July 2009 At CPI we have always placed a considerable emphasis on customer care It is our aim to make things as easy as possible for our customers by offering innovative products and technology backed up by a superior level of service The objective of this user guide is to help you get the most from the EuroMix Dry Mortar System It is intended to guide you on all aspects of the system from initial site preparation requirements to actually operating the Silo on a daily basis As such it should be studied carefully to make sure you get the most from EuroMix This EuroMix user guide covers the following areas in detail 1 Pre site ordering delivery re ordering and training 2 Site set up how to correctly place the silo on site plus power and water requirements 3 Daily use silo start up and shut down procedures the control panel and proper care of equipment This user guide also acts as a reference point for any queries which you may have on the EuroMix system If you have any difficulties with the system then your first port of call should be this user guide If having checked this user guide you are still experiencing problems then of course CPI will be happy to help you Just call your supplying depot number Pre Site Ordering All orders should be placed directly with the CPI sales office Please allow a minimum of 72 hours notice when placing your order for a CPI Euromix System At this2. Uncouple the water supply pipe 3 Uncouple the pipe off the mixing tube 4 Open the water drain taps 5 Flick switch to brush position 6 Let the water drain off completely Care of Equipment Any damage to instrumentation or switches on the mixer or control panel could interfere with the normal operation of the system Therefore it is important that the silo mixing station is treated with care at all times and particularly when site vehicles are used to load and transport the mortar Please note the following e Any damage or alterations made to the silo or associated equipment must be reported to CPI immediately The person who orders the silo will be held liable for all damage which results from the improper use of the silo CPI will provide training sessions for customers and staff using EuroMix silos Customers are responsible for ensuring that only trained operators use CPI EuroMix silos and that the correct procedures covered in the training sessions are followed by operators e Damage to CPI silos or associated equipment will be charged for Also available from CPI In addition to the EuroMix user guide the following literature on the EuroMix system is also readily available from CPI e Material safety datasheets e Equipment amp service solutions brochure e Model NBS specification clauses e CPD seminars Please call CPI to obtain documents or download at www euromix com Beaconsfield Spri
4. all users have been trained Start Up Procedure On delivery and every morning the following start up procedure should be followed 1 Place mortar tub under discharge chute NO Hook on control panel and connect power leads CO Connect water pipes D Run mixer momentarily and always check motor direction 5 Run mixer NB Always run mixer before opening butterfly valve 6 Open butterfly valve on the silo 7 Adjust water as necessary using the water flow control valve Timed Run To run using the timer set the desired running time and press the green button on the panel The mixer will stop automatically when the set time has elapsed Daily Cleaning At the end of each day and before an empty silo is collected the following shut down and cleaning procedure must be followed 1 Close butterfly valve on the silo 2 Run out all the remaining material in the mixer 3 After approximately 5 minutes clean water should be running out of the mixer This means that the mixer is clean 4 Disconnect water pipes and remove the control panel for storage in a warm dry secure location In cold conditions see Winter Weather instructions opposite for drain down procedure to avoid frost damage Weekly Cleaning 1 Carry out the daily cleaning procedure 2 Isolate Power source must be disconnected before next step 3 Remove the mixing chamber and screw 4 Clean completely 5 Reassemble T
5. allations must be installed to current IEE Regulation Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671 2001 with attention being paid to the special location section relating to construction sites section 604 Placing the EuroMix Silo on Site Where possible space should be left for a second silo to facilitate a changeover 2 5 Metres 7 2 Metres 3 Metres Allow vehicle access for silo placer and refill tanker Keep silos away from public roads footpaths and rights of way SS y e Approx 33 tonnes when full mm ZI Approx 15 tonnes when delivered Silo requires working area of 3m x 3m s gt Refill level Water amp Power Maximum 5 metres from silo Water Requirements UK In the UK a standard 3 4 tap located within 5 metres of the silo is required Where a water storage tank is required this should be mounted not less than 2 metres above ground level within 5 metres of the silo Each mixer must be piped directly from the tank using an outlet not less than 3 4 internal bore fitted with a gate valve Contact your local sales team for further advice Ireland In Ireland a water tank with a minimum capacity of 500 litres is required this should be mounted not less than 2 metres above ground level and within 5 metres of the silo A standard 3 4 tap should also be located within 5 metres of the silo Each mixer must be piped directly from the tank usin
6. ead cables or other headroom impediments Where restrictions cannot be avoided a standard silo requires a minimum of 7 2m clearance between the top of the foundation and the obstruction m Where possible space should be left beside the silo for a second silo to facilitate a changeover m The customer is responsible for the safe access for delivery collection of the silo refilling and taking note of all safety signage on silos Electrical Requirements 3 Phase Mains For 3 phase mains supply 400 415V neutral and earth the total maximum load is 5kW A 16A 5 pin industrial socket must be provided from a 16A 3 phase motor rated M C B type C or D The electrical supply to the silo must be backed up by a 30mA RCD which is exclusively for silo use The socket must be located within 5 metres of the silo Single Phase Mains The connection from the mains requires a 32A single phase 3 pin industrial socket which must be provided from a 32A motor rated M C B type C or D The electrical supply to the silo must be backed up by a 30mA RCD which is exclusively for silo use Please contact your CPI representative to confirm single phase availability No Power In the event of no power being available on site a 3 phase generator with a minimum capacity of 12kVA fitted with a 16A 5 pin industrial socket from a 16A 3 phase motor rated M C B type C or D is also sufficient to run the silo mixing station Please note All silo inst
7. elivery of the silo there will be approximately 40 tubs of size 0 25m 50 when refilled Certain silos contain level indicators Where fitted these Show the re order level NB Silos can be refilled only when they are below the bottom red line Training CPI personnel will provide relevant training on how to use the EuroMix system This should ensure that you get the best from EuroMix A Certificate of Training will be issued to all people who have been fully trained in the operation of the system Only such people should operate the silo It is the customer s responsibility to notify CPI of any additional training requirements due to people moving on or off sites Refresher training is available free of charge Site Set Up Placing the silo on site When placing the CPI EuroMix silo on site the following must be taken into consideration B Silo will only be placed on sites with suitable foundations and at locations that meet the working space criteria Design and construction of any foundations is the responsibility of the customer B A flat and level top surface of any foundation must be provided to ensure even bearing of silo feet E No blocking or raising of the silo must be carried out unless agreed in writing with CPI B Silos must not be placed in areas accessible to the general public and delivery can only be made to areas controlled by the customer E Select a silo placement area that is free of overh

11. stage our sales team will advise you how many Silos you will need on your site based on your estimate of the daily usage rate of mortar You will then be able to make the necessary site preparations See Site Setup When delivered each silo will contain approximately 16 tonnes of dry material and refills will be made by road tanker as necessary Delivery When preparing for delivery make sure that there is unobstructed access to the site at all times Clear access must be provided on hard road or other surfaces which are capable of carrying a gross weight of up to 40 tonnes Delivery vehicles are rigid or articulated trucks and require a minimum headroom of 4 2 metres and a minimum width of 3 metres The site itself should also be prepared for the arrival of the silo See site set up Re ordering A minimum of 72 hours is required when you need to re order mortar Silos can only be refilled by a specialist EuroMix tanker As your contract progresses you will gain more experience in judging the level of mortar in the silo and the daily usage One simple way to check the amount of mortar left in the silo is to tap the silo with the palm of your hand You will hear a distinctive hollow sound or a dull thud depending on the level Another way of knowing when to re order is to count down the number of tubs used As the system lends itself to one person operation this operative could easily keep a check on the daily tubs used On d
