1. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS For Item 8284 A61 READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS WARNING SHUT POWER OFF AT FUSE OR CIRCUIT BREAKER HANGING THE FIXTURE Fig 1 3 1 Shut off power at the circuit breaker and remove old fixture from ceiling including the old crossbar 2 Carefully unpack new fixture and lay all the parts on a clear surface Thread nipple into Loop until snug 4 Thread other end of nipple with loop attached into crossbar until snug 5 Place lock washer over end of nipple protruding through crossbar and thread hex nut onto nipple until tight 6 Take this crossbar assembly and mount to ceiling junction box with junction box screws Tighten screws securely with screwdriver The side of the crossbar marked GND must face out 7 Use a pair of pliers to open one end link of the chain provided and connect to the fixture loop Close the link 8 By measuring determine correct number of links needed for proper hanging height Using pliers disconnect and discard remaining chain 9 Lace the fixture wires through the chain 10 Slip Loop collar over the chain then do the same with the canopy 11 Open the other end link of the chain and hang the fixture on the loop at the ceiling Close the chain link 12 Feed the fixture wires through the loop and nipple and pull until taut CONNECTING THE WIRES Fig 2 13 At this point connect the electrical wire as shown in figure 3 making sure that all wire con2. nectors are secured If your outlet has a ground wire green or bare copper connect the fixture s ground wire to it Otherwise connect the fixture s ground wire directly to the crossbar using the green screw provided 14 Tuck these wire connections neatly into the ceiling junction box and then raise the canopy all the way to the ceiling Raise the Lock collar and thread onto ceiling loop protruding through canopy 15 Install the light bulb 1 60W A19 in accordance with the fixture s specifications DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM WATTAGE RATING Your installation is now complete Return power to the outlet box and test the fixture a Note Illustration Fig 1 on this manual is for installation purposes only It may or may not be identical to the fixture purchased ones shown in the diagram Notice It is important to use proper chain pliers not included To OPEN and CLOSE the chain included with this fixture Do ge Not open them with other tools that may twist or stress the gt chain links It is important to use proper chain pliers like the Junction Box Ceiling Hex Nut Lock Washer Lock Collar Fig 2 FIXTURE WIRES Black or Smooth FIXTURE WIRES White or Bare Ribbed ma Copper Ground FIXTURE WIRES HOUSE WIRES WIRES i Green Ground White Neutral q american G W lighting Intertek association LA 2042E
