4. 5 4653 FAX 905 475 4625 PART NO 37 5551B Printed in U S A Replaces 37 5551A 9623 SPECIFICATIONS These Pilots can be used with either A B or E series pilot burners Pilot Burners are available in 14 port arrangements Bunsen and Non linting and with a wide choice of mounting facilities Orifice fittings offer three different styles of connections each available for the most used gases INSTALLATION To avoid personal injury and or property damage shut off gas and electric to heating system until installation is complete Uncoil the capillary carefully making certain that it is not bent sharply at any place Be particularly careful with that part of the capillary connected to the diaphragm The thermal element of the automatic pilot may be attached to the pilot burner either before or after the pilot burner is mounted to the main burner To attach the thermal element to the pilot burner remove nut and lockwasher slip thermal element into bracket of pilot burner so that screw on element extends through the hole in bracket Then fasten with nut and lockwasher The orifice fitting should then be screwed into the pilot burner and the tubing connected to the orifice fitting The proper location of an automatic pilot with respect to the main burner should be determined by the manufacturer of the burner according to the requirements of the AGA CGA and the local gas utility 1 The operating temperatures

WHITE RODGERS 30A46 PLUG IN AUTOMATIC PILOT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Operator Save these instructions for future use FAILURE TO READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING OR OPERATING THIS CONTROL COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY AND OR PROPERTY DAMAGE These automatic pilots are designed for use with the White Rodgers gas valves having plug in receptacle The pilots are simply plugged in with no additional electrical connections or mounting devices required When used with these valves they prevent the flow of gas to the main burner if the pilot flame is not burning or is insufficient to properly ignite the main burner These plug in pilots may be used with natural manufactured or mixed gases and with L P gases where means are provided for obtaining a 100 shutoff system The pilot burner should be equipped with the recommended size orifice fitting These pilots are automatic reset automatic recycling needing merely relighting or possibly only the resumption of proper gas pressure to put back in operation If in doubt about whether your wiring is millivolt line or low voltage have it inspected by a qualified heating and air condi tioning contractor electrician or someone familiar with basic electricity and wiring Do not exceed the specification ratings All wiring must conform to local and national electrical codes and ordinances This control is a precision instrument and should be

8. ltre avec diverses options de montage Les raccords d entr e sont offerts avec trois styles de raccor dement disponibles pour les types de gaz les plus communs INSTALLATION Afin de pr venir les blessures et les dommages mat riels coupez le gaz et l lectricit qui alimentent le syst me de chauffage jusqu a ce que l installation soit termin e c 9 dite c UT a qu il n est pli en aucun endroit Faites particuli rement atten tion lorsque vous manipulez la partie du capillaire qui est raccord e sur la membrane Le capteur thermique de la commande automatique peut tre fix au br leur de veilleuse soit avant soit apr s que la veilleuse ait t install e sur le br leur principal Pour monter le capteur thermique sur le br leur de veilleuse retirez d abord l crou et la rondelle de blocage puis glissez le capteur dans le support du br leur de veilleuse en passant la vis du capteur dans le trou du support Fixez le capteur l aide de l crou et de la rondelle de blocage Vissez ensuite le raccord d entr e dans le br leur de veilleuse puis raccordez le tube au raccord L emplacement id al d une veilleuse automatique par rapport au br leur principal doit tre d termin par le fabricant du br leur conform ment aux exigences de l AGA du CGA et du distributeur de gaz local 1 Les temp ratures d exploitation mesur es par des ther mocouples fix s la surface de la veill
9. m at the orifice 7 Bleed tubes are available for attaching to the bracket of the pilot burner This tube is for burning the bleed gas from the diaphragm gas valve and from the pressure regulator and should be connected accordingly Bleed Burners are available for vertical or horizontal pilots OO Horizontal Vertical The following procedure should be closely followed when light ing the Automatic Pilot 1 2 Set the room thermostat to the lowest setting on the dial Make certain that the main gas supply cock and the pilot gas cock have been closed for at least five minutes to permit the combustion chamber to vent itself Open the pilot gas cock While the main burner is operating close the pilot gas cock and the main gas cock shutting off the gas to both the pilot and the main burner Within 60 seconds a slight sound should be noted which will indicate that the gas valve supplying the main burner is closed The thermostat and limit control contacts must be closed during this test 3 LIGHTING THE PILOT Light the pilot with a match supported on the end of a wire or stick long enough to avoid putting your arm or hand inside the combustion chamber After the pilot flame is burning open the main gas supply cock The main burner ignites when the room thermostat is set to a temperature above that which exists in the room at that particular instant As doing this closes the contacts of t
10. ment 6 Dans le cas d installations qui br lent du gaz manufactur il est recommand de raccorder la conduite de gaz de veilleuse un filtre homologu et de capacit suffisante afin de pr venir la formation de gomme l entr e 7 Des tubes de purge sont disponibles qui peuvent tre mont s sur le support du br leur de veilleuse Ces tubes servent br ler les gaz de purge du robinet de gaz membrane et du r gulateur de pression et ils doivent tre raccord s en cons quence Des br leurs de gaz de purge sont disponibles pour les veilleuses horizontales et verticales OO Horizontal Vertical Pour allumer la veilleuse automatique suivez exactement la d marche suivante 1 2 R glez le thermostat d ambiance au point de consigne le plus bas Assurez vous que le robinet a gaz principal et le robinet a gaz de la veilleuse ont t ferm s depuis au moins cing minutes afin de laisser a rer la chambre de combustion Ouvrez le robinet d alimentation de gaz de la veilleuse Alors que le br leur principal est en marche fermez le robinet de la veilleuse et le robinet principal coupant ainsi le gaz qui alimente la veilleuse et le br leur principal Apr s moins de 60 secondes vous devriez entendre un l ger bruit qui repr sente la fermeture du robinet gaz qui alimente le br leur principal Lors des v rifications les contacts du thermostat et des limiteurs doiven
11. t tre ferm s 6 ALLUMAGE DE LA VEILLEUSE Allumez la veilleuse en vous servant d une allumette fix e au bout d un fil de fer ou d une tige de longueur suffisante pour vous viter d ins rer le bras ou la main dans la chambre de combustion Une fois que la veilleuse est allum e ouvrez le robinet principal d alimentation de gaz Lorsque le point de consigne du thermostat est sup rieur a la temp rature de la pi ce les contacts du thermostat sont ferm s ce qui ferme le circuit du robinet a gaz et allume le br leur principal VERIFICATION DE LA VEILLEUSE Attendez environ cing minutes puis rallumez la veilleuse conform ment aux directives de la section Allumage de la veilleuse Apr s moins de 90 secondes vous devriez encore une fois entendre un l ger bruit qui signifie que le br leur principal a t mis sous tension Ouvrez ensuite le robinet principal
