keeps you from uttering the dreaded uh that seems to spring from our lips when we are not quite sure what words to use If you ve followed the steps we ve handily provided in Finding your optimal camera position on page 32 you have placed your video camera just over the Teleprompter window After a little bit of practice and rehearsal it will appear that you or the person in your show is looking in the direction of the camera while they are actually reading the words on the screen You don t have to use the Teleprompter to use Visual Communicator You can create presentations slide shows and other communications accompa nied only by music or sound effects 52 Entering Your Script If you can put some time into developing a good script A good script is one that has a clear message is interesting to your audience and is easy for you to read as it scrolls Read Writing Your Script on page 51 for more writing tips 1 Open Visual Communicator and load a show If you don t already have a show one of the demo shows will work just fine 2 Position your cursor at the point where you would like the script to begin This may be at the beginning of the show or in sequence with a particular event within an action tray in the action area Click the mouse in the Tele prom

14. gt Back Fwd Up Home E i My First_ Show wms Show Bown Serious Magic Visual Communicator User Guide Publishing Your Show To locate your output files in Studio click the Out put tab in the Media area Publishing to DV Tape PRO Visual Communicator Pro and Studio allow you to publish your finished shows to digital video tape using full broadcast resolution If you plan to present your show on a television this method of publishing produces the best image To take advantage of the Print to Tape feature you will need to have a Firewire IEEE 1394 card in your computer and a DV Camera When you publish a video using the Print to Tape feature the video you are publishing is compressed to a DV file and then recorded directly to the DV tape in your camcorder VC also saves a copy of the show to your hard drive in the My Published Shows folder For best results and to take advantage of the full 720 x 480 resolution recording use your DV cam corder or other DV source to record your video in Visual Communicator If the camcorder you want to tape the show to output is also your video input device switch it into VCR mode before publishing 1 Load the project you would like to publish to tape 2 Record the show if needed and then click the Publish button 3 Select the option to Print video to DV Tape 4 Switch the camera into VCR mode and then click the Next button 91 5 92
