COMPONENT VIDEO OUT COMPONENT VIDEO IN Getting Started Step1 Inserting batteries into the Remote Control Open the battery compartment Insert two batteries type R06 or AA following the indications inside the compartment Close the cover Using the remote control Remote control sensor Point the remote control at the sensor within approximately 6 m 20 feet of the unit 80 0500009 22000000009 990605000069 Handling the remote control Do not spill water or other liquids on the remote control Do not drop the remote control Do not leave or store the remote control in the following types of conditions high humidity such as near a bath high temperature such as near a heater or stove extremely low temperature dusty places Step2 Turning on the power Connect the AC power cord to the power outlet Turn on the TV and your AY receiver Select the appropriate input source at the AV receiver that was used to connect to this unit Refer to the equipment owner s manual for detail Turn this unit on Set the TV to the correct Video IN channel e g EXT1 EXT2 AV1 AV2 AUDIO VIDEO etc Refer to your TV owner s manual for detail gt The front display lights up and the default screen appears on the TV Step3 Selecting the color system that corresponds to your TV

6. 20 The setup is carried out via the TV enabling you to customize the DVD Player to suit your particular requirements General Setup menu Press SETUP Press lt P to select General Setup icon Press ENTER OK to confirm D 4 amp a GENERAL SETUP PAGE DVD AUDIO DISC LOCK PROGRAM OSD LANGUAGE SCREEN SAVER SLEEP DIVX R VOD CODE Selecting DVD Audio Video mode In GENERAL SETUP PAGE press AV to highlight DVD AUDIO then press gt DVD AUDIO MODE Select this for normal playback DVD VIDEO MODE Select this to playback the DVD Video contents Press AV to select a setting then press ENTER OK to confirm your selection Notes The DVD AUDIO indicator lights up when a DVD Audio disc is playing When you select DVD VIDEO MODE the DVD AUDIO indicator turns off TIPS To return to the previous menu press 4 To remove the menu press SETUP Setup Menu Locking Unlocking the disc for viewing Not all discs are rated or coded by the disc maker You can prevent a specific disc from playing by locking the disc Up to 40 discs can be locked In GENERAL SETUP PAGE press AV to highlight DISC LOCK then press gt gt LOCK Select this to block the playback of the current disc Subsequent access to a locked disc requires six digit password The default password is 000 000 see page 29 Changing the Password UNLOCK Select this

9. compatible receiver via the digital terminals such as coaxial or optical etc you may need to adjust LPCM Output Discs are recorded at a certain sampling rate The higher the sampling rate the better the sound quality 48kHz Playback a disc recorded at the sampling rate of 48kHz 96kHz if available on disc PCM data stream will be converted to 48kHz 96kHz Playback a disc recorded at the sampling rate of 96kHz If the 96kHz disc is copy protected the digital output will be muted to comply with the standards Speaker Setup This menu contains setup options for your audio output which makes the speaker setup system reproduce high quality surround sound For details see page 10 CD Upsampling This feature allows you to convert your music CD to a higher sampling rate using sophisticated digital signal processing for better sound quality If you have activated the upsampling the player will automatically switch to stereo mode In AUDIO SETUP PAGE press AV to highlight CD UPSAMPLING then press gt OFF Select this to disable CD upsampling 88 2 kHz X2 Select this to convert the sampling rate of the CDs twice higher than the original 176 4 kHz X4 Select this to convert the sampling rate of the CDs four times higher than the original Press AV to select a setting then press ENTER OK to confirm your selection Note This setting is only applicable for the signals output from th

15. picture or vice versa Choose zero 0 to balance the contrast TIPS To return to the previous menu press 4 To remove the menu press SETUP Setup Menu TINT Increase the value will darken the picture or vice versa Choose zero 0 for average setting COLOR Increase the value will enhance the color in your picture or vice versa Choose zero 0 to balance the color Press lt P to adjust the setting that best suit your personal preference Repeat steps 4 5 for adjusting other color features Press ENTER OK to confirm Selecting the black level U S A model only If you set the TV type to NTSC set Black level shift to ON This will improve the color contrast during playback The black level setting has no effect if the TV type is set to PAL ON Select this for enhanced black level OFF Select this for standard black level Closed Caption U S A model only Closed Captions are data that are hidden in the video signal on specific discs invisible without a special decoder The difference between subtitles and captions is that subtitles are intended for hearing persons and captions are for the hearing impaired Subtitles rarely show all of the audio For example captions show sound effects e g phone ringing and footsteps while subtitles don t Before you select this function please ensure that the disc contains closed captions information and your TV set also has this function

17. regardless of the Analog output settings in Setup Menu The operating features described here might not be possible for certain discs Always refer to 15 Disc Operations Changing pages Some DVD Audio discs contain information pages that can include photo galleries artist biographies lyrics etc Every time you press the PAGE button on the remote control the page is turned to the next When you change pages the page number appears in the status window Playing bonus groups Some discs contain bonus groups that require a four digit password to gain access In this case consult the disc jacket and other packaging for information While playback is stopped press XXX button gt The group and track list is displayed on the TV screen Press AY to select a bonus group then press ENTER OK Enter a four digit password using the numeric keypad 0 9 then press ENTER OK Press AV to select a track then press ENTER OK DVD Video Mode Some DVD Audio discs include DVD Video contents that can be played on conventional DVD Video players see page 21 Selecting DVD Audio Video mode The SA CD standard is based on Direct Stream Digital DSD technology This new direct stream digital format comprises a 1 bit system that has a digital sampling frequency that is 64 times higher than that of conventional audio CD There are three types of SA CD discs single layer dual layer and hybrid discs E
