10. dised bath The TC 9D provides the following features not provided by the energy regulator 1 Precise temperature setting 2 Improved temperature stability Control is achieved by monitoring the signal from the thermocouple sensor By this means the controller will react directly to correct temperature stability 3 Stable temperature under varying loads With the energy regulator the dial setting mustbe manually adjusted to correctfor changes in heat requirements due to a variation in bath loading or ambienttemperature The TC 9D will automatically adjust the heater output to take account of these varying conditions The TC 9D consists of a temperature controller mounted in a case with solid state relay switching and is capable of handling up to 20 amps Connections to the fluidised bath and to the thermocouple are conveniently made with sockets on the back of the instrument In use the TC 9D by passes completely the energy regulator control on the fluidised bath and cycles all the heating elements on and off at the same time The unit is mounted on four rubber feet and provided with a three wire cord and thermocouple When you receive your unit make sure you keep the original packing in case you ever need to return it for service or repair The unit must be transported in the original packing to avoid damage Techne accepts no responsibility for damage incurred unless the unit is correctly packed and transported in this way

17. live holds the thermocouple firmly but do not over tighten 4 Connect a clean dry air supply regulated to 30 PSI via 3 8 OD or 9 5mm OD tubing This tubing should be plugged into the quick disconnect fitting on back of the TC9D labeled air supply Connect 3 8 or 9 5mm OD tubing between the Fluidized bath and the quick disconnect fitting on back labeled Fluidized bath 5 Before connecting the mains supply check the voltage with that marked on the rating plate Connect the mains cable on the TC 9D to a suitable supply as follows CONNECTIONS 230Vor110 120V Live Brown or Black Neutral Blue or White Earth Green yellow The rating plate is on the rear of the unit 6 Setthe energy regulator on the fluidised bath to 10 7 Svitch all the fluidised bath heaters on as the TC 9D will control the temperature by controlling the power input TC 9D OPERATOR S MANUAL OPERATION TC 9D 1 Use the up and down arrows to enter a setpoint temperature The bath will begin to heat immediately The top display is the measured thermocouple temperature and bottom is the setpoint 2 To change the display from OC to oF and vice versa press the 2nd button from the left until the lower display shows UNITS Next press Up arrow to reach preferred setting Press 1st putton on the left to exit after changes are made 3 Two setpoint programming can be used by entering values at menu option SP1 and SP2 See step 2 to access options and exit ou

20. procedures If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by Techne the protection provided by the equipment to the Operator may be impaired All Techne units have been designed to conform to international safety requirements and are fitted with an overtemperature cutout On some models the cutout is adjustable and should be set to suit the application On all other models the cutout is preset to protect the unit If a safety problem should be encountered switch off at the mains socket and remove the plug from the supply Installation 1 All Techne units are supplied with a power cable This may be integral or plug in 2 Before connecting the mains supply check the voltage against the rating plate The rating plate is on the rear of the unit Connect the mains cable to a suitable plug according to the table below Note that the unit must be earthed to ensure proper electrical safety Connections 220V 240V 110V 120V Live Brown Black Neutral Blue White Earth Green yellow Green The fused plug supplied with the mains lead for use in the UK is fitted with the following value fuse to protect the cable 13AMP The fuse in the unit protects the unit and the operator Note that units marked 230V on the rating plate work at 220V units marked 120V work at 110V In both cases however the heating rate will degrade by approximately 8 3 Plug the mains cable into the socket on the rear of the unit 4 Place the unit on a suitable bench or f
