1. dajndwoa noA Guisn i 77 78 Using your Macintosh computer You can copy images to your Macintosh computer e PMB is not compatible with Macintosh computers Recommended computer environm The following environment is recommended for a computer connected to the camera Recommended environment for copying images OS pre installed Mac OS 9 1 9 2 Mac OS X v10 1 to v10 5 USB jack Provided as standard Notes on connecting the camera to a computer e Operations are not guaranteed for all the recommended computer environments mentioned above If you connect two or more USB devices to a single computer at the same time some devices including your camera may not operate depending on the types of USB devices you are using Operations are not guaranteed when using a USB hub Connecting the camera using a USB interface that is compatible with Hi Speed USB USB 2 0 compliant allows advanced transfer high speed transfer as the camera is compatible with Hi Speed USB USB 2 0 compliant There are two modes for a USB connection when connecting a computer Mass Storage default setting and PictBridge modes This section describes Mass Storage as an example For details on PictBridge see page 57 When your computer resumes from the suspend or sleep mode communication between the camera and your computer may not recover at the same time Copying and viewing images

Shooting menu For details on the operation amp page 34 Red Eye Reduction Setting the Red Eye Reduction function aj Ge eee The flash strobes two or more times before shooting to reduce the red eye phenomenon when using the flash i91 Auto When the Face Detection function is activated the flash strobes automatically to reduce the red eye phenomenon On The flash always strobes to reduce the red eye phenomenon Off Does not use Red Eye Reduction e To avoid blurring of images hold the camera firmly until the shutter is released It usually takes a second after you press the shutter button Be also sure not to allow the subject to move during this period e Red eye reduction may not produce the desired effects It depends on individual differences and conditions such as distance to the subject or if the subject looked away from the pre strobe In such a case you can correct the red eye using Retouch in the viewing menu after shooting page 50 e When the Face Detection function is not used the flash will not strobe to reduce red eye phenomenon even when Auto is selected Shooting menu For details on the operation amp page 34 Color Mode Changing the vividness of the image or adding special effects You can change the brightness of the image accompanied by effects 4 Ct Normal Sets the image to standard color 6t Sepia Hit 8 amp W

18. by e mail Basic techniques for better images Flash On using the flash The eyes of the subject may come out red or fuzzy white circular spots may appear when using the flash These phenomena can be reduced by taking the following steps The Red eye phenomenon Pupils become dilated in dark environments Flash light is reflected off the blood vessels at the back of the eye retina causing the red eye phenomenon Camera Eye oO me Retina How can the Red eye phenomenon be reduced e Set Red Eye Reduction to On page 46 e Select fo High Sensitivity with the mode dial page 29 The flash is turned off automatically e When the eyes of the subject turn out red correct the image with Retouch on the viewing menu page 50 or with the supplied software PMB The White circular spots This is caused by particles dust pollen etc floating close to the lens When they are accentuated by the camera s flash they appear as white circular spots Camera Particles dust pollen etc in the air How can the White circular spots be reduced Light the room and shoot the subject without a flash Select ifo High Sensitivity with the mode dial The flash is turned off automatically Even though the mode dial is set to ifo High Sensitivity the shutter speed might be slower under low light conditions or in a dark place In that case use a tripod or hold your
