9. 005 y 7 Human Interface 2005 SMMAPSiHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 0 HH 00 3143 SMMAPS Scenario based Multimedia Manual Authoring and Presentation System for Persons with Disabilities Hideaki Shimada and Muneo Kitajima Abstract This paper describes a specification of SMMAPS Scenario based Multi media Manual Authoring and Presentation System a system for creating and presenting instruction manuals which can consider individual needs of persons with disabilities An instruction manual is represented as a scenario defined as a sequence of scenes that are composed by combining multimedia components such as photo animation movie explanatory text hand language narration and attention attracting effect blinking ob ject rectangle etc retrieved from material database Each material has attributes that define the abstraction level of narrative text available attention attracting effect etc which are used to create scenes that match the cognitive characteristics of the intended users The proposed specification was implemented as a prototype emergency evacua tion manual in SMIL Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language with the purpose of creating scenarios suitable for persons with cognitive or intellectual disabilities This paper concludes by discussing future work including development of authoring systems for scenarios and
