OPERATION Zoom In Turn the Power Zoom SHUTTLE SEARCH Ring anti clockwise Zoom Out Turn the Power Zoom SHUTTLE SEARCH Ring clockwise m The further you turn the Power Zoom Ring the quicker the zoom action NOTES Focusing may become unstable during Zooming In this case set the zoom while in Record Standby lock the focus by using the manual focus pg 52 then zoom in or out in Record mode Zooming is possible to a maximum of 100X or it can be switched to 10X magnification using the optical zoom pg 40 e Zoom magnification of over 10X is done through Digital image processing and is therefore called Digital Zoom e During Digital zoom the quality of image may suffer e Digital zoom cannot be used in the following cases When digital image processing such as Picture Wipe Dissolve pg 49 50 or Video Echo pg 48 is activated Macro shooting as close as approx 5 cm to the subject is possible when the Power Zoom Ring is turned all the way clockwise Also see TELE MACRO in the Menu Screen on page 40 For other notes lt gt pg 75 SSS sh 21 Time Code During recording a time code is recorded on the tape This code is to confirm the location of the recorded scene on the tape during playback If recording starts from a blank portion the time code begins counting from 00 00 00 minute second frame If recording starts from the end of a previously

GM while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch turn on the VCR s power and insert the appropriate cassettes in the camcorder and the VCR Engage the VCR s AUX and Record Pause modes Engage the camcorder s Play mode to find a spot just before the edit in point Once it is reached press KA on the camcorder Press KA on the camcorder and engage the VCR s Record mode Engage the VCR s Record Pause mode and press KU on the camcorder Repeat steps 4 through 6 for additional editing then stop the VCR and camcorder when finished NOTES It is recommended to use the AC Power Adapter Charger as the power supply instead of the battery pack pg 10 As the camcorder starts to play your footage it will appear on your TV This will confirm the connections and the AUX channel for dubbing purposes e Before you start dubbing make sure that the indica tions do not appear on the connected TV If they do they are being recorded onto the new tape To choose whether or not the following displays appear on the connected TV Date Time set DATE TIME to AUTO ON or OFF in the Menu Screen F pg 43 44 Time Code set TIME CODE to ON or OFF in the Menu Screen pg 43 44 Playback Sound Mode Tape Speed And Tape Running Displays set ON SCREEN to LCD or LCD TV in the Menu Screen c pg 43 44 Or press DISPLAY on the remote control

SOUND EFFECT MODE SELECTION Load the provided memory card pg 15 and a cassette pg 13 Set the VIDEO MEMORY Switch to VIDEO then set the Power Switch to BY or M while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch Open the LCD monitor fully or pull out the viewfinder fully Press INDEX The sound effects Index Screen appears Press or to select the desired sound effect Pressing D SOUND starts playback of the currently selected sound effect so you can check it without recording it onto the tape Press D SOUND again to stop the sound effect playback Press SET SELECT The selection is complete and the selected sound effect indication is displayed You can download sound data available at our Web Site see below for URL and transfer them from your PC to the memory card using an optional USB cable to create more sound effects http www thomson music com Sound data should be copied into the memory card s DCSD 100JVCGR folder The file names should be in numerical sequence starting from DVCO00001 mp3 Also refer to the instruction manual of the provided software Use the optional PC card adapter or floppy adapter to transfer sound data from a PC to the memory card ENO D SOUND Button FOR RECORDING cont SOUND EFFECT RECORDING Press D SOUND during recording The J J moves and the selected sound effect is recorded onto the tape
