O O OOOO Grid Connect Photovoltaic Inverter KP100L OD O0 USER S MANUAL 2 17 2 Design 5 2 RS 485 Wire RS 485 terminal between host controller and KP100L as shown below RS 485 driver sends data by modulating the differential voltage The receiver must sense and decode the differential There are limits to the voltages the transmitters and receivers can work with If there are different ground potential between host and KP100L one of the devices might operate outside the specified voltage range To ensure communication with same ground potential use 3 wire cable twisted pair and connect signal ground between host and KP100L with one of 3 wire Shield of the wire can reduce effect of common mode noise When you don t use 3 wire and don t connect signal ground whether or not you succeed RS 485 communication depends on the difference of ground potential between host and KP100L If differential voltage of RS 485 is within the operation voltage range of receiver IC you can use RS 485 communication Note that if you don t connect signal ground resistance against noise become lower In case using 3 wire with shield In case using 2 wire with shield ma Host E d IT KP100L RS 485
