16. 8 Accuracy of Data and some parts of Section 11 Additional Requirements of the Standard User defined protocols may be created saved and recalled for future use In addition the user can create a mini database of the incubators and warmers that have been or are to be tested In order to do a test the user must input an identification number ID and or a serial number so that the test report can be identified The test technician s initials are also required so the report will show who was responsible for doing the test Other information can be optionally input to further identify the DUT Overview Chapter 2 Page 14 IncuTest OPERATING MANUAL 2 7 Incubator Primer Infant Incubators are a controlled temperature environment which are used to maintain the body temperature of newborns who for various reasons are unable to regulate their own body temperature Incubators generally work in one of two modes 1 air temperature control or 2 body temperature control In air temperature control the heater in the incubator is used to control the temperature of the ait at a location close to the heater The air is forced to flow through the incubator chamber by means of a fan The air circulates through the main chamber of the incubator where the infant lies on a mattress The air returns to the heating chamber which normally is located in a mechanical structure below the main chamber The incubator is designed to create an airflow which is reaso

IncuTest OPERATING MANUAL The cables from the individual Pucks will connect to the HUB as indicated in Figure 12 Figure 1 and Figure 2 Figure 12 Temperature Sensor Connection Locations The sensors for Sound Airflow and Humidity also connect to the HUB as indicated in Figure 1 and Figure 2 These sensors are utilized when the relevant test is selected in the software test setup When utilized the sensors are held in place on the Puck by magnets At the computer the USB Interface is connected to any available USB port The USBI provides the data connection to the PC and the wireless connection to the HUB in the Test System When the software application program begins a test it may take up to a minute to initiate communications between the USBI and the HUB The USBI also provides connections to the Sound Sensor so that it can be used to test alarm sounds outside of the incubator and connections to the Skin Sensor Oven so that Skin Temperature Probes can be checked for accuracy Overview Chapter 2 Page 13 IncuTest OPERATING MANUAL 2 5 Power On After the System has been setup for the required mechanical positions it may be turned on by pressing the Power On switch on the HUB shown in Figure 1 If the HUB is being charged with the AC Adapter plugged into the Power Input connector a small LED below the Power On switch will illuminate RED regardless of the position of the Power On switch If the Power On switch is activated

PERATING MANUAL The values of both NSL and BSL are recorded with BSL at least 10 dB below NSL and NSL should not exceed 60 dB in the baby compartment The result of this test represents the amount of the noise generated by the incubator s air circulation fan Air Flow Measurements The flow of ait in the baby incubator is measured in terms of Air Velocity AV section 11 clause 104 1 and is measured at positions T2 T3 T4 and T5 The AV at any of the specified points shall not exceed 0 35 m s This test is performed before the temperature testing is started During the test the airflow sensor must be moved to the appropriate position as prompted by the software Warm Up Time It is the expectation that the temperature profile in the infant incubator will generally follow the graph as shown in Figure 15 The first component of the profile is called the Warm Up Time WT and the test requirements are defined in the Standard section 8 clause 50 108 Temperature Variation 0 5 C Incubator temperature with tilted mattress 10C Average Incubator temperature Ambient temperature _ Warm up time Steady temperature condition Figure 15 Temperature Profile The Warm up Time is only relevant if the Incubator Temperature is at least 12 C below the Control Temperature CT setting at the start of the test This is best accomplished if the Warm up Time is the first test performed with the incubator initially at a

26. ature Control test is ready to begin Running a Test Chapter 4 Page 33 IncuTest OPERATING MANUAL To test the Skin Sensor it must be placed in a tightly controlled temperature environment IncuTest provides an optional Sensor Oven to perform this test The Sensor is removed from the incubator Baby Compartment and placed in the Oven The Sensor remains plugged into the incubator Control Panel and the incubator must be placed into the Skin Temperature Control Mode with the temperature of the Skin Sensor displayed The adhesive disk which holds the sensor to the infant s skin must be removed and if necessary the sensor should be unrolled so the cable is straight The sensor should be positioned in the Oven as indicated in Figure 25 with the sensor tip toward the back of the thermal pad in the Oven to provide good thermal contact Figure 25 Sensor Placed in Oven The Oven is connected to the USBI at the computer via an RS 232 cable and must be connected to its own 15 18 VDC power supply via the adapter input connection on the back of the Oven Press the Power ON OFF switch on the front panel to activate the Oven The Skin Sensor Accuracy Test can be performed at temperatures from 28 C to 40 C in increments of 2 C The Oven is controlled by IncuTest software when connected to the USBI Once the Sensor has been correctly placed in the Oven as indicated above click the OK button to initiate the Sensor Test Alternately the Cancel
