If an N in a shaded box appears in the upper right hand corner of the Caller ID screen this indicates that it is a new not previously viewed record If a number in a shaded box appears in the upper right hand corner of the Caller ID screen this indicates that you have received multiple calls from this party For example a 3 indicates that the party has called 3 additional times since the initial call This repeat indicator can go to a maximum of 9 Use the A W keys to scroll through the records Once you have found the desired record press PICK You now have 3 options SAVE the phone number and name in the Phone Book direc tory DIAL the phone number or DEL delete the Caller ID record from memory 1I DOM aa SAVE Press SAVE while reviewing a Caller ID record The screen will display 25 Press PSE if you want to add a 2 second pause in the dialing se quence Press CLR to backspace Press SAVE to save the phone number in the Phone Book direc tory The LCD will display Press to advance the cursor to the next space You won t have to advance the cursor if the next letter of the name is not on the same key as the previous letter it will advance automatically Press CLR to backspace Press SAVE when you finish en tering the desired name LCD will display CALLER ID f you want to save the phone number in a different location pr
4. 3 If either the Handset or the Base parties want to leave the conference either side can press OFF or SPEAKERPHONE to leave REVIEWING CALLER ID RECORDS NOTE Caller ID and Call Waiting ID are subscription services available through most local telephone service providers These are optional serv ices you are not required to subscribe to them However to receive Caller ID on your Sprint cordless phone subscription through your local phone company is required With the Handset in the OFF on hook mode Press MENU Using the A soft keys scroll until 1 Caller ID is highlighted Press the ENTER soft key Use the A keys to scroll through the Caller ID records The Sprint cordless phone will store the last 50 Caller ID records to come in The latest one will be in 01 Press OFF to exit Caller ID mode MEMORY DIALING FROM THE HANDSET With the Handset OFF on hook Press the MEM soft key QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE Enter Memory Location 01 25 As soon as you enter the second digit the contents of the selected Memory displayed Location will be Press PHONE key or the DIAL soft key to dial the displayed phone number With the Handset ON off hook Press PHONE Listen for dial tone Press the MEM soft key 21 Enter Memory Location 01 25 The displayed phone number will be dialed Press the PHONE or DIAL key FROM T
5. 33 Your Sprint cordless phone is preset for tone dialing To change the dialing mode setting choose SET TONE PULSE Menu selection 8 the screen will display Press TONE or PULSE depending on the requirements of your local telephone provider If you are not sure contact your local phone company Press SAVE The screen will confirm that the dialing mode is updated and then return to the idle mode display Delete MSG Icon Refer to MESSAGE WAITNG INDICATIOR for an explanation of this teature HEADSET OPERATION Your Sprint cordless phone cordless telephone is equipped with a 2 5mm Headset Jack for use with an optional accessory Headset for hands free operation If you choose to use the Headset option you must obtain an optional accessory Headset which is compat ible with the Sprint cordless phone To purchase a Headset call VTech at 1 800 835 8023 Once you have a compatible 2 5mm Headset locate the Headset Jack on the Sprint cordless phone Handset Connect the plug on the Headset cord to the jack on the cordless Handset The plug should fit securely Do not force the connection OPERATION NOTE Whenever a compatible Headset is connected to the cordless Handset the microphone on the Hand set will be muted This is done to limit the effect of background noise The following operational charac teristics apply to Sprint Headsets The same may also apply to other non Sprint supplied headsets b
6. 800 949 4357 THE PHONE DOESN T WORK AT ALL Make sure the Power Cord is plugged in Make sure the telephone line cord is plugged firmly into the Base Unit and the telephone wall jack Make sure the battery pack is properly charged If the LOW BATTERY message is shown the battery pack needs charging NO DIAL TONE First check all the suggestions above f you still don t hear a dial tone disconnect the Base Unit from the telephone jack and connect a different phone If there is no dial tone on that phone either the problem is in your wiring or local service Call your local telephone company YOU GET NOISE STATIC OR A WEAK SIGNAL EVEN WHEN YOU RE NEAR THE BASE UNIT Household appliances plugged into the same circuit as the Base Unit can sometimes cause interference Try moving the appliance or the Base Unit to 39 another outlet YOU GET NOISE STATIC OR A WEAK SIGNAL WHEN YOU RE AWAY FROM THE BASE UNIT You may be out of range Either move close to or relocate the Base Unit The layout of your home may be limiting the range Try moving the Base Unit to another position THE HANDSET DOES NOT RING WHEN YOU RECEIVE A CALL Make sure you have the Handset ringer activated Make sure the telephone line cord is plugged firmly into the Base Unit and the telephone jack Make sure the power cord is plugged in You may be too far from the Base Unit And the OUT OF RA
7. decide whether to switch to the incoming call or continue with you current conversation NOTES ABOUT CALLER ID amp CALL WAITING ID These are subscription services provided by most regional telephone service providers You must subscribe to these services to get the benefits of these features If you do not subscribe to Caller ID services you can still use your Sprint cordless phone and the other features it offers Due to regional incompatibilities Caller ID information may not be avail able for every call you receive In addition the calling party may block their name and phone number from being sent 27 The names and phone numbers of 25 frequently called parties can be stored in the Sprint cordless phone Phone Book directory You will find instructions for programming names and numbers into the directory in the section ADDINGNEW PHONE BOOK RECORDS Once you have chosen PHONE BOOK Menu selection 2 the screen will display Using the numeric keys enter the first letter of the desired name The Handset will display either the exact record or a close match If itis not the desired record press the 4 W scroll keys to search Once you are viewing the desired record press PICK You now have the following options EDIT if you want to change the name or phone number DIAL to access the line and dial the phone number DEL to delete the record from the directo

10. telephones on the market The Sprint cordless phone has been designed to offer a new standard in cordless telephone technology Unlike most other cordless phones the Sprint cordless phone digitizes your voice using advanced digital voice coding to provide noise and distortion free performance In most conditions you will not be able to tell you are using a cordless phone Gone are the an noyances of static interference and having to listen to other people s con versations on your cordless phone The Sprint cordless phone scrambles your voice before ittransmits it This allows you the security of knowing that no one can tune in and eavesdrop on your conversations TheSprintcordless phone decodes and displays name and number Caller ID CID information where available and when subscribed to The alpha numeric display will show both the name and number of the calling party when available Up to 15 name characters and or 11 phone number digits can be displayed on the LCD With the Sprint cordless phone the user can easily answer a call by pressing any key other than the OFF VOLUME keys or 3 PPU keys In addition the handset keypad and LCD illuminate while the handset rings to signal an incoming call This is very useful in a dark environment TheSprintcordless phone includes a Speakerphone and keypad on the Base Unit This enables you to make and receive calls hands free at the Base In addtion the Intercom feature a
11. the Sprint cordless phone uses this battery to provide operational backup in case of a power failure If you have a fully charged battery pack in the Spare Battery charger and there is a power outage you will still be able to place andreceivecalls onthe Sprint cordless phone Handset for up to 4 hours The Spare Battery pack can also be used to replace a drained Handset battery to ensure uninterrupted use Be sure to put the drained battery pack in the Spare Battery charger GETTING STARTED SETTING UP AC POWER ADAPTER Plug the AC power adaptor into an electrical outlet and the DC connector to the back of the Base Unit CAUTION USE CLASS 2 9V DC POWER SUPPLY ONLY SETTING RINGER The Handset ringer is programmed ON as the factory default setting To change ringer settings see RINGER VOLUME The Base Unit ringer is controlled independently by a switch located on the front right hand side antenna side of the Base The Base ringer have 3 settings High Low and Off TONE PULSE SELECTION Your Sprint cordless phone is preset for Tone dialing If you have rotary pulse service program the Handset accordingly See SET TONE PULSE for details CHARGETHE HANDSET BATTERY PACK BEFORE USE The battery pack recharges automatically whenever the Handset is in the Base Unit The battery pack must be charged for 16 hours before using your phone for the first time CONNECT THE TELEPHONE LINE C

HONE Your Sprint cordless telephone contains sophisticated electronic parts so it must be treated with care AVOID ROUGH TREATMENT Place the Handset down gently Save the original packing materials to protect your telephone if you ever need to ship it AVOID WATER Your telephone can be damaged if it gets wet Do not use the Handset outdoors in the rain or handle it with wet hands Do not install your Base Unit near a sink bathtub or shower ELECTRICAL STORMS Electrical storms can sometimes cause power surges harmful to elec tronic equipment For your own safety be caution when using electrical appliances during storms 38 CLEANING YOUR TELEPHONE Your telephone has a durable plas tic casing that should retain its luster for many years Clean it only with a soft cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild soap Do not use excess water or cleaning solvents of any kind Remember that electrical appliances can cause serious injury if used when you are wet or standing in water If your base unit should fall into water DO NOT RETRIEVE IT UNTIL YOU UNPLUG THE POWER CORD AND TELEPHONE LINE CORDS FROM THE WALL Then pull the unit out by the unplugged cords 2 D e IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY If you have difficulty operating your phone the suggestions below should solve the problem If you still have difficulty after trying these suggestions callthe Sprint National Help Desk at 1

NE OFF Press INTER COM key to page the Handset After Handset receive the Base paging press the INT COM key on the Handset to establish conversatiion During the intercom you can press the MUTE key to mute the microphone on the Base But you can still hear the speaking from the Handset Press the MUTE key once again to release the mute function Press INTER COM key to exit the intercom mode FROM THE BASE when SPEAKERPHONE ON You can use intercom during a call Press INTER COM key to page the Handset You will be on hold After Handset receive the Base paging press the INT COM key on the Handset to establish conversation During the intercom you can press the MUTE key to mute the microphone on the Base But you can still hear the speaking from the Handset Press the MUTE key once again to release the mute function Press INTER COM and then SPEAKERPHONE key to exit the intercom mode and return to the call Orsimply press SPEAKERPHONE to exit the intercom mode and return to the call QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE CONFERENCE Your Sprint cordless phone allows you to establish a 3 party conference between the Handset Base and the incoming call 1 Use either the Base or the Handset to make a call 2 If you are using the Base to make the call the Handset can join the conference by pressing PHONE Or press the SPEAKERPHONE key on the Base if you use the Handset to make the call

ORD Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the jack on the back of the Base Unit plug the other end of this cord into the wall jack CHECK FOR A DIAL TONE After the battery is charged rotate the Base Unit antenna to upright posi tion Now press PHONE on the Hand set PHONE ON will appear on the LCD and you will hear a dial tone If not see IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY Fill in the telephone number card on the Base Unit CAUTION 1 Never install telephone wiring dur ing a lightning storm 2 Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet loca tions 3 Never touch uninsulated tel ephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been dis connected at the network inter face 4 Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines WALL MOUNTING USING THE WALL MOUNT ADAPTOR 1 Position the wall mount bracket on the Base Unit Line up the tabs on the wall mount adaptor with the holes on the bottom of the Base Unit Snap the wall mount bracket firmly in place 4 Connect the telephone line cord The telephone line cord has snap in plug at each end Insert one of the plugs into the jack on the bottom of the Base Unit Insert the other end of the plug into the wall jack 2 Mount the Base Unit on the wall Position the Base Unit so the mounting studs will fit into the holes on the bottom of the Base Unit Position the power cord to
