14. e gt Once you have the author select this bit of content and choose Testimonial author If you have properly executed the class your content should change to resemble a testimonial quote with an author aligned right Create a Button The simplest of all of the Post Style Classes is the button Simply create a link as you normally would Select your link and choose Button from the Styles drop down menu Create Columns Columns can be easily created by selecting the entire block of content your wish to be in columns and assigning the appropriate class This is accomplished with CSS 3 which means that only browsers that support the columns will display columns Child Theming Child theming for WordPress can be a User Guide onto itself We will not go into depth here but we will introduce you to the basics and how this will help you to customize Artisan Creatif beyond the available Theme Options 23 Child Theming Basics According to the WordPress Codex a WordPress child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality of another theme called the parent theme and allows you to modify or add to the functionality of that parent theme With a little understanding of HTML and CSS you can make a child theme modify the styling and layout of a parent theme to any extent without editing the files of the parent theme itself That way when the parent theme is updated your modifications are preserved For this reason child themes are th
15. e recommended way of making modifications to a theme Artisan Creatif Child Theme A child theme can contain as little as a style css file or as much as all of the templates of the parent theme You will notice that your download includes a starter child theme artisancreatif child Inspecting its content you will find the following e style css Screenshot e image directory This is all that is necessary for a child theme At this point any styles you add to the child theme s style css file will override and of the parent theme s style css file In fact this is the case for all template files in the parent directory For example if you wanted to modify the single portfolio php file you would add single portfolio php to your child theme and modify that file Just make sure you maintain the same directory structure and naming convention Please note that Theme Options that are saved in a parent theme are not ported to a child theme If you start with a parent theme and move to child theming you will need to re enter your Theme Options settings Simple Customization with your Child Theme More than likely you are looking for a bit more advanced method of customization without touching the core files Let s say for example you like the dark alternate stylesheet but want to make changes to the background and page titles In order to accomplish this you would do the following e In your active child Theme Options select None from t
16. gs Global Settings Website Logo You can upload your own image to use as the logo for your website Until you do so a text based option will be displayed on your site The maximum width of your logo is dependent on the width of your main navigation For this reason we suggest uploading a logo last Once you have uploaded your logo image the input field will be populated with the absolute path of your image and you will see the image in the size it will appear on your site just below the input field To change the image at any time click the Remove icon on the bottom left of the image and upload a new image Favicon Image You can upload any 16x16 pixel image to be used as your favicon image Until you do so a default favicon image will be used in its place Alternate Stylesheet Artisan Creatif comes with two alternate stylesheets Light and Dark Select the stylesheet you would like to use for your website You can also select None if you are going to be using your own design and your own styles inside of your child theme For more on child theming please read the Child Theme Primer section Sidebar Location Choose the location of your sidebar This will affect all pages with sidebars except for the Home and Contact pages Contact Settings The Contact Settings allow you to determine whether to display a Quick Contact Bar at the top of your website This contact bar can contain one or all of the following e Contact ph
17. he Alternate Stylesheets drop down select menu e Open up ac dark css in any code editor e Select and copy all of the code in ac dark css 24 e Open up your child s style css file and paste what you ve just copied below the import statement e Using a web developer tool like Firebug locate the line of code that declares the background Once you have found it change the declaration to suit your needs That s it You can follow these steps for any of the CSS declarations And again the best thing about this method is that your customizations are preserved in the event of a theme update Advanced Customization with your Child Theme Did you know that you can use your child theme to override all of the parent s stylesheets You can even change layouts remove functions and extend functions from within your child theme without touching the parent theme This is recommended for advanced users or those with intermediate knowledge of CSS Let s say for example you have used the provided production PSD files to create your own custom design Now you want to implement your design with your own CSS but use the divs from the parent Simply do the following e In your active child Theme Options select None from the Alternate Stylesheets drop down select menu In your child theme s style css file delete the import command You now have a naked theme ready for styling Important Things to Remember about Child Themi

20. ng If you are new to child theming it will take some time to get use to this method of customization In the meantime there are some important things to remember when child theming The file structure of your child theme should match the file structure and naming convention of the parent theme Keep in mind that WordPress will check the child theme first before checking the parent theme to load a template e All templates in the child theme override the parent theme e The child theme s function php file does not override the parent theme It is appended to the parent theme We are only scratching the surface of all you can accomplish with child theming 25 Adding Google Analytics In the Snippets txt file you will find a function that should be placed in the functions php file of your child theme if you are not running a plugin that will do this for you jQuery Library amp Plugins Artisan Creatif comes with the following jQuery Plugins registered and enqueued within the theme In some cases the theme will enqueue scripts that are built into WordPress All of the javascript functions are written in no conflict mode and have been tested for compatibility As of this documentation there are no known issues with their functionality e jQuery Cycle e Fancybox e jQuery Easing e jQuery Ul Core WordPress version being enqueued e jQuery Ul Widget WordPress version being enqueued e jQuery UI Accordion Filterable

22. one number e Contact email address with spam protection e Link to your Twitter profile Link to your Facebook page You can also optionally enable a toggle button giving your users the ability to toggle the Quick Contact Bar opened or closed Please note that you can not show the Quick Contact Bar but display its information in your Contact Widget In order to do so you will have to fill out the fields you would like to display in the widget Any fields left blank will not be displayed Featured Portfolio Slider Settings Please skip this section until you have content published in your portfolio In Artisan Creatif v1 0 this setting was known as Home Slider Settings If you are upgrading from v1 0 and would like to start working with your featured portfolio slider skip to How to Publish your Portfolio You have two featured portfolio slider options available to display on your Home Page The Large slider option will display a 940 x 470 pixel image with an optional overlay containing meta data about each portfolio item The Small slider option will display a 460 x 430 pixel image with meta data aligned to the left of the image Each slider will automatically rotate in a continuous loop Whichever option you choose you will be able to set the following once you have enabled your featured portfolio slider e Enter your own header title for the slider e Select the content for the slider Featured Work or All Recent Work NEW e Select t
23. platform that puts the control of your portfolio in your Portfolio hands Portfolio Tags Upon installation Artisan Creatif will initialize a new Custom Post Type called Portfolio This Custom Post Type will have its own taxonomy called Services and its own tags called Portfolio Tags You will use the taxonomy to categorize your portfolio items and you will use the tags to Q Comments mark portfolio items for home page inclusion Each portfolio item must have at least one taxonomy type associated with it in order for the filtering function to work as intended Adding Portfolio Tags As of v1 1 you can now add tags to your portfolio items for further organization Prior to publishing your first item we recommend adding two tags that will allow you to determine which portfolio item will appear in the featured slider and which portfolio item will appear in the portfolio carousel To add the two necessary tags click on the Portfolio Tags link This will take you to the Portfolio Tags page We will first add the portfolio tag that will mark portfolio items for featured slider inclusion Under the heading Add New Portfolio Tag in the Name field enter Home Featured or whatever name you would like For the slug you must enter home featured The description is optional Click Add New Portfolio Tag to save this settings Now we will add the portfolio tag that will mark portfolio items for portfolio carousel inclusion Repeat the steps
