5. isassembly Inspection and Service Remove Sentry Remove Valve Covers T Disconnect lead rom OW Sentry switch 2 Remove Sentry switch from breather cover Remove Inner Baffles and Breather Cove T Remove screws securing inner bales to crankcase 2 Remove inner valley baffles 3 Remove remaining screws from breather cover 4 Pry under protruding edge of breather cover with a screwdriver to break RTV or gasket seal Do not pry sealing surfaces as it could cause damage resulting in leaks Most engines use a formed gasket rather than RTV sealant 5 Remove breather cover and gasket f used Crankcase Breather System Breather system is designed to control amount of ol in head area and sili maintain necessary vacuum in crankcase A spring steel reed and stop is mounted on each bank of crankcase between lita bores When pistons move downward alr is pushed past reeds into cylinder head cavities On cylinder 2 upper end of head Is completely Sealed by rocker cover So a low positive pressure is Created in head cavity Cylinder 1 rocker cover has hole in i for venting Bottom nipple of oll separator Canister is ted into hole with grommet From top nipple of canister a breather hose goes back to air leaner base Air moving into cyinder 1 head cavity is fered through separator and then is drawn Into air intake Upward travel of pistons closes reeds and creates a ow vacuum in lower cra

Be sure sealing surfaces of crankcase and breather cover aro clean of old gasket material or RTV Salant Do not scrape surfaces as this could result n leakage 2 Check to make sure there are no nicks or burrs on Sealing surfaces 3 Position breather gasket and cover on crankcase insta fest screws n locations 3 and 4 as shown Finger tighten at his tme 4 install iner using remaining screws and finger tighten Do not torque screws al tnis Ume the Wil be tighlaned after blower housing and oler Dats are installed Install Blower Housing and Outer Baffles Wires on Starter Side of Engine KohlerEngines com 7 Reassembly NOTE Da nat completa aro instalod to al Tighten screws uni all Tama hing lor hole alignment 1 Pull wire harness and spark plug leads out through appropriate openings in shuding 2 Side blower housing into postion over front edge of inner baffles Start a few of screws lo hold Lin place 3 Posion outer bales and secure using screws wo dong wo short n front maunting holes nto cylnder head including any Ming strap or attached brackets Install wo shori screws in upper mounting holes of outer batles nio backing plates Usa short screw on llt side to mount wire bracket Be sure any leads are routed out rough rope or notches so hoy wil not be pinched Betoun bower housing and bales 4 Tighten all shrouding fasteners Torque blower

Is necessary Tor performing each of individual tests Internal damage to solenoid may occur Disconnect leads from solenoid including positive brush lead attached lo lower stud terminal Remove mounting hardware and separate solenoid from starter for testing To test solenoid pullin coliplunger Actuation d Use a 12 volt power supply and 2 test leads 2 Connect 1 lead to flat spade Sistar terminal on solenoid Momentarily connect other lead to lower large post terminal When connection is made solenoid should energize audible cick and plunger retract Repeat test Several umes Continuity 1 Use an ohmmeter set to audible or Rx2K scale and connect 2 ohmmater leads 2 large post terminals 2 Perform solenoid pullin coliplunger actuation test and check for continuity Ohmmeter should indicate Continuity Repeat test several times Condition To test solenoid holdin coi Function 4 Connecta 12 volt test lead to fat spade S start terminal on solenoid and other lead to body or mounting surface of solenoid Manually push plunger IN and check if col holds plunger retracted Do not allow test leads to remain Connected to solenoid for prolonged period of ime Continuity d Use an ohmmeter set to audible or Rx2K scale and connect 2 ohmmeler leads to 2 large post terminals 2 Perform preceding solenoid hold in function test and check for continuity Meter shouid indicate Continuity Repeat test several
