1. CVC Direct Central Vacuum Cleaners Direct Central Vacuum User Guide The central vacuum system is designed for normal domestic use It should NOT be used with liquids or damp substances as these are likely to cause material to stick to the inside of the pipes and increase the possibility of a blockage The system will not block in normal use as there is a sharp 90 degree bend behind each vacuum socket which is designed to catch any item likely to cause a blockage in the pipes In the unlikely event of a blockage occurring please ring CVC Direct for advice Ideally the storage hook for the vacuum hose should be fitted at about shoulder height To begin vacuuming either uncoil the hose and take just the end of the hose to the socket OR lift the hose onto shoulder and carry the coil to where needed Lift the flap of the vacuum socket and insert the metal end of the hose into the hole the vacuum unit will start straight away To stop the vacuum unit remove the hose from the socket If a switched hose is used make sure that the hose is inserted into the vacuum socket with the plastic tongue in either the 6 o clock or the 12 o clock position NB If it s not quite in the right position the vacuum unit will start up and the switch will be ineffective OR it will not start at all in either case just twist the hose slightly to the correct position When the vacuuming is finished remove the hose from the socket and reverse the process

When hanging the hose on the hook remember that it is easier to have 2 or 3 large loops of hose rather than several smaller loops The vacuum unit will need emptying after approximately 3 or 4 months of normal use depending on the size of the house and occupants if there are pets and or children this may need to be done a little more frequently NB A new system fitted into an existing house may need to be emptied sooner to begin with as it will be vacuuming up dirt that a portable cleaner couldn t reach To remove the bin on the Millennium range of vacuum units just twist the bin The other ranges have clips on either side of the bin Bag filters pull the paper bag gently but firmly off the inlet pipe and dispose of it When replacing the bag ensure that the elasticated collar around the hole in the bag is pushed firmly over the retaining O ring of the inlet pipe inside the vacuum unit Cyclone filter remove the bin amp place on the ground Although the textile filter inside the machine is self cleaning there will still be a quantity of dust fluff pet hairs around the rim of the filter which should be removed This is best done by placing a large plastic bag bin liner around the lower part of the body of the vacuum unit in place of the bin Through the plastic bag take hold of the textile filter up inside the machine and shake it vigourously Also scrape away the dust from around the edge of the filter so that any dust dislo
3. dged falls into the plastic bag Wait for the dust to settle remove the bin bag gently amp place on the ground GENTLY tip the contents of the bin into the plastic bag Replace the bin on the vacuum unit ensuring that there is no dirt left in the rim of the bin The service life of the motor is approximately 10 years of normal domestic use by which time the carbon brushes on the motor will need replacing It is recommended that the carbon brushes be replaced after approximately 8 years If the brushes are replaced in good time then the vacuum motor should give many more years of good service If not the motor will burn out amp need replacing Warranty Vacuum units are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for a minimum of 2 years of normal domestic use from the date of purchase Hoses and attachments are guaranteed for 1 year from date of purchase Vacuum sockets are guaranteed for 2 years from date of purchase Warranty excludes fair wear amp tear misuse of goods or damage CVC Direct reserve the right to repair or replace any item under warranty at their discretion if subject to a claim Any item subject to warranty claim to be returned to CVC Direct Ltd for inspection If a site visit is required there is a call out charge although any work or replacement parts required under warranty will be free of charge There are very few problems with a CVC Direct vacuum system and most can be solved over the telephone NB Millenniu
4. m units Occasionally the secondary textile filter inside the vacuum unit can become dislodged in transport Please check that it is securely fitted against the rim inside the body of the vacuum unit It is held in place by 4 small raised ridges just below the rim Important Safety Instructions NOTE To reduce the risk of fire electric shock or injury read all safety precautions and warning text carefully before using the machine Do not cover the the ventilation holes on top of the vacuum unit or restrict its intake port as the motor will overheat These central vacuum cleaners are solely intended for dry vacuuming indoors Do not vacuum up liquids unless a special wet pick up separator unit is used Do not vacuum near smoke naked flames or fire e g cigarettes matches hot ash or flammable liquid or gas Do not vacuum in areas where flammable liquids or gases may be present Unplug the machine before changing the filter or bag before doing any maintenance work Always unplug the machine by pulling on the plug not the power cord The wall socket and plug most be positioned so that they are clearly visible Do not vacuum up sharp objects such as broken glass that could puncture the dust bag unless an interceptor kit is used Follow the operating instructions carefully Servicing and repairs should only be carried out by an authorised workshop Use only parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer Never attempt t
5. o modify the central vacuum cleaner in any way Do not use the central vacuum unit if the power cord is damaged The central vacuum cleaner is fitted with a special type of power cord that must be replaced with a cord of the same type if it is damaged This can be obtained from an authorised service workshop The central vacuum cleaner is very powerful and should never be used as a toy by children Never vacuum without the textile filter or a dust bag fitted to the machine whichever is appropriate to your unit Warning The central vacuum cleaner must not be used to clean up hazardous waste
