SS IONOMER 1 After tooth preparation and cavity conditioning selected class restoration and prior to the insertion of the glass ionomer ask the patient to place the tongue at the back of the soft palate and then occlude with the tongue in the retruded position 2 With the teeth in occlusion examine the occlusal surface of the prepared tooth to determine how much restorative material is required 3 Insert the glass ionomer and slightly over fill the preparation Puddle the unset glass ionomer around with a microbrush into all the occlusal buccal and lingual fis sures 4 Insert the occlusal matrix and ask the patient to close once again into the retruded position onto the matrix 5 Ask the patient to make several short protrusive and lateral excursions of the mandible and then to return to centric position 6 While the teeth remain occluded place a curing light against the buccal wall of the restored tooth and photoinitiate for 15 seconds to spot cure the material 7 Ask the patient to disclude and cure the occlusal surface for a further 20 seconds 8 Minimal finishing of the restoration may be carried out using the clinicians preferred technique 9 Protect the restoration with a light cured sealant The Occlusal Matrix System allows the operator to undertake multiple restorations in different parts of the mouth Simply connect the handle of a male and female matrix together and adjust the shape to accommodate 4 separate siz
