1. RGB input selector Depending on the RGB output of the equipment you have connected set this switch to one of the following 3 positions ANALOG For microcomputers and videotex units having analog RGB output such as the Sony SMC 70 SMC 70G microcomputer DIGITAL 1 For microcomputers having digital RGB output with positive sync signals such as the IBM PC IBM PC XT and IBM PCjr DIGITAL 2 For microcomputers having digital RGB output with negative sync signals such as the NEC PC 8001A AC power input connector Connect to the AC outlet with the supplied AC power cord RGB IN input connector 8 pin Allows a microcomputer a character generator or a videotex unit having either analog or digital output to be connected Refer to pages 4 5 USE OF A DISPLAY STAND With the optional Sony SU 531 display stand this unit can be adjusted to be viewed at your desired angle within 80 horizontally and 15 vertically EE ren D For details read the instructions of the display stand CONNECTIONS Be sure to turn the power of the unit off before making any connections CONNECTION WITH THE SONY SMC 70 or SMC 70G MICROCOMPUTER Fix the inserted plug with the screws Rear of GPD 1201 9000 Align the plug with the receptacie Loosen the screws when Open panel Set to ANALOG color monitor cable optional connector to wall outlet To disconnect the plug2. press the projections on both sides and pull AC power cord supplied CONNECTION WITH OTHER MICROCOMPUTERS Using the appropriate connecting cable and with the RGB input selector of this display set to the appropriate position this display can be used with other commer cially avallable microcomputers character generators or videotex units Examples of connections with other microcomputers Position of RGB Equipment that can be connected Monitor cable optional to be used input selector of CPD 1201 9000 A microcomputer with digital RGB output e g IBM PC or IBM PC XT having a 9 pin digital RGB output termina with positive sync signals Oo UT aes 6 9 IBM PCjr having a 18 pin digital RGB output terminal with positive sync signals e g NEG PC 8001A having an 8 pin DIN digital RGB output terminal with negative sync signals Note The monitor cable should arrange the RGB output signals of the connected equipment so that they match the signal assignment of the RGB IN connector of this unit See page 6 If you are not sure whether you can use your computer character generator or videotex unlt with CPD 1201 9000 or which monitor cable to use con sult your authorized Sony dealer To RGE IN of CPD 1201 9000 DIGITAL 1 MKI SMF 503 dam To RGB IN of CPD 1201 9000 DIGITAL 1 Fe SMF S05 a Use a connecting cable usually supplied to the computer that will match the

8. tubborn stains may be removed with a cloth lightly dampened with a mild detergent solution Never use strong solvents such as thinner or benzine or abrasive cleansers since these will damage the cabinet As a Safety precaution unplug the unit before cleaning it On repacking Do not throw away the carton and packing materials They make an idea container in which to transport the unit When shipping the unit to another location repack it as iHustrated on the carton If you have any questions about this unit contact your Sony service facility LOCATION AND FUNCTION OF CONTROLS CPD 1201 CPD 9000 POWER switch and indicator green To turn on th power of the unit press this switch to ON The indicator will light up To turn off the unit press towards OFF ON OFF PICTURE control Adjusts the contrast Turn downwards to increase con trast or upwards for less contrast BRIGHTNESS conirol Normally keep this contro at the center detent position For a brighter display turn this knob clockwise and fora darker display turn it counter clockwise H SHIFT horizontal shift control Turn this control to center the displays of microcom puters character generators etc not of Sony that are shifted toward the left or right side of the screen O V HOLD vertical hold contro If the display rolis vertically adjust this control until the display stabilizes Push upward to remove panel
