2. With the bags attached route the sheathed speaker wires outside of bags toward the battery compartment making absolutely sure they will be out of the way of the wheel drive belt or any other moving or high temperature parts Use wire ties and wire tie holders wherever needed Plug the male female quick connects together for each side making sure again the wire colors match across the two connectors If the quick connectors are improperly installed and the wire colors do not match your speakers will be out of phase and not sound properly CORRECT INCORRECT Tip If the wire colors do not match across the 2 quick connectors you can fix this without un pinning the quick connects as they are very difficult to remove once pinned correctly DO NOT pull on these wires or the wire will pull out of the pin and ruin your connector If your connectors are indeed backward you can do one of two things Swap the terminals on the speaker so that the colored wire goes to negative and the black to positive If this is not possible or undesirable you can do the same procedure at the amplifier instead swapping the colored wire to negative and black to positive for the affected channel s At this point you are ready to connect the power and ground wires to the battery and test the system You should have no distortion through your front or rear speakers at 3 4 volume Tip If you do have distortion or you feel the front or rear speakers are too loud yo
3. each bag under where the hinge straps were attached Remove these 2 screws on each bag to free the lids from the saddlebag lowers and set the lids aside To cleanly route the speaker wires into the bags use a 3 8 bit and drill a hole in each saddlebag lower on the side of the bag which faces inward towards the wheel The hole placement should be approximately 7 down from the top of the bag and 7 back from the front of the bag although this placement is not critical With holes drilled insert the provided rubber grommets into these holes Using the short sheathed speaker wires provided in the kit insert each wiring pair through the grommets from the outside so that the quick connectors are on the outside of the bags Crimp speaker terminal connectors to each of these wires if they are not already attached and set the bag lowers aside Start preparing the replacement lids by cutting the included grill fabric using the provided paper patterns Do this by cutting the paper pattern out and tracing the shape onto the grill fabric with a white china marker or paint pen When cutting the fabric for each side pay attention to the side of the fabric marked This Side Up Next put a bead of RTV Automotive Silicone on the outside of the lid around the recessed area for the grill Taking a piece of the included hydrophobic fabric you want to adhere this fabric to the lid over the opening from
4. starting the installation you should have the replacement saddlebag lids and grills prepped and painted to your desired look Some type of finish must be put on the lids and grills to ensure the longevity of the product Start by removing your outer fairing both saddlebags and seat according to your factory service manual If you are unsure how to do this consult your local motorcycle shop for assistance For lids only kits you should review all of our procedures installing the audio lids as well as locations for amp wiring etc to get an idea how to install your chosen equipment However your step by step for your chosen audio components may be somewhat different With the outer fairing removed clear any wires from the area above your radio You may need to unclip and relocate one or more wiring looms to make room for the amplifier Attach one side of the provided Velcro block to the bottom of your amplifier and the other side to the top of your radio and secure the amplifier It is also a good idea to clean the surfaces that the Velcro will attach to with rubbing alcohol before applying Next connect the provided heavy power red and ground black wires to the amplifier Consult the user manual for the amplifier to review the amp power ground hookup as well as other specific amplifier functions Once attached to the amp route these wires toward the neck of the bike and underneath your tank toward the battery Tip You can easily rout
5. 2 adhesive areas to separate them Attach the newly completed audio lids to the saddlebag lowers just as the stock lids where removed from the hinge bolts When installing the new lid hinge straps make sure to use the stock metal strap braces with the new lid hinge straps Also you may need to poke holes in the replacement straps for the screw locations Don t worry if there are holes already puched in different locations Simply line the new straps up with holes in the stock metal braces and use a sharp razor knife to put a star in the material to allow the screws to pass through Simones After the straps have been prepared start by attaching one strap to the speaker mounting hole shown to the left below Then use the provided plastic spacers between the straps and spider frames for the second location on each lid Once the new saddlebag lids and stock saddlebag lowers are completely assembled connect the speaker wire terminals to the speakers using the colored wires for positive and black wires for negative Use wire ties and wire tie holders to route these wires neatly around the inside of the bags to the grommet location Reattach the saddlebags to the bike just as they were removed making sure to keep the sheathed speaker wires that are hanging from the bags out of the way of pinch points and or high temperature areas These wires should be facing toward the front of the bike after the bags are reinstalled

7. e wires under the tank without removing it using a snaking tool coat hanger or something similar Do this by pushing the long tool under the tank so it is exposed at both ends Then simply tape your wires securely to the snaking tool and carefully pull the tool w wires attached through the tank channel Just don t try to pull too many wires through at the same time to avoid hang ups Once you have the wires exposed near the battery simply crimp the provided terminal connectors onto the wires if they are not already attached DO NOT connect these wires to the battery yet to avoid any shorting or shock hazard while finishing the amp installation Attach the bare ends of the right left speaker wire pairs to the outputs on the amplifier by stripping back just a bit of bare wire Use the colored wires for positive and black wires for negative Consult the user guide for your amplifier if you are unsure where to make these connections Once connected route these wires underneath the tank as with the power and ground wires making sure to keep the pairs for each side left right separate Once the wires are exposed near the seat area attach the female quick connects by unclipping the small plastic keeper doors and sliding the pins into the connectors When the pins are inserted properly they will snap firmly into place and allow the plastic keeper doors to close If you have trouble getting the pins to snap in try flipping them over and reinserti
8. he lid latch levers into the new saddlebag lids as removed from the stock lids before proceeding Put a bead of silicone on the speaker adapter bezels on the narrow side that goes toward the spider frame and screw the bezels into the lids Let the silicone set up a bit before proceeding Tip If your bead of silicone gets smeared or doesn t seal perfectly when bolting in the bezels you can always go around the edges with a bit more silicone Use your fingers to spread it evenly and remove any unneeded excess Put a generous bead of silicone on the speaker bezel where it will meet the speaker and bolt your speakers onto the bezels with the speaker terminals facing the front of the bike It is important the speakers be bolted in with the connection terminals facing the front of the bag so they will not be in the way of the hinge straps when finished Attach the outer lock plate to the new lids using the 3 screws as removed and adhere the new lid seals onto the replacement lids by peeling the backing from the lid seals and pressing the seal onto the new lids in the seal location You should clean the lid surface for the seal with alcohol to maxmimize hold before applying the adhesive seals _ Tip You will need to split the 2 lid seals apart as you generally get one piece that is 2 seals Simply tear the two seals down the middle where they are split between the
9. nd make sure you have completed everything correctly Failure to follow all instructions correctly may result in damage to your sound system or and or void your factory warranty Bagger Audio 2014 amp Later Harley Saddlebag Lids Install Guide Cycle Sounds LLC 275 NW Victoria Drive Lee s Summit MO 64086 866 427 2346 Toll Free 816 525 2628 Office 816 525 3647 Fax www cyclesounds com
10. ng as the top bottom orientation of the pins and connectors does matter At this point it is a good idea to go ahead and pin the matching male connectors onto the short sheathed speaker wires Do this in the same way as the female connectors making sure the wire colors match across the wires according to the diagram Once this is done set the short speaker wires aside for now ES lt Tip Pay close attention to the orientation of these wires across the quick connector plugs as they must match what is shown or your speakers will be out of phase and not sound correctly If you hear a tinny alien type sound come from your speakers check to make sure the positive negative wires match polarity from the amplifier all the way to the speakers before doing any other troubleshooting as this is a most common problem Route each long wire pair to the left or right of the battery compartment paying attention to which pair is right and which is left When you are sitting on the bike your right and left hand sides should match the pairs coming from the amplifier for right left channels This is not critical but some people can tell if right left channels are swapped when listening With your saddlebags removed detach the stock lids by removing the 2 hinge strap bolts on the inside of the bag not the lid while holding the lid so it does not fall Once the hinge straps screws are removed this will expose 2 more screws on the inside of
11. side and they should come out fairly easily Insert the spider frame into the new saddlebag lids as removed from the stock lids When inserting the frames into the new lids it will be a good bit tougher to fit than the stock lids This is because there is an added catch area on the replacement lids to hold the spider frame securely with the added weight of the speakers Start by finding the extra catch in the upper corner of the lids and insert the spider frame behind this catch and slowly push the frame into place You will need to flex the lid slightly while doing this to get everything in the correct location When this is done correctly you will here the frame pop into place and the 4 screw holes should line up Tip Insert a screwdriver into the latch hole from the outside of the lid and through the screw hole in the spider frame to help flex and align the lid and frame making sure not to damage the paint Use a thick cloth around the screwdriver where it will touch the paint to reduce any chance of damage Using medium pressure you should hear the frame pop into place Once everything is in the proper location the 4 screw holes should line up exactly with little to no slop in the frame Once the spider frames are determined to be in the correct location starting with the front screw insert the 4 phillips head screws into each lid to secure the spider frames and install t
12. the outside of the lid Make sure to keep the fabric as flat and stretched tight as possible Pay attention to the up down side of the fabric while doing this The fabric up side should go up when doing this step so the up side is up when the lid is closed on the bike aA Tip Once the silicone has dried completely you may want to take a razor knife and cut away any extra fabric that is not needed leaving just a minimal amount beyond the silicone This is completely optional but will clean up the look once finished Once the silicone for the hydrophobic fabric is dry install the grills by inserting the tabs from the top of the lid and seat the grills as flush to the lid as possible Once the grills are in the correct location flip the lids over and bend the tabs to secure the grills From the inside of the lid you should now put silicone in the tab hole locations to keep any moisture from entering through these areas Take the stock lids and remove the 3 outer lock plate bolts from the inside of each lid to free the lock plates from the lids Also detach the lid latch levers by removing the screws holding them from the inside of the lids Set the removed items aside Remove the 4 Torx bit screws that are holding the plastic spider frames and remove them from the stock lids When removing the spider frames simply pull up on the frame from the hinge
13. u can adjust the output levels for front rear speakers on the amplifier and or radio depending on your setup If you cannot get the system balanced properly you should seek a qualified audio technician There are many adjustments that can be made that are outside of the scope of this installation instruction Generally fine tuned balancing is not needed but may depend on how picky one would like to get with the sound quality Once you are happy with the sound reinstall the fairing and seat as removed and carefully check and double check that all wires are away from any pinch points and moving parts Failure to do so may result in damage or catastrophic death to your audio system your ride and or you so take this step extremely seriously Tip Every time you work on your bike or install anything you should always run through a thorough ride checklist before getting back out on the road This might sound like overkill to a seasoned rider but often times it is seasoned riders who are likely to be working on their own bikes Always take the time to go through a thorough ride checklist just as a pilot would before taking any airplane into the sky Be responsible be thorough and stay safe Please read and complete all instructions before turning on or doing any adjustment to your audio system When the radio and amplifier are set up correctly there should be no distortion of the sound at 3 4 volume If there is please review all instructions a
