Atlantic Seniors Housing Alliance pour la recherche Research Alliance sur le logement des personnes g es dans les provinces de l Atlantique User s Guide to ASHRA s Online Community Profile Model ASHRA is an organization that represents all the groups involved in the research project Projecting the Housing Needs of Aging Atlantic Canadians ASHRA s online statistical model allows anyone to create a profile of the seniors population in their community over the next 25 years For each FSA Forward Sortation Area first three digits of your postal code the model can project how many men and women ages 50 to 85 will live there It can also project the health and wealth states of men and women in each age cohort allowing you to better understand what the diverse aging population will likely be able to afford in terms of housing and what level of support they will need nr WwW N How to use it Go to our website at www ashra ca Click on the blue Community Profiles button second from left across the top Read the legal statement and click on I Agree to continue Items listed down the left side of the Introduction will help you use the model Click on Elements of the Model to read about how the model can provide information in relation to six 6 key variables year FSA gender age health and wealth Click on Samples to see four examples of how you can use2. the model to a Determine how many seniors in your area will be over 85 in 2026 b Determine how many will fall into each of the four health states c Determine how many fall into each of the four wealth states d Combine the health and wealth data to see for instance how many moderately wealthy seniors 85 will require institutionalized care in 2026 Finally click on Go to the Model and begin creating your own community profile Use the drop down menus to choose your variables Other more detailed information on the model can be found if you click on Assumptions amp Limitations or Provincial Data Projections If you have any questions or would like help creating your own community profiles you can contact the ASHRA project office at 902 457 6561
