The Utility inspects your installation All the devices capable of being upgraded by the package are listed in the Device List panel As you select a device in the list its description appears in the Device Description panel 25 Firmware Upgrade Utility 27 CS 1772 CS 1774 User Manual 4 After you have made your device selection s Click Next to perform the upgrade Ifyou enabled Check Firmware Version the Utility compares the device s firmware level with that of the upgrade files If it finds that the device s version is equal to or higher than the upgrade version it brings up a dialog box informing you of the situation and gives you the option to Continue or Cancel Prompt i gt The firmware wer 1 0 is not newer than current firmware Wer 1 0 090 ay in device CS 1774 1772 MAIN 000 Continue the upgrade Yes No Jw If you didn t enable Check Firmware Version the Utility installs the upgrade files without checking whether they are a higher level or not As the Upgrade proceeds status messages appear in the Status Messages panel and the progress toward completion is shown on the Progress bat 28 6 The Firmware Upgrade Utility Upgrade Succeeded After the upgrade has completed a screen appears to inform you that the procedure was successful 25 Firmware Upgrade Utility x The Firmware upgrade was successful Click Finish to close the utilit
3. 2 Hardware Setup Port Numbering Each CPU port on the CS 1772 CS 1774 switch is assigned a port number 1 or 2 for the CS 1772 1 to 4 for the CS 1774 The port numbers are marked on the rear panel of the switch The Port ID of a computer is derived from the CPU port number it is connected to For example a computer connected to CPU port 2 has a Port ID of 2 The Port ID is used to specify which computer gets the KVM USB hub and audio focus with the Hotkey port selection method see page 13 for details Powering Off and Restarting If it becomes necessary to Power Off the Master View unit do the following 1 Power off the switch Unplug the KVM cables from the switch s rear panel Unplug the switch s power adapter cable 2 Wait 10 seconds then reconnect the KVM cables 3 Plug the switch s power adapter cable back in Hot Plugging The Master View CS 1772 CS 1774 supports USB hot plugging components can be removed and added back into the installation by unplugging their cables from the CPU ports without the need to shut the unit down CS 1772 CS 1774 User Manual Alternative Manual Port Selection Settings When Hotkey Setting Mode has been activated pressing S will invoke the alternative front panel pushbutton manual port selection functions as follows see page 20 Press and hold a port selection pushbutton for more than 3 seconds to bring the KVM audio and USB focus to the compute

7. device does not operate normally when the operating instructions are followed Only adjust those controls that are covered in the operating instructions Improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage that will require extensive work by a qualified technician to repair vi CS 1772 CS 1774 User Manual Rack Mounting Before working on the rack make sure that the stabilizers are secured to the rack extended to the floor and that the full weight of the rack rests on the floor Install front and side stabilizers on a single rack or front stabilizers for joined multiple racks before working on the rack Always load the rack from the bottom up and load the heaviest item in the rack first Make sure that the rack is level and stable before extending a device from the rack Use caution when pressing the device rail release latches and sliding a device into or out of a rack the slide rails can pinch your fingers After a device is inserted into the rack carefully extend the rail into a locking position and then slide the device into the rack Do not overload the AC supply branch circuit that provides power to the rack The total rack load should not exceed 80 percent of the branch circuit rating Ensure that proper airflow is provided to devices in the rack Do not step on or stand on any device when servicing other devices in a rack Copyright 2005 2015 ATEN International Co Ltd Manual
8. to invoke HSM See below for details When HSM is active the Caps Lock and Scroll Lock LEDs flash in succession to indicate that HSM is in effect They stop flashing and revert to normal status when you exit HSM Ordinary keyboard and mouse functions are suspended only Hotkey compliant keystrokes and mouse clicks described in the sections that follow can be input At the conclusion of some hotkey operations you automatically exit hotkey mode With some operations you must exit manually To exit HSM manually press the Esc key or the Spacebar CS 1772 CS 1774 User Manual Alternate HSM Invocation Keys An alternate set of HSM invocation keys is provided in case the default set conflicts with programs running on the computers To switch to the alternate HSM invocation set do the following 1 Invoke HSM see page 17 2 Press and release the H key The HSM invocation keys become the Ctrl key and F12 instead of Num Lock and minus Note This procedure is a toggle between the two methods To revert back to the original HSM invocation keys invoke HSM then press and release the H key again Alternate Port Switching Keys The port switching activation keys can be changed from tapping the Scroll Lock key twice Seroll Lock Scroll Lock to tapping the Ctrl key twice To change the port switching activation keys do the following 1 Invoke HSM see page 17 2 Press and release the T key

21. into the Console microphone and speaker jacks located on the unit s rear panel Using a KVM cable set provided with this package plug the custom SPHD connector into any available CPU Port on the switch and plug the accompanying microphone and speaker connectors into the CPU Port s microphone and speaker jacks Note 1 The connectors and jacks are color coded and marked with an appropriate icon for easy installation 2 Be sure that all the plugs are in the same CPU Port sockets all in Port 1 all in Port 2 etc At the other end of the cable plug the USB keyboard mouse USB hub video microphone and speaker cables into their respective ports on the computer Use Cat5 cable to connect any available ethernet port on the switch to the computer s ethernet port Repeat steps 3 5 for any other computers you are connecting up Plug the cable from your external LAN source into any available ethernet port on the switch Plug the power adapter that came with your switch into an AC power source then plug the power adapter cable into the switch s Power Jack Plug your USB peripherals into the USB hub section on the front panel CS 1772 CS 1774 User Manual
