A Raytheon Company OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND WARRANTY For Home Laundry Dryers Models BE 3113 Electric Heat BG 3119 Gas Heat KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE If this dryer changes ownership be sure this manual accompanies the dryer WARNING ________ FOR YOUR SAFETY If you smell gas 1 Open windows 2 Don t touch electrical switches 3 Extinguish any open flame 4 immediately call your gas supplier FOR YOUR SAFETY Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance SOrOZAL To Dry Clothes IMPORTANT PI instructions before using the using dryer for the first time wash out the inside of the dryer cylinder with a sudsy cloth then wipe dry Install this dryer according to the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE 1 CLEAN LINT FILTER Before each use see Page 15 2 LOAD DRYER Open dryer door Shake out laundry and place in dryer See Helps and Hints Page 14 3 CLOSE DOOR Dryer will not operate with the door open WARNING The dryer will stop tumbling when the door is opened Do not use the dryer if it does not stop tumbling when the door is opened or starts tumbling without turning the START knob Call the serviceman 4 SELECT TIMER SETTING in cycle desired PERMANENT PRESS AUTOMATIC REGULAR DELICATE or TIME These cycles
2. control the drying time 5 TURN FABRIC SELECTOR knob to desired setting DELICATE FLUFF or NORMAL PERM PRESS The FABRIC SELECTOR controls the drying temperature 6 START DRYER Turn START knob clockwise hold momentarily then release Knob will automatically return to its normal position TO STOP DRYER AT ANY TIME Open dryer door or turn timer knob to an OFF position TO RESTART DRYER Close door reset timer if necessary and turn START knob The dryer will not operate if the dryer door is open About Your Speed Queen Dryer Automatic Cycle NOTE The timer knob will not advance with the same regularity in the AUTOMATIC cycle as it does in the TIME cycle AUTOMATIC REGULAR This cycle is designed to dry large and average size loads of similar weight fabrics Uniformity of fabrics is important to ensure that all items will dry in the same length of time When properly set for the load the dryer will determine the exact length of drying time shut the heat off when the clothes are dry and tumble for approximately five minutes with no heat before stopping at the OFF position For example you may notice the timer knob remains in the same position for 15 minutes before it begins to move THE TIMER IS NOT MALFUNCTIONING This only means it took 15 minutes for the load to become dry enough to start advancing the timer knob The length of time it takes for the timer knob to begin advancing depends on the type and size
3. of load being dried Cool Down The AUTOMATIC cycle has a 5 minute cool down Period period at the end of the cycle During that time the load is tumbled with no heat This helps reduce wrinkling Setting the timer knob in a COOL DOWN position will result in the load being tumbled with no heat continued Load Types For AUTOMATIC REGULAR Cycle MAX DRY or HEAVY For fabrics that absorb a lot of water such as cotton quilts rugs and unusually large or heavy items This setting will not be required for most loads NORMAL For cottons such as cotton knits corduroys cotton work clothes and mixed loads DELICATE For medium and lightweight fabrics not permanent press as in dresses dress shirts and for delicate items These cycles have approximately 5 minute cool down no heat period at the end of the cycle 10 Suggested Dryer Settings AUTOMATIC REGULAR and DELICATE Cycles Load Type rina pa SELECTOR Heavy Cottons REGULAR TE Mig eal ee REGULAR PERM PRESS sue and Dress Shirts N P Sheer and Very Lightweight Cottons Items labeled Dry DELICATE DELICATE With Low Heat The suggested timer settings are approximate Check garment care labels for proper dryer setting At first set indicator toward center of drying zone You may find you will get better results for your loads by setting the indicator to either side Turn timer knob to a l
