Pd TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TECHNICAL INFORMATION SUBJECT CIRCULATE TO GENERAL MANAGER X PARTS MANAGER X TECHNICIAN No TSB 05 13 009REV DATE June 2005 PCM REPROGRAMMING FOR DTC P0125 MODEL 2001 Montero X SERVIC E ADVISOR X SERVICE MANAGER X WARRANTY PROCESSOR SALES MANAGER This bulletin supercedes TSB 05 13 009 issued April 2005 Revised information is indicated by gt PURPOSE Incorrect PCM software parameters may cause Diagnostic Trouble Code P0125 Excessive Time to Enter Closed Loop Fuel Control to set To eliminate this condition reprogram the PCM as described pin this bulletin Replace the four heated oxygen sensors after reprogramming the PCM if they were not replaced in a previous warranty repair after 11 02 AFFECTED VEHICLES 2001 Montero PROCEDURE Z CAUTION BATTERY VOLTAGE AS MEASURED AT THE BATTERY POSTS WITHOUT ELECTRICAL LOAD MUST BE 12 4V OR HIGHER IN ORDER TO REPROGRAM THE PCM 1 Check the underside of the hood to verify that there is no label previously installed to indicate that this TSB reprogramming has already been done 2 Verify that the vehicle s PCM part number is listed in the table in Step 9 a Verify whether the ROM ID is the same as the ROM ID listed in the table in Step 9 If the ROM ID is the same as or higher than the ROM ID in the table the PCM has already been reprogrammed for t
5. his concern 3 Use the MUT III to erase all DTCs set in the PCM 4 Verify that your MUT III has the most current version of the reprogramming database a b C d Select Special Function then select ECU Reprogramming Select Database File Display The database version is displayed in the top right corner of the screen Make sure the database version is N05021 or greater If the database version is less than N05021 install the latest reflash database Then go to Step 5 If the database version is N05021 or greater go to Step 7 5 Turn the ignition key to OFF and disconnect the MUT III Continued FILE UNDER Group 13 Fuel in the Dealer Service Information Binder 2881 Page 2 of 4 TSB 05 13 009REV 6 Gather the following reprogramming equipment Memory Card 128 MByte Compact Flash MB991853 Memory Card Adapter PCMCIA MB991939 VCI unit MB991824 MUT III main harness A MB991910 blue Engine Compartment Control Module Labels p n MSSF 024G 00 MUT III MAIN HARNESS MUT III LAPTOP MEMORY CARD ADAPTER rs MEMORY CARD 7 Transfer the reprogramming data from the laptop to the memory card 8 Remove the memory card from the laptop and install it in the VCI Connect the VCI to the vehicle YOU MUST DISCONNECT THE MUT LAPTOP 9 Select 1 Automatic rpg For reprogramming details refer to TSB 03 00 015 It will take up to 20 minutes to complete the reprogramming
