SONY PC G GRT Senes Optical Disk Drive Replacement Instruc tons IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU START These easy instructions are intended to guide you through the replacement process v To avoid electnc shock please make sure product is tumed off and AC Adaptor is disconnected from the power source Remove jewelry before you begin work to avoid scratching the surface of your notebook computer v Place your notebook computer on a clean stable and covered surface to avoid damage to the Computer s case v Follow the ESD Electrostatic Discharge damage prevention instructions o Hold partsby the edges away from exposed circuitry when possible o Do not walk around excessively asthis promotes static build up v The appearance of the electronic components shown in the illustrations may be different from the components shipped This slight difference doesnot affect the accuracy of these instructions Sony Is not responsible for any loss of data associated with your computer or any damage caused by incorrect handling of the computer under these procedures The terms of your Sony Limited Wa manty continue to apply et l j E fice o Step 1 Prepare the Computer Step 2 Remove the Battery Pack Step 3 Remove completely the battery pack from the computer and y een ake eure dhe Locate the battery door and unlock it lt Si aside With your thumbs pull the battery in the release directio2. n as shown in the picture computer is turned off the lid is closed and the AC Adapter is disconnected Failure to do so can result in damage to the computer Place the computer upside down on a protected surface with the Battery door facing you P N 199860137 Rev C 1 2 PC G GRT Senes Optical Disk Drive Replacement Instructions ODD BAY Step 4 Locate the ODD Bay Step 5 Unlock the ODD Latch Use your thumb and gently slide the ODD latch in to release direction Firmly grasp the CD DVD drive and slide it away from the computer as shown Step 7 Install New ODD Bay Hold the new ODD Bay by the edges and align it with the opening With an even force slide in the new HDD Bay Make sure the new ODD Bay is seating flush on the edge of the computer Step 8 Reinstall the Battery Pack and reconnect the AC Adapter Return the old ODD Bay to Sony following the included shipping instructions P N 199860137 Rev C 2 2 Step 6 Gently pull the original ODD Bay away from the computer as shown
