ARTED CHILD RESTRAINTS e Children 12 years and under should ride properly buckled up in a rear seat if available According to crash statistics children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seats rather than in the front e Every state in the United States and all Canadian provinces require that small children ride in proper restraint systems This is the law and you can be prosecuted for ignoring it Installing The LATCH Compatible Child Restraint System e Your vehicle s second row passenger seats are equipped with the child restraint anchorage system called LATCH which stands for Lower Anchors and Tether for CHildren e The rear outboard seating positions have lower anchors and all three rear seating positions have top tether anchors e Child seats with fixed lower attachments must be installed in the outboard positions only Child seats with flexible lower attachments can be used in all three seating positions e Never install LATCH compatible child seats such that two seats share a common lower anchorage e Loosen the child seat adjusters on the lower straps and tether straps so that you can attach the hook or connector to the lower and tether anchorages more easily e Attach the lower hooks or connectors over the top of the anchorage bars pushing aside the seat cover material The rear seat lower anchorages are round bars located at the rear of the seat cushion where it meets the seatback The rear seat

ATA RECORDER EDR e This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder EDR The main purpose of an EDR is to record in certain crash or near crash like situations such as an air bag deployment or hitting a road obstacle data that will assist in understanding how a vehicle s systems performed The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time typically 30 seconds or less The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as e How various systems in your vehicle were operating e Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled fastened How far if at all the driver was depressing the accelerator and or brake pedal and e How fast the vehicle was traveling e These data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur NOTE EDR data are recorded by your vehicle only if a non trivial crash situation occurs no data are recorded by the EDR under normal driving conditions and no personal data e g name gender age and crash location are recorded However other parties such as law enforcement could combine the EDR data with the type of personally identifying data routinely acquired during a crash investigation e To read data recorded by an EDR special equipment is required and access to the vehicle or the EDR is needed In addition to the vehicle manufacturer other parties such as law enforce
