2. ad SS IE 4 Installation and Preparing for use Your Inspiration Cot comes fully assembled and ready for use Simply remove any packaging and connect the mains cable to an appropriate mains socket outlet W G Ensure that the m gt is not in tension when conneg e ower supply ets are clear of hem from becoming Note The cot must only be used with a mains supply of 240V 50Hz If this product is to be used outside of the UK seek professional advice as to the compatibility of this product with the mains power supply type 5 Operating the Inspiration Cot General Safety When the cot is operated ensure that ancillary equipment and general furniture is not in the way Check that all electrical cables are free from tension and are positioned so as to avoid both patient and carer accidents Ensure that the mattress used Is of correct size and type A range of dynamic and static pressure relieving reducing mattresses are available from Sidhil Ltd Ensure that the patient is positioned appropriately within the cot and ensure that they are aware in advance of each action taking place The cot s braking system should always be engaged when not in motion Ensure these user instructions are kept in a safe place at all times Additional copies are available from Sidhil Ltd and via the internet at www sidhil com 6 Electrics i Handset The handset is designed to be used by the carer only The mattress platform can
3. and the handwheel tightened 13 Do s amp Don ts Do ensure you read these instructions and fully understand them before using the cot Do ensure the cot Is cleaned on a regular basis Do ensure the cot Is inspected on a regular basis minimum once yearly service Do ensure that all the control plugs are pushed home firmly Do ensure the mains lead Is plugged into the mains supply Do Not exceed the safe working load of 160kg 25 stone when the mattress platform is flat and 50kg 8 stone when in tilt Do Not store any Items under the cot Do Not allow children to play with or under the cot Do Not use the cot if the actuators make any unusual noises smells or become excessively hot Do Not allow any part of the cot or mattress to come into contact with any naked flame or excessive heat sources 14 Cleaning Procedure i Biocote Your cot comes with an antibacterial additive incorporated into the powder SIDHIL coated metalwork Biocote inhibits the growth of bacteria on the surface of the cot frame It is effective against a wide range of both gram positive and negative bacteria as well as fungi Examples of bacteria that Biocote is resistant to include Bacillus Subtilis Staphylococcus Aureus MRSA Escerichia Coli O 57 Streptococcus Faecalis Salmonella Enteritides Listeria Monocytogenes AN Biocote is an aid to keeping your cot infection free but it does not substitute the need for the cot to
4. be cleaned at regular intervals ii Cleaning All surfaces to be wiped down with a soft cloth moistened with a mild detergent or the hospital s recommended cleaning solution and diluted in hot water Extra care should be taken around areas where excess dirt or dust may gather Rinse down with clean water and dry off with a paper towel If any infectious material s have been in contact with the bed or it has been used by a patient with a known Infection the above procedure should be followed by an additional clean with NaDCC Presept Actichlor at 10 000 PPM of Chlorine or instructions as prescribed by manufacturer Rinse and dry again Always ensure that cleaned parts are allowed to dry before putting the mattress back in place Disconnect the cot from tie er supply before cleaning Ensure that the handset is p iq myvater ingress into terminals 15 Maintenance Procedure Only authorised Sidhil service personnel or approved service agents should carry out repairs or service activities Failure to do so may result in the manufacturer s warranty becoming void If a fault does occur please try the following suggestions before calling your supplier for assistance as these may help in diagnosing the fault Fault Diagnosis In the event that the user experiences problems operating the cot the following checks should be carried out initially General e Check that the cot is free of any obstructions e Check that the

6. maximum load has not been exceeded e Check that the CPR has not been activated and the system not reset e Check that the cot has not reached its maximum or minimum height e Check that the cot is plugged into the mains supply Partial Electrical Failure e If the cot only has certain functions working or it operates very slowly the cot may be working off the battery backup facility Check the power on light on the bottom of the control box located under the mattress platform is lit If off the cot is running off the battery backup facility Make sure the cot Is plugged into the mains supply Disconnect the cot from the mains supply then e Check that the handset is correctly plugged in and that none of the plug pins are bent or damaged try another handset if available ensure control box is unplugged when swapping handset e Check that the actuator controlling the required function is fully plugged in e Check that the mains lead is pushed fully into the control box and is not damaged e Check that the mains lead is connected to the mains supply e f none of the above work keep the cot unplugged from the mains supply and contact your authorised service personnel or Sidhil Ltd Do not use the cot until the problem has been resolved Total Electric Failure Check that the green LED located on the bottom of the control box is lit If off check that the cot Is plugged into the mains supply and switched on If on disconne

8. side rail into the desired position and release the buttons Ensure that the side rail has locked in position at both ends S COUA i AS x l the cot and cannot fall when ils are in the lowest position Ensure that the occupant is 2 ay from ie sides adjusting the mattress platfo 2OS tiO hait heside 10 Shelf To raise the shelf squeeze both spring loaded release handles these are situated to the shelf underside on the left and right hand sides Lift the shelf until it is level once in position release the handles and ensure that the handles have locked in position To fold the shelf down squeeze both release handles and gently lower it down 11 Head and Foot Ends Your cot comes with removable head and foot ends allowing for four sided carer access to the mattress platform Io remove the ends simply lift the frame out of the location tubes The head and foot ends can also be specified to have a break In and out section optional extra allowing for tube access to the patient whilst keeping the ends in position To position the tubes through the gap in the head foot end lift the green latch position the tubes through the gap and then re close the latch 12 Transfusion Pole Optional Extra The safe working load of the transfusion pole is Okg however no more than 3kg should be hung from each hook The pole should be inserted into one of the sockets found to the head end of the mattress platform
9. be tilted from either the head or foot end and the cot height is adjustable To adjust the position of the cot depress the relevant button until the desired point has been reached and then release the button Head End Tilt o raise the head end depress L A Head End Tilt V To lower the head end depress v DA A Foot End Tilt o raise the foot end depress A Foot End Tilt V To lower the foot end depress Tilt Operation Before raising one end ensure opposite end is fully lowered Cot Height lo raise the cot depress Ensure Base is Clear Before Operating To lower the cot depress SIDHIL HB W073 071 le le e e le gt le lt gt lt gt Note When putting the mattress platform into tilt it is only possible to have one end in tilt at any one time Before raising one end ensure that the opposite end is fully lowered ii Battery Backup A battery backup feature will automatically be engaged when the bed is disconnected from the mains supply This allows emergency or temporary operation of the cot for a limited period but will vary depending on the features used If operated using the battery backup an alarm will sound when the battery level becomes low The cot should remain connected to the mains supply at all times for normal use to ensure that the batteries remain fully charged This will also prolong the l
10. ct the cot from the mains supply then e Check that all leads and cables are plugged in positively and correctly and that the red circular clip is locked in position over the mains lead control box plug e Check replace the fuse in the mains plug e f none of the above work keep the cot unplugged from the mains supply and contact your authorised service personnel or Sidhil Ltd Do not use the cot until the problem has been resolved Sidhil recommends that every six months the following maintenance procedures should be carried out to help prolong the life of the cot Prior to any maint Jisconnect the cot General Ensure that all fixings including nuts and bolts are tight and that none are missing or incomplete Check that all cabling is in good condition and that wear or abrasion has not caused any excessive bending kinking or damage Check that the mains cable plug Is not damaged Should damage or deterioration occur to the mains cable or plug they must be replaced by authorised service personnel or Sidhil Ltd Under no circumstances should the plug be replaced by unauthorised personnel Braking Position the brake pedal in the brake position see section 8 for brake operation Now try to move the cot with a normal level of force Should any of the three braked castors rotate move the brake system is not working effectively Position the brake pedal in the steer position and check that the steering lock is
11. ife of the batteries iii Resetting Initialising the Electrical System e Press and hold both hiJow buttons on the handset together e An audible alarm will be heard for approximately 5 seconds e When the alarm stops sounding release the buttons and drive the cot up to Its maximum height e When at maximum height re press the up button again e The cot is now reset and will work correctly 7 Emergency Mechanical CPR Function Optional Accessory The mattress platform can be levelled by pulling a handle found at the foot end of the cot There is one lever to activate the foot end and another for the head end found to either side of the shelf Note The foot end is signified by the end with the shelf and the head end by the drip pole sockets i CPR Operation To operate the mechanical CPR pull the lever that is applicable to the raised end of the mattress platform If the foot end is raised the CPR handle that states CPR foot must be pulled and vice versa for the handle that states CPR head If there is any doubt as to which handle should be pulled it is advised that both handles be pulled at the same time Note The CPR function only flattens the mattress platform ii Resetting the CPR Once the CPR has been activated the system must be reset If it is not reset the mattress platform will fail to operate correctly Depending on which end has been activated the head foot end tilt down button must be pres
12. sed for 25 seconds to reset the system If the foot end cpr lever has been pulled the foot end down button s must be held down for 25 seconds and if the head end lever is activated the head end down button a should be pressed When the system has reset the handle will drop back to its original position and the mattress platform is ready for use again ion ensure that all limbs hands prevent trapping or injury 8 Braking amp Steering There are two linked brake pedals at the foot end of the cot which control all the castors simultaneously e When the pedal is in the steer position it locks one castor on the cot so that it cannot swivel This allows the cot to be steered when being pushed from the head end of the cot e When the pedal is in the free position no castors are locked b a allowing all to swivel freely e When the pedal is in the brake position three castors are locked and the cot then cannot move 9 Side Rails Your cot comes complete with two integral telescoping side rails which can be locked in position at six different heights When the side rail is fully down it provides the carer with complete access to the mattress platform regardless of the cot height i Adjusting the Side Rail Height Release the side rail by gently sliding the two yellow buttons outwards this disengages the locking mechanism While holding the buttons out gently lower raise the
