O We recommend that you retain the packaging It is advisable to keep the original packing material in order to prevent control elements and connec tors from being damaged if the instrument has to be transported or shipped at a later date 2 2 2 Setting up the Instrument This instrument is designed for indoor use You can either set it up as a stand alone instrument or mount it in a 19 rack AA AA AAA AAA User Manual 1326 5080 02 01 11 Possible damage to the instrument from overheating Preparing the Instrument Restricted air current or excessively high ambient temperatures can cause the instrument to overheat To ensure sufficient air supply all fan openings must be clear and the air flow at the vents on the sides of the instrument must not be impeded The instrument must be positioned at least 10 cm away from the wall The ambient temperature must lie within the range specified in the data sheet Potential damage caused by electrostatic discharge Electrical discharges can damage components of the instrument or a con nected instrument under test For this reason the instrument must only be operated at a workplace that is protected against electrostatic discharge The following methods can be used separately or in combination to protect against electrostatic discharges e Protective wrist strap with a ground conductor e Conductive floor covering combined with use of a heel grounder Prep
3. 1 Switch on and start up your network analyzer 2 Wear a grounded wrist strap see Potential damage caused by electrostatic discharge on page 12 3 Connect the USB type A connector of the USB cable to any of the USB type A connectors on the front or rear panel of the analyzer and the USB type B con NA IAS AAA User Manual 1326 5080 02 01 19 R amp S ZN Z154 Application nector of the USB cable to the USB type B connector on the front panel of the calibration unit You can also connect the unit before switching on the ana lyzer 4 Wait until the operating system has recognized and initialized the new hard ware When the unit is connected for the first time this may take longer than in normal use The calibration unit is ready to be used 3 2 Performing an Automatic Calibration After connection and initialization you can use the calibration unit as follows 1 Connect the required number of analyzer ports to arbitrary ports of the calibra tion unit 2 Perform the automatic calibration for the selected number of ports using the measurement wizard of your network analyzer For details refer to the ana lyzer s help system 3 Remove the test cables from the calibration unit The ports of the analyzer are calibrated and can be connected to a device under test DUT for further measurements Cabling The cabling of test ports is easiest if the calibration unit is placed on top of the analyzer A A AAA U

13. controlling the R amp S ZN Z154 in chapter 5 2 Remote Control Commands on page 26 5 1 1 2 LAN Interface The instrument is equipped with a LAN interface to enable integration into a local area network LAN This interface consists of a connector a network card and protocols For remote control via the network the controller and the instrument must be con nected via the LAN interface to a common network that uses the TCP IP network protocol They are connected using commercially available RJ 45 cables The TCP IP network protocol and the network services associated with it are precon figured on the instrument To establish the connection you need the instrument s IP address or computer name Socket Communication An alternative way for remote control of the software is to establish simple net work communication using sockets also referred as Raw Ethernet communica tion A A A AAA User Manual 1326 5080 02 01 25 R amp S ZN Z154 Operation The simplest way to establish a socket communication to the calibration unit is to connect to the built in Telnet server A Telnet client is part of every operating sys tem and supports communication with the server on a command by command basis For better utilization and to enable automation by means of programs user defined sockets can be programmed socket connections are established on a specially defined port The socket address is a combination of the IP address or the

19. test This helps ensure the continued safety of the product 1171 0000 52 07 Page Basic Safety Instructions Batteries and rechargeable batteries cells If the information regarding batteries and rechargeable batteries cells is not observed either at all or to the extent necessary product users may be exposed to the risk of explosions fire and or serious personal injury and in some cases death Batteries and rechargeable batteries with alkaline electrolytes e g lithium cells must be handled in accordance with the EN 62133 standard 1 2 Cells must not be taken apart or crushed Cells or batteries must not be exposed to heat or fire Storage in direct sunlight must be avoided Keep cells and batteries clean and dry Clean soiled connectors using a dry clean cloth Cells or batteries must not be short circuited Cells or batteries must not be stored in a box or in a drawer where they can short circuit each other or where they can be short circuited by other conductive materials Cells and batteries must not be removed from their original packaging until they are ready to be used Cells and batteries must not be exposed to any mechanical shocks that are stronger than permitted If a cell develops a leak the fluid must not be allowed to come into contact with the skin or eyes If contact occurs wash the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical aid Improperly replacing or charging cells or ba
