1. 1 rn BANK OF CANADA wis Bat BANQUE DU CANADA cn Canadian Bank Note Reader User Manual This manual will guide you in the use of your Canadian Bank Note Reader These instructions have also been provided on CD and are available online at www cnib ca Operating Instructions Hold the unit in the palm of your hand so that the ring is at the bottom and towards your left and the flat surface with the opening for the bank note is on top Insert the Canadian bank note into the slot such that the short edge of the bank note is parallel to the long side of the unit When the Bank note has been fully inserted press and release either one of the two buttons located on the sides of the unit The Bank Note Reader will announce the denomination and turn itself off Operating Controls The two buttons located on either side of the unit can be used for announcing the denomination of a bank note or for setting the desired output mode speech tone or vibration volume level and language To set the mode or adjust volume level press and hold one of the two buttons and then press and release the other button until the desired selection is achieved e Each time the second button is pressed and released the unit will switch to the next mode or volume level in the following sequence vibration mode tone mode speech volume 1 speech volume 2 speech volume 3 and back to the vibration mode again To change the language from English to French
2. and vice versa press and hold both buttons together for two seconds e A jack for an earphone is located on the edge between the two buttons towards the key ring Announcements The following spoken words are announced Five Ten Twenty Fifty Hundred Error English Francais Error may occur because e the note is not a Canadian bank note e the note is misaligned the note is not completely inserted e the note is in poor condition When tone or vibration mode is selected instead of soeech denominations are indicated by the following codes e 1 short beep or vibration indicates 5 e 2 short beeps or vibrations indicate 10 e 3 short beeps or vibrations indicate 20 e 4 short beeps or vibrations indicate 50 e 1 short beep or vibration followed by a long beep or vibration indicates 100 e 2 long beeps or vibrations indicate that the bank note cannot be read Battery Warning If the battery is weak each output message will be preceded with a long beep in speech and tone mode or long pulse in vibration mode The unit will continue to work reliably for approximately 200 more reads When the battery is weak the Bank Note Reader will automatically adjust the volume to lower levels to enable continued operation Disclaimer The Bank Note Reader is intended to assist in denominating Canadian bank notes It does not guarantee that the note tested is genuine Maintenance Instructions e Ensure that the Bank Note Reader
